My late husband wanted it played for his funeral, I honored his wish. Haven't listened to it since that day. It's too painful, listened for the first time in 19 years tonight
My “Dance” lasted 35 years, 32 of those married and raising 3 kids. I wouldn’t have traded those years for anything. She left in 2017 for reasons that were entirely my fault from issues with my own family and my siblings that took a toll over the years on our marriage. We had to say goodbye to our youngest daughter on March 9, 2023 at 29 years of age, after a 5 year battle with 3 rare diseases. “I Could Have Missed the Pain, but I’d Have Had to Miss the Dance” will be carved on my headstone. For real.
When my husband died, I literally felt part of my soul leaving my body! He loved this song and I think of him every time I hear it! It's been 7 years and I still miss him every day!
Another song to check into is - If Tomorrow Never Come , also The River , Shameless , Poppa Loved Momma are some more GB songs that provoke a wide of emoiions for various reasons.
We were married for 52 years. Would live it all again if I could. Your right this song cuts deep. I miss him so much. Thanks for sharing. He was wounded twice in Viet Nam, got 2 purple hearts and 2 bronze stars.
This was our graduation song in High School back in 1992! I still want to tear up when I hear it! Brings me back to a time when we were young and full of wonder of what the future held yet scared at the same time! What is really sad is that the future we looked forward to is not something we ever thought possible! We are in a terrible place right now and the only thing that gets me through it is knowing that Jesus will be coming soon so all of the terrible things happening right now has to happen in order for Him to come! So even though it is a scary place right now and even scarier times ahead its also a beautiful thing going to take place!
Garth Brooks is an amazing man who fame rose and shines brighter than every other artist at the time. When he married his wife he chose to stay home with the kids and let her continue to travel and do concerts and Be the Biggest Brightest Star in Country Music 🎶🎵❤. Now that kids are out highschool he's been back playing show's and wrote books ❤. There's only one Garth ❤
One of my all time favorites. Request: "Ain't goin down til the sun comes up". Completely different feel and/or grove to that song. I'm looking forward to hearing it. Thanks.
Don’t feel bad for reacting to the wrong version, earlier. I’ve seen this happen to numerous reactors. I think Garth Brooks keeps a tight rein on his music. You definitely have the right version with this one. 😀
For Garth, the meaning of the song is about life. Living a full, healthy life, with no regrets. You might have to deal with pain at times, but you also get the happy times too.
If you can, go see him live. He sounds good on a recording, but he really shines live. He is a performer. And there is something special about thousands of people singing in unison with so much feeling. Most people have felt that incredible sorrow but they still cherish memories of the times together. Check out some more videos of his. If you do Friends in Low Places, please try to get the live version, maybe the Central Park one? Unanswered Prayers and If Tomorrow Never Comes are great songs. And of course the CMT and TNN banned video The Thunder Rolls. Great job.
This song came out when my husband died, we would always go out dancing for our anniversary. I listened to this and cried so many tears. He died at age 48.
I believe on TH-cam the concerts are the best and he's phenomenal live... his music is cataloged through Amazon I believe so lives are always best for him❤❤❤
This song is deep. I think everyone can relate. We all have pains in our lives, and we all have to take the bad times with the good times. There's a vid of a concert where a lady was holding up an "I beat cancer" sign as he sung this song. He stopped singing, borrowed the sign and held it up for the crowd to see. Everybody knew what the lady was saying with her sign.
This song can apply to any relationship he is basically saying tell someone how you feel while you have the chance and don't avoid a relationship just because you are afraid of getting hurt
You are so correct in your estimate of what the song means. If you don't take a chance and even if it ends or somebody passes on it was worth taking a chance for love. To take a chance it's not to be dead inside your heart and soul. Because you always have the memories of the good times. I lost my husband after 40yr "he passed on while taking a nap in his chair. We lived we loved , we laughed, we had arguments, and we would make up. We never went to bed mad at each other and always said I love you. ~~~~~ even up to the time before he passed on, he would still tease me and chase me around the table. HA Ha !!! When he died it felt like my heart and soul had been ripped out of my body. But if I'd been too scared to take a chance I would have never known his love. I WOULD HAVE MISSED THE DANCE. 😢 ❤💔💔🙏
