I was tricked! I’m told this isn’t Garth Brooks, it’s a cover 😑 LAME. So I looked up Garth and he has NO music videos on YT!!! That’s insane. Doesn’t he have any music videos?? I’ve seen some live performances on YT but that’s it. Oh well, I tried y’all 🤷🏽♂️
Garth Brooks is the 100% don't react person. He's like Lars from metallica when people wanted to download their songs. He's got amazing songs so you could post a link and we can listen with you but he and his group don't frick with copywrite BS. Southern Mofo can't spit out the Tobacco from 30 years ago and let people enjoy his great music. Just because of this i'm'a toss out songs. "Callin Batonrouge" "thunder Rolls"........ My favorite that always makes me cry, Garth Brooks - The River. A dream is like a vessel
I love this song. I list my husband he was so young 42 had a heat attack. This song reminds me him when he use to hold me and dance with me. Its been 23 years and this son touches my heart. He was a wonderful man and a great father. Thanks for playing this song
Garth Brooks "Unanswered Prayers" is another really good one find an older live preformance or official music video to hear Garth. BTW Garth sounds just as Beautiful or Better than the Cover. ❤
My husband's favorite Garth Brooks song. It wasn't until after he passed away that I truly heard the words of the song. Yes, I know how much he loved me and I still love him with all my heart and soul.
Definitely not Garth. But who ever was singing did a great job with a great song. Garth's song, Thank God for Unanswered Prayers is one or the best country songs ever. ❤❤❤
I’m glad people other than me understand this. He’s one of the top selling male country singers of all time. A legend and his songs are a book of life. I have the entire box set of his music. Epic
You really are my favorite. You get it. You don’t get distracted by stupid videos, you don’t decide you don’t like a song before you’ve heard it and you understand when a song is deep and why. You are great
At the opening of the music video, Brooks explains that the song is written with a double meaning - both as a love song about the end of a passionate relationship, and a story of someone dying because of something he believes in, after a moment of glory. The video shows several American icons and examples of people who died for a dream.
THIS song brings me to tears every time. My two best friends in the world got married right out of high school. We remained close all these years through their ups and downs. They nearly divorced but didn't and they gave me the credit for that. But it was really their love that kept them together. OMG we used to all talk and plan our future golden years of traveling and mischief. Then he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when he was 57 years old. Our dreams shattered. He fought like a bear to have more time. I lived in a different state when his time began winding down. I had promised him that I would be there to say goodbye and help her anyway I could. When I got the call I went immediately. I arrived he was laying in a hospital bed set up in their family room right next to their big screen TV which was playing music videos. He was awake, in pain, bright yellow from jaundice, and a shell of the big man I'd known since I was a kid. His voice was so weak when he said "Thank you." She took me out to the screen porch to talk. She said he had been refusing medication when he needed it and she hoped I'd talk him in to taking it. Their daughter came out and said "Dad wants you" to her. We went back in shocked to see that he was sitting up on the side of the bed. She rushed to him trying to get him to lay down. Suddenly his voice sounded normal and he said "No, Help me stand up." So she did. He leaned against her and wrapped his arms around her and started swaying slightly side to side. Mind you he was 6ft 3in and She was barely 5ft and we all thought he was going to fall over on her. She kept saying "You're going to fall." He whispered "No" and held on tight. I walked up behind her in case she needed help. I noticed THIS song playing on the TV. I busted down crying realizing he was having one last dance with her. I said "He's dancing with you hon. Listen to the song." He stayed on his feet through the rest of the song softly swaying with the love of his life. When the song finished, we helped him back to bed. He whispered "I think I need that medicine now." She gave it and then curled up next to him in the bed. I'm sitting here crying remembering what a precious final gift he gave to her. He passed the next morning. We were both with him. They had been married for over 40 years. Theirs was a type of marriage that everyone should strive for. One where you f*** up you owned it without blame and excuse, and apologize not with just words, but with deeds. One where you forgave and you didn't bring it up again. One where both learns and grows. One where you put one another first, before ANYONE else but God. I was immensely blessed to have been a part of their lives and called family all of these years. I lost my son, and only child, 2 years ago. If it weren't for my "family" I probably wouldn't be writing this now. I'm moving to be closer to her and hope we can rekindle our dreams of travel. I know her Chris and my Tony would have wanted that for us.
Oh honey… you made me cry. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my beautiful husband to cancer also, after over 20 years, and I am still shattered…. Lowkey I’m still pissed at God for taking him 😢
Just wait till you see the actual music video and hear him. Life changing song! It’s Garth’s favorite song of them all!!! I’ve seen him sing it live, awe inspiring.