Watching you react to songs all this time, I always knew you had a good heart ❤️ I've had that same pain you had... you'll always remember it, but it gets easier to deal with. Just don't change! Don't get jaded and cold. One day, someone will be so lucky to experience your loving heart ❤️ 💙 💜
There's a lot of philosophy in this song. If we could see the future, we might make decisions to avoid the pain. But, by doing so, we would be cheating ourselves out of a lot of good things too. If he had "changed it all" he would never have had the dance he remembers and treasures so much. Life is better left to chance. Let things happen as they will. Don't second guess yourself out of a lot of precious experiences you might not otherwise have.
My husband and I danced for 40 years, 6 months, 2 weeks and one day, then cancer took him from me. The pain is sometimes intolerable but the memories are so very precious.
You should have reacted to the video where he's singing this song in concert and a woman holds up a sign cancer treatment in the morning and Garth in the evening, it will make you cry. ❤❤❤😢😢😢
I was adopted at birth. My adopted parents are gone, my only daughter is gone and my husband is gone. I still have my dog and my late husband’s two cats. My late husband loved this song.
I'm sad the video isn't played.. it truly hits your heart. My husband passed away 15 yrs ago today.. we raised 5 children together. Our youngest was 9 when he passed. I've done the Dance and am very blessed to have come out on the better side. I met an amazing man that raised my youngest with me and has been amazing to this day.
Watch lives if you want to hear Garth. I've also seen this song about relationships. Yes, sad for some.. But the joy and love, children.. those things were good, and it's worth the pain because of all the good.
I heard this played at a funeral in the 90s. A high school boy in our town was killed in an accident. The song has different means to a lot of different people. It's a good one. I'm glad you eventually found the Brooks version and not an imitator.
This was one of the songs played at my military retirement ceremony. The meaning for me wasn't so much related to a "couple" relationship but all the family members and friends I had lost. Our lives are better left to chance b/c maybe I would have changed things if I'd have known the outcome.
It’s also about going through things. If you knew what would happen would you still do it, or would you change it. He’s saying all that pain was worth it.
Beaches of Cheyenne, Thunder Rolls. Both sad. Ain’t Going Down Till the Sun Comes Up, Friends in Low Places, Callin’ Baton Rouge….all more happier tunes by Garth.
@JBLETHALTV Great reaction friend. There’s a live video on TH-cam where Garth sings this song to a lady with cancer in the audience. Please react to it! It’s incredible. Also if you haven’t, please react to Chris Stapleton’s live performance “2021 CMA Awards “Cold”. I think you will like it. Chris won Grammys,CMA’s,etc., for it. He writes his own songs. It’s 🔥!
I was the first comment yesterday knowing a lot of reactors viewed that same video 😂 lol, I love me some Garth! And fun fact, it’s his personal fav of all his songs!
I posted The Dance official Video 1 time saying I can not believe I found this video since Garth has block most of his Video`s ...got a message from Garth .."I `m happy that you look so hard to find it true fan"
Totally not your fault that you got the wrong one initially... like every reactor seems to do that (it's generally really hard to find his original music, especially on YT).
Just found your channel and subscribed. Please try Garth's beautiful song, written and dedicated to his daughter, Allie, entitled, " If Tomorrow Never Comes." It is definitely a thought-provoking song, by one of country music's true icons. Thank you for your emotional reaction. Your subscribers can recommend excellent country music, that always speaks to your heart and tells wonderful stories....just listen to our recommendations.
This song was played at my bff funeral. he died due to surgery issues. he wasn't even 40 years old. I sang this song when I lost my dad. and if I remarry this is the son my brother is going to dance with me in place of my daddy.
I'd love to see you do a reaction to the song Smile. It was written by Charlie Chaplin and has been covered by many. Nat King Cole, Harry Connick Jr., Dean Martin, and many, many more. I hum it when I'm having a tough time. It's worth trying, in my opinion. Just found your channel. Look forward to see your new videos and checking out your past videos.