A little while, after this song came out, a friend of ours who was a rodeo cowboy was killed in a head-on collision by a distracted driver. He was 29. This song was played at his funeral. We were all Garth fans then and we still are. Many things have happened since, so this song has so many meanings.
I worked a Garth concert back in the early 90s. He puts on a fantastic show. What I remember most was there was a young boy, maybe 4 or 5 years old, dressed like a mini Garth. Cowboy boots, bluejeans, buttondown shirt, and his cowboy hat. Absolutely adorable. Garth pulled him up on stage and sang to him and then gave him his acoustic guitar. That little boy had the time of his life that night. It was so sweet.
My Dad was on tour with him for 13 months back in the 90s. He was one of the truck drivers. He didn't want to go at first, then once he was he loved it.
This song was my pick to play at my Dad's funeral. Dad always said that as much pain as he had went through in his life (including 2 divorces) he knew that if he had changed anything, he wouldnt have had the life he had. I have lived my life by the same values. i cry like a baby everytime i hear this song, since that day,
90s country is the best country there is! Garth's catalog is so deep! Definitely check out The Thunder Rolls, Unanswered Prayers, Standing outside the fire, Friends in low places, Much too young (To feel this damn old) & Calling Baton Rouge are a few of my favs!
This song hits me hard every time. My parents split up when I was 10. a few years later, my sister had her sweet 16. My mom and dad shared a dance to this song at her party. I knew from a the moment they separated they would never be together again, but this song cemented in my mind that, regardless of the years of pain they had, they wouldn't have changed it.
So, to add some context to the song, on a CMT interview, Garth Brooks was asked who the song was about. He said that it was for everyone who had passed. Loved ones, all the famous singers. He went on to explain that “The Dance” was metaphorical. It is referring to all the time that we did get to have them with us and all the memories made from that time.
BP, we played this song at my 11 days old son's funeral in 1992. When you said bittersweet, you were correct. It helped with our healing as time went by. Love this song even today 32 years later.
This song was played at my daughter’s funeral. She was only 17. This song perfectly illustrates the feelings I’ve had and I’m very grateful to Garth Brooks for writing it.
The original video was amazing it shows the lives of John Wayne and Lane Frost and JFK. When I was in school we had a young man pass away in a motorcycle accident it hit us all hard. His mom held an assembly and played this song at the end.
This is a cover song. When Garth comes to town he has to add on so many more concert’s as he fills the area every night. One time he added 11 shows due to the massive demand to see him. Love his music and love him as a man. He stopped his huge career to raise his 3 daughters and then came back and is just as famous and in demand. You can’t go wrong with him. Love your reactions, thanks for sharing.

Garth is kinda infamous for his songs being harder to find online than most artists, and because of that, this is actually a cover. This song in particular is even harder to find Garth’s version than most of his other songs
My only child died in 2018. I do not believe life is better left to chance. I do not care about my personal growth. I want my son back. I would change everything. When he was 3 years old he would sing Garth Brooks' The River word for word. When I listen to it, I hear his sweet baby voice. I miss my boy so much.
It sounds like him . Wow! Great cover ! This song was played at my uncles funeral at his bequest ! His final gift of love . I love my uncle Larry , nobody has called me peanut since he died 😢. ❤
This was my moms fav Garth Song... and She would always love when I played it on the guitar and sung it for her... It was the last song I played her before she passed away last December!! Like you said... BITTER SWEET!! Her other Favorite from Garth Brooks was "If Tomorrow Never Comes" Plz do that one! .. My fav song of Garths that was from me to my mom.. it's called "Your Song" .. All AMAZING and very touching!!
His official video for this song was great it had MLK AND JFK it was wonderful. My husband and I of 32 years broke up when we had been dating for 4 years. We saw him perform as an opening act for King George Strait in Jackson Mississippi. The dance totally broke me down. It was exactly what was on my heart at the time. I will never forget that.
I found the video for The Dance, It came up under facebook best music videos. It is 4:06 seconds long. It has Garth speaking at the beginning. Has him giving his feelings about the song. Hope you get to see and comment on it. By the way I am 63 years old. Had a DJ show ( only vinyl and two turntables) Lived through the songs you are just now seeing and hearing. I like all types of music. Its not about the type of music. It's about the message. I appreciate you.
when was a kid was brought up listening to garrth brooks n shania twain love country music here from Devon, England some fav music, now listen to more rock/metal these days lol
“You then realize that you don't live your life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance.” Eckhart Tolle Thank you great reaction
This was played at my Grandpas funeral. I loved my Papa and he will always hold a special place in my heart. The dance is life and we enjoy moment in life with our loved ones and its best not to know how things will all turn out. Cherish time together while were alive ❤️❤️ Love you Grandma & Grandpa
We had a child walk away from our family and I still don’t understand why. This song brings me to tears every time. I’m grateful I didn’t miss the dance, even though it’s the greatest pain I have now.
Country and a great voice - try kd lang [brings chills...] either her cover of Roy Orbison's Crying or Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen's son when pressed if he, Cohen, would be there, said they knew she would be at the 2010 Olympics to perform it and "what more would you need?"}
It brings back memories of my son whom I lost when he was 16...it definitely meant so many different things to so many. P.S. I never officialky danced with my son...the word dance equated to so many things
this song hit the charts when my first husband was overseas in the gulf war..... not everyone made it back. the song, and events changed my life. I appreciate the moments more. it's beautiful.
Garth Brooks is an amazing performer and is a decent man. Every song is amazing. We Shall be Free is an amazing song. (My fave? ) this made me happy. Thanks
Garth , Trisha and his 3 girls lived in our in our part of Oklahoma until they moved to Nashville after his girl's grew up. He would show up at their soccer games and other activities. It was so awesome to see him in the stores around town. He was so nice and seemed happy to stop and talk. We miss him around here.
So you would know if this is really him. If it is you may want to make another comment or message this guy directly and tell him as a lot of people are saying it's someone else. I remember this song came out in my late teens early twenties and this is him young back then in the album cover.
Garth is country music! This is a cover, but this is still a great song. You would love "Papa loved mama". It's definitely more upbeat, and shows a different side of Garth. Also, "Unanswered prayers" is another great song. "The River", "Ain't going down till the sun comes up", and of course "Friends in low places". Garth has so so many big hits. He had to do an entire box set just for his greatest hits. Great reaction BP!
The picture in the paper showed the scene real well Papa's rig was buried in the local motel The desk clerk said he saw it all real clear He never hit the brakes and he was shiftin' gears
I have heard this song thousands of times and ive never hrard it interpretted it as reflecting back to your own life, but it fits. Ive always interpreted it as what you finally said, a funeral song. I could have missed all the pain of losing a loved one when they died, but by missing out on the pain, you would also have to miss all the reasons the loss is so painful.
Yo B.P you should check out Chris Stapleton covering Garth Brooks song shameless it was at a benefit honoring Garth Brooks👍👍 Chris Stapleton smashed it and made Garth Brooks shed a tear👍👍
You should definitely watch the live concert where he’s singing this and there’s a lady who held up a sign that she was going through chemo. It’s a tear jerker. His reaction to her.🥺 I’ve watched it multiple times and tear up every time.
The Garth concert was undoubtedly the best concert I have ever seen. He performed every one of his hits and never took a break. Love, love, love Garth!!!
Definitely a cover but a good one. The first song my husband and I danced to, slow set at the disco, he asked me to dance I said yes. 29yrs married now. Coincidentally I was wearing knee high boots(always have a pair), leather vest and a genuine American Stetson that night I guess that made me stand out in the crowd in small town Ireland 1990
I absolutely LOVE Garth! Been to a few of his concerts and they are the best I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to many ! Garth is so down to earth also! Super kind!
My dad was on tour for 13 months with him back in the 90s. The stories about how well they were treated were amazing. From shopping trips, to plane tickets, to renting out a baseball stadium so they could play softball and have a cookout.
I lost my husband to cancer . We were married 23 years. This song always makes me cry. Looking back i wish i would have appreciated my time with husband more. I took for granted that we would grow old together. 💔💔
As a Veteran, my hubby loves this song. Yes, there were hard times, ... yes, he was sent to many places that still haunts him to this day, ... yes, some things he didn't like doing ... but, having said this, had he not done those and had the pain, he'd have missed the good parts, hence the dance.
i used to lay in bed (after my bed time) and listen to garth brooks - the hits, on my discman. there's something beautiful about listening to "the dance" at max volume in total darkness.
Hey , i think you might owe us this one again! 😂 You have to have Garth sing it , and get the video to get the whole experience..Thanks Black Pegasus! Love watching your reactions!
You are right about the dance is a metaphor for memories or situations. The official music video shows the Challenger astronauts and JFK for example. Asking the questions, if you knew how it would end with tragedy and death, would you still choose to do it all again.