You are best off rea ting to him live. You will connect and know that it's actually him... There's a live video of him singing this same song and spots a woman in the crowd that was battling cancer. It's moving, loving , motivational, heart fealf video...
What is the story behind the song "The Dance"? … was inspired by a scene in the 1986 movie Peggy Sue Got Married where Peggy Sue goes back in time to not get married but sees pictures of her kids disappear
My ex fiance was shot in the neck by his best friend while I was standing next to him. I tried everything. I blew all my breath into him to keep him alive. I couldn't. We danced together to this same song two nights before he died. Out of the blue he grabbed me and started dancing with me. I was so happy. And I listened to the same song at the funeral home during his viewing. I kissed him the last time to this song. Goodbye Thomas. I will meet you in heaven.
Not something I should have listened to first thing in the morning having lost my husband to Covid. I keep trying not to be the victim, it’s songs like this that cause me to crawl into my fetal position feeling intense despair & loneliness. I don’t want to start over at 66.
I don't think that this song must be about a love relation, it can be about life and what makes you into you. If it can be so, then THE DANCE is about making things the wrong, or right way and learning from it, right? Perhaps the DANCE is about taking the CHANCE, you could win, or lose, but you never know unless you try it, right? That is how I think about the song, that kind of makes it different if you listen to it like that, right?
The reason you reacted to the wrong song first is that Garth is stuck in the 90’s and refuses to license his music to platforms like TH-cam. This video will probably not be allowed to be on here very long, be careful. 🤞 It’s Garth’s loss. A whole new generation would discover his music if he wasn’t so ignorant. He has no sense of humor either. Ask Tom Segura! 😂 Speaking of questions. . . Where are the bodies G? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I lost my fiance in the Galaxy Airlines L188 crash in Reno, Nevada on January 21, 1985. th-cam.com/video/IwpGjc6-wCY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4q4q0AZkgU5aJ89c When the person you love is gone, their love still dwells in your memories. "Life has to end. Love doesn't." We’re meant to loose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us? This song helps us make some kind of sense in this senseless world.
My cousin was murdered in 1990. They played this song at his service. I still cry when I hear it.
I’m so sorry that happened. May he rest in peace and may the pain in your heart be comforted.
I’m so sorry to hear that. That had to be an absolute horrible experience to go through. I can’t even imagine. 😞
My late husband wanted it played for his funeral, I honored his wish. Haven't listened to it since that day. It's too painful, listened for the first time in 19 years tonight
Yep...played it at my brother's funeral in 93. Still hits me. I can hardly listen to it.
❤ You have a precious heart and sweet soul. You will be someone's Prince Charming.. and NEVER settle for less! You are a handsome, caring young man. ❤
My “Dance” lasted 35 years, 32 of those married and raising 3 kids. I wouldn’t have traded those years for anything. I feel your pain sister, I lost my husband 2016 after 40 yrs to❤gether. My prayers ❤coming your way.
This song along with the official music video really hits, because of the imagery
The viewing of the official video should be required for reactors in order to get the full impact of the song.
This song always hits hard.
I haven't heard this song since 2005 at my late husband's funeral. Thank you for reacting to this.
He passed away from brain cancer. Our kids were 13 and 9.
Totally one of the best if you enjoyed The Dance you would definitely will like "Unanswered Prayers" its a beautiful song ❤have a bless day
Yes, please.
My husband passed away in 2015 at the age of 56. I give anything for one more dance with him.
love Garth, lucky enough to see him in concert twice...
You are a sweetheart! Nice reaction! Everything Garth does is fantastic!
The official video of this is heartbreaking, where he said how the King would fall, was pictures of Martin Luther King, his wife and children 😭💔
Another song to check into is - If Tomorrow Never Come , also The River , Shameless , Poppa Loved Momma are some more GB songs that provoke a wide of emoiions for various reasons.
The Change Oklahoma version
We were married for 52 years. Would live it all again if I could. Your right this song cuts deep. I miss him so much. Thanks for sharing. He was wounded twice in Viet Nam, got 2 purple hearts and 2 bronze stars.
Garth can’t be replicated