Holy Garth Brooks. Theres a couple tunes and i'm sure 99% will say listen to Thunder Rolls EXTENDED EDITION 'cause homie pulls out that gun and changes the meaning of the song. Thunder Rolls was a jam when i was 8 years old thinking it was fun. age 35 and it was dude was cheating and lady pulls out a gun on the guy. Thunder Rolls will never be the same
You are spot on to say this is about a moment and not necessarily a relationship. When this song came out in the 80’s, my friends were dying from AIDS, this song was played at every funeral I went to. Even now, my tears flow each time I hear this song. Thanks.
My 1st time hearing this song and the singer... Fell in love with the song by the end....replayed it straight away... I am going to play it again after I send off this post.
He did more Country Western crossing over and liked by EVERYONE, then anyone else. "FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES" ...sang in EVERY bar I went to...and in the East coast at that !
This was my graduation song a year before that my grandpa passed and we had at his funeral. He was all I could think about during my graduation I miss him very much. I now appreciate this song so much every time I hear it, it's like he's standing right next to me
I saw Garth in Edmonton, Alberta 2 summers ago. The energy he generates in the crowd is second to none except maybe Freedie Mercury. They just know how to work a crowd. And he is having such a good time on that stage.
holy shit i hear the cover like 10 seconds in. it isn't deep enough. I wonder if dude will figure it out or just be enamored with the lyrics. 100% aint garth and i can't watch this video.

We saw him perform as an opening act for King George Strait in Jackson Mississippi. The dance totally broke me down. It was exactly what was on my heart at the time. I will never forget that.
Saw Garth in Jackson, also. Great concert.
and Lane frost
Ain't going down till the sun comes up, fun song and if can find it Garth flies over the audience.
Our lives ARE the dance bro👍👍
I found the video for The Dance, It came up under facebook best music videos. It is 4:06 seconds long. It has Garth speaking at the beginning. Has him giving his feelings about the song. Hope you get to see and comment on it. By the way I am 63 years old. Had a DJ show ( only vinyl and two turntables) Lived through the songs you are just now seeing and hearing. I like all types of music. Its not about the type of music. It's about the message. I appreciate you.
🙌 this!!
Best Garth Brooks songs IMO,
Friends I Low Places...happy
If Tomorrow Never Comes...sad
Much Too Young...bittersweet
Unanswered Prayers...thankful
I would add - The River , The Night I Called The Old Man Out.
when was a kid was brought up listening to garrth brooks n shania twain love country music here from Devon, England some fav music, now listen to more rock/metal these days lol
oh yes
Garth is such a great storyteller. It's like he transports himself into the story he's singing about.
“You then realize that you don't live your life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance.” Eckhart Tolle
Thank you great reaction
Oh yeah... And Garth Brooks is one of the BEST Song Writers of all time too!!
I’m OBSESSED with Garth Brooks! Such a beautiful voice as well as human being!
Hurt is how we grow! Friends in Low Places for sure!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Watch the official video, it has famous people in it and their tragic lives... it will sum it all up. Such a beauty of a song.
Country and a great voice - try kd lang [brings chills...] either her cover of Roy Orbison's Crying or Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen's son when pressed if he, Cohen, would be there, said they knew she would be at the 2010 Olympics to perform it and "what more would you need?"}
Friends, family members, parents, children, random moments, yes... this song is about life. Remember the happiness of each - the Dance!
The message of this song is truly deep. To risk to love, it to feel the pain of loss.
This was played at my Dad's funeral at the request of my mom. 15 years later and it still hurts to listen to.
Same here, man, twenty-three years, and I'm still choking back the tears.
It brings back memories of my son whom I lost when he was 16...it definitely meant so many different things to so many. P.S. I never officialky danced with my son...the word dance equated to so many things
I am so sorry to read this, God bless you and please accept my deepest condolences.
Definitely my favorite country artist. I sadly never got to see him live. Too bad its not Garth
Garth Books live is amazing! So glad I got to see him live!
Unanswered Prayers is another great Garth Brooks song with a lot of meaning.
this song hit the charts when my first husband was overseas in the gulf war..... not everyone made it back. the song, and events changed my life. I appreciate the moments more. it's beautiful.
I have never been a big country fan but I have also always thought this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
Garth Brooks is an amazing performer and is a decent man. Every song is amazing. We Shall be Free is an amazing song. (My fave? ) this made me happy. Thanks
This is one is one of three songs that put me to tears. It is like personal.
Whoever this is covering Garth is doing a good job.
It's a lovely cover!! I agree ❤
Garth puts on one helluva show ❤❤
Garth , Trisha and his 3 girls lived in our in our part of Oklahoma until they moved to Nashville after his girl's grew up.
One of the most beautiful country songs ever written! ❤️
The picture in the paper showed the scene real well
Papa's rig was buried in the local motel
The desk clerk said he saw it all real clear
He never hit the brakes and he was shiftin' gears
I have heard this song thousands of times and ive never hrard it interpretted it as reflecting back to your own life, but it fits. Ive always interpreted it as what you finally said, a funeral song. I could have missed all the pain of losing a loved one when they died, but by missing out on the pain, you would also have to miss all the reasons the loss is so painful.
Yo B.P you should check out Chris Stapleton covering Garth Brooks song shameless it was at a benefit honoring Garth Brooks👍👍 Chris Stapleton smashed it and made Garth Brooks shed a tear👍👍
I used to dance at night with my beloved dog to this song.
I love you and miss you Blue❤😢
You should hear him perform it!
You should definitely watch the live concert where he’s singing this and there’s a lady who held up a sign that she was going through chemo. It’s a tear jerker. His reaction to her.🥺 I’ve watched it multiple times and tear up every time.
My very 1st concert I ever went to was Garth Brooks. I was in 8th grade and I'll never forget it!! He is Country Music!!! 🥰
Garth was my first concert too. I was in 9th grade. He's the best!!!
The Garth concert was undoubtedly the best concert I have ever seen. He performed every one of his hits and never took a break. Love, love, love Garth!!!
I love Garth Brooks and didnt recognize it wasn't him singing until halfway in
Definitely a cover but a good one.
He played 5 nights in Dublin in 2022, crowd of 80000 per night that's 400000.We Irish are Gareth Brooks mad.
Garth Brooks has sold more platinum records than any artist in music ever 🤯🤯🤯
I absolutely LOVE Garth! Been to a few of his concerts and they are the best I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to many ! Garth is so down to earth also! Super kind!
This song played on the radio rt after we buried my 24 yr old brother who passed in a car accident and I just cried and cried in the car alone. 😭🙏🕊️
This is not Garth Brooks singing. This is someone who is covering the song. It is really hard to actually find Garth songs
i used to lay in bed (after my bed time) and listen to garth brooks - the hits, on my discman. there's something beautiful about listening to "the dance" at max volume in total darkness.
Thanks.
Some songs will live on forever, this is one of them.
Another good aong by Garth is "the night i called the old man out"
My 1st time hearing this song and the singer... Fell in love with the song by the end....replayed it straight away... I am going to play it again after I send off this post.
This came out shortly before my husband died. So its very special to me. Next week would have been our 41st anniversary.
Played it at my 22 yr old sons funeral. Tears always stream down my face but I cannot turn it off.
I’m so sorry! I lost my husband too! 💔
To me.. Garth Brooks is the BEST Country Artist of ALL TIME!! BEST Entertainer of country music EVER!! IMO!!
Your opinion sucks 😂😅🤣🤪
He did more Country Western crossing over and liked by EVERYONE, then anyone else. "FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES" ...sang in EVERY bar I went to...and in the East coast at that !
This was my graduation song a year before that my grandpa passed and we had at his funeral. He was all I could think about during my graduation I miss him very much. I now appreciate this song so much every time I hear it, it's like he's standing right next to me
It's actually a great cover and still stirred up the same emotions in me as Garth singing it.
I saw Garth in Edmonton, Alberta 2 summers ago. The energy he generates in the crowd is second to none except maybe Freedie Mercury. They just know how to work a crowd. And he is having such a good time on that stage.
Speaking of "dance..life's dance"...play Lee Ann Womack's song "I HOPE YOU DANCE" !!!!!
Chris and Morgane Stapleton covered "I Hope You Dance" for the St. Jude Radiothon a few years back. It's so good.
As my mom started to cry listening to this she reminded me this song was played at my dad funeral for her
That's NOT Garth!!! We KNOW his voice!!!
This song was played at my Grandfathers,,Dad's an my cousins funeral. Three generations as of now
This isn’t Garth…it’s a cover!!!
Wow. You are 💯 correct
Dude does a really good job tho.
holy shit i hear the cover like 10 seconds in. it isn't deep enough. I wonder if dude will figure it out or just be enamored with the lyrics. 100% aint garth and i can't watch this video.
Definitely not Garth.
Garth's voice is deeper, but this is a decent cover.
"Much to Young to Feel This Damn Old" is a great Garth Brooks song.