Mine lasted 2weeks short of 28 years. I lost him to cancer in 2022. Wouldnt give up one minute of our time even if it saved me the pain!
This song, actually, most of his songs are quite poignant. Beautiful. And damn near every song, if not all, are amazing, emotional and hits hard.
I have been blessed seeing Garth live a few years ago. The best concert ever. If you can, go see him. He is just phenomenal.
Go a little deeper with Garth and check out "The Beaches of Cheyenne". All of these years later and it still gives me the chills.
One of my all time favorites. Request: "Ain't goin down til the sun comes up". Completely different feel and/or grove to that song. I'm looking forward to hearing it. Thanks.

Good point.

I absolutely love Garth Brooks' s The dance
Every reactor I've seen react to Garth Brooks at first has listened to the imitator initially.

React to his song If Tomorrow Never Comes. You will love it.

What you need is a cheerful song about the ladies, Kip Moore i believe, Mary was the Marrying Kind, you won't regret it
Ain’t Going Down till the sun comes up or Callin’ Baton Rouge or Friends in Low Places….all Garth Brooks and always just fun.
This song will bring out the pain for sure…. Our lives are better left to chance…
I lost my husband of 27 years three years ago to Covid. This song really hits hard now.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad 3.5 years ago to Covid and this song was played at his service.
❤ your reactions thanks
Hey James! Such a great song! 🤎🤍👍🙂
My all-time favorit6e Country song!
This is a very hard song for a lot of people. Definitely a funeral song in the south. Was played at both my parents funerals ❤🙏❤️
My son, who was 18 at the time, played guitar and sung this at his grandfather’s funeral
You are nice when you are listening to the songs. I like seeing you enjoy the songs. Garth is a great musician and song writer.
My husband and I danced for 40 years, 6 months, 2 weeks and one day, then cancer took him from me. The pain is sometimes intolerable but the memories are so very precious.

I lost two husbands and I wouldn’t have missed dancing with either of them.
Love this song it's so beautiful and so glad you get to hear is amazing voice ❣️
His love for his wife listen to his song Shameless ❤❤❤❤.
Garth have another song that is really, really, really hard to listen to the lyrics to:
If tomorrow never comes
My farther/daughter dance I chose after he passed…he should have been there ❤❤❤
Your best bet with Garth is live performances. If you could see into the future, you would miss a lot of good times, trying to avoid the hard times.
Such a hearfelt and honest reaction.
You are so sweet. It is a great song.😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤

Beautiful.
go do a reaction on Alison Krauss & Brad Paisley - Whiskey Lullaby

Great slow dance song
They are so strict on copywrite for his songs that it's HARD to get one where he is singing and not good cover unless you use one of his lives.
It’s also about going through things. If you knew what would happen would you still do it, or would you change it. He’s saying all that pain was worth it.
Watch the Red Strokes video with Garth... Very Cool:)
I love Garths shirt.
Beaches of Cheyenne, Thunder Rolls. Both sad. Ain’t Going Down Till the Sun Comes Up, Friends in Low Places, Callin’ Baton Rouge….all more happier tunes by Garth.
this helped me though the death of my first boyfriemd. i thank God i found love again
@JBLETHALTV Great reaction friend. There’s a live video on TH-cam where Garth sings this song to a lady with cancer in the audience. Please react to it! It’s incredible. I was the first comment yesterday knowing a lot of reactors viewed that same video 😂 lol, I love me some Garth! And fun fact, it’s his personal fav of all his songs!
I don’t want to relive that…
There is a video that was done to this song. There are images of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King and others. Very moving.
I posted The Dance official Video 1 time saying I can not believe I found this video since Garth has block most of his Video`s ...got a message from Garth .."I `m happy that you look so hard to find it true fan"

My husband and son was killed in a car accident, this got me thru it all. The other guy is amazing also.
Totally not your fault that you got the wrong one initially... like every reactor seems to do that (it's generally really hard to find his original music, especially on YT).
Check out "I should hav e never started loving you" by The Marshall Tucker Band. You will not be disppointed.

Red strokes by Garth ❤
Thunder Road JB... You gotta listen to Thunder Road...
My uncle died in a crash. This was played at his funeral. It's really, really hard to listen to this song.
The music video shows Martin Luther king and other greats who died unexpectedly
What is the story behind the song "The Dance"?
… was inspired by a scene in the 1986 movie Peggy Sue Got Married where Peggy Sue goes back in time to not get married but sees pictures of her kids disappear
My mom died I’m still crying September she would be only 81.
YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT WITH THE VIDEO HE MADE!
Can't talk about my dance
Not something I should have listened to first thing in the morning having lost my husband to Covid. I keep trying not to be the victim, it’s songs like this that cause me to crawl into my fetal position feeling intense despair & loneliness. I don’t want to start over at 66.
16 years my dance lasted.

The reason you reacted to the wrong song first is that Garth is stuck in the 90’s and refuses to license his music to platforms like TH-cam. This video will probably not be allowed to be on here very long, be careful. 🤞
It’s Garth’s loss. A whole new generation would discover his music if he wasn’t so ignorant.
He has no sense of humor either. Ask Tom Segura! 😂
Speaking of questions. . . Where are the bodies G? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I lost my fiance in the Galaxy Airlines L188 crash in Reno, Nevada on January 21, 1985.

This song helps us make some kind of sense in this senseless world.
