He wasn't ready to die when he recorded this. He was only in his twenties. In the Seventies, however, I believe his Spirit was often in turmoil. At the end of his Las Vegas shows, he couldn't go to sleep before spending two or three hours singing gospel songs with his singers. He invited them to his hotel room to harmonize with him, and they would go through all of his old favorite gospel songs. It was the only thing that would give him peace in his soul
JB he's the biggest star in this country's history not even close. Who's the biggest selling artist of all time over one and a half billion records. His satellite concert in 1973 was seen by 1.5 billion people when there were only 4 billion people on earth and there was no internet to promote it. Elvis out did the moon landing audience by more than two times that's how big Elvis was he's the biggest of all time bigger than Michael Jackson bigger than Frank Sinatra he's number one as far as being big in this country nobody comes close believe me.
I don't know if your referring to the US but he's also the biggest ever selling artist in the UK aswell more no1 singles than any other artist and currently 3rd in albums were he was previously no 1
@ianraymondback THATS nice to know😊 THANK YOU TO ALL ACROSS THE THE WATERS, BELIEVE ME HE WANTED TO GO AROUND THE WORLD TO SHOW HE LOVED ALL. WELL WE KNOW HIS MANAGER WASN'T GOING TO LET THAT HAPPEN. BLESS ALL THAT HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN HIM.TAKE CARE FRIENDS 🕊🕊🕊
So glad you're learning about and appreciating one of the greatest human beings that ever lived. I can feel you are connecting to his beautiful heart and soul.. Keep going brother.. More Elvis please....
Yeah Colonel Parker his rip off agent the Dutchman who wasn't a legal citizen and a mad gambler.. Elvis was 42 when he died but I never think of him as dead. He will always be alive to me...
If you want a song where Elvis is near the end of his life but reaches into your chest with his voice and wrenches out your soul, please listen to O Great Thou Art, live in 1977. The three grammies were all for gospel songs, including that one. Also worth a mention are the live performances in Vegas 1970, white jumpsuit, and seek out the vocal only version of Just Pretend and really immerse yourself in that inimitable sweet voice. ❤
A beautiful man , singing beautiful music , revealing his beautiful heart and soul ! Elvis was , and still is , and always will be THE MAN ... TCB forever and ever !
He was 42 he was used ,and abused by so many people worked to death ,plus he had so many ailments ,glaucoma ,heart disease ,enlarged colon ,he hurt everywhere ,god called this beautiful man home ,
I really love how you respond to Elvis singing this song. I listen to it a lot of times, and he really speaks to my situation right now. He is anointed by the Lord with the voice to sing gospel songs. I am tired and worn from fighting with my lymphoma cancer. I have faith and trust God for His healing power in my life.
God is always there for us all.Elvis for all of his crazy life in the spotlight was a Christian. He loved gospel music growing up in Mississippi and he trained his voice singing these hymns. He has such a smooth voice but the feeling is from inside himself that comes through and is real.
I'm not a gospel song fan per se but when Elvis sings gospel it moves me. Can you think of another singer who breaks out in a gospel song during a rock and roll concert. Amazing man, amazing talent.
Elvis was just back to recording after serving in the Army. His mother had passed away when he first went into the service 1958 and he wanted to record gospel to honor her. They sang gospel at home. He attended church with his family. I saw a rare home recording of Elvis singing gospel with his mom and dad. This was his earliest exposure to gospel music. I get goosebumps when I listen to Elvis music. He touches your soul.
Elvis was young when he sang this song. His voice hadn't matured yet and he was a young man when he sang this song; probably in his 20's. Elvis was 42 when he died.
His voice is stunning! Elvis gospel is EVERYTHING!! Love your Elvis reactions. Check out Stranger In My Own Hometown XRATED BLUES VERSION. It will make you smile 😊
Elvis made you feel what he was singing. He was young and healthy when he recorded this. He was a story teller with each word you believe as he did in word he sang.
Elvis favorite gospel song to sing during his concerts was “How Great thou Art”. He did an amazing version in his last 1977 TV concert. Even though he was so sick his voice was great. There is another version 1973 that you can compare blue suit.
Very happy to be seeing more younger people reacting to Elvis' legacy and voice. It is like being spoonfed honey by the angels. This is what I want played at my funeral. Nobody can sing like Elvis. Maybe if Tom had the heart to say "I'm too old to travel the world with you, go with my blessing" things may have worked out very differently. By all accounts he was a belligerent and mean individual. That said, Elvis didn't have the self belief and confidence to fire him and stick to it. I love Elvis, every little thing about him, his talent and his body of work but he lacked a backbone and didn't take interest in the business side of things. Jerry Schilling or Joe could've stepped in and done a better job. All Elvis needed was a good team of lawyers to hash out the detaild and to put distance between himself and the fake colonel. Elvis never knew that he was illegally living in the US. The recent film added that in and the on stage scene of Elvis firing him publicly. Either way, Elvis held onto him for fear of losing what tom parker DID do for Elvis, his job was Promoter, not manager. Ultimately only Elvis could decide and only he could save himself. Good to see You reacting to the E-Man, and Enjoying Yourself in the process!! Looks like you are doing Well, and that makes me Glad James! Have a Blessed and Safe Holiday, and Keep in touch with the Lord! No Better Medicine around!🤠👍💯
Like one other person mentioned, Elvis will take you to church!! He was one of God’s special creations! I have been praying more lately myself. I will be sure to lift you up in my prayers and you do the same for me brother!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻☝🏻
This song was recorded in 1957, some twenty years before he died. It was before he was drafted and served his tour in Germany. He had a versatile voice that could portray deep sadness (Love Me Tender) as well as playful fun (Jailhouse Rock), but it seems his favorite Genre was Gospel, and he performed it with the reverence and solemnity it deserved. Elvis was a bit of a financial trainwreck, and it can be argued that Colonel Tom Parker kept him from fading away.
Both Parker and Elvis’ bitter ex bled him dry financially and used him as a soulless commodity. In the end, he could not take the time to rest, rethink ,and recharge his creativity. In great physical pain and near death, as both Parker and Priscilla could plainly see, they came in to pick him clean of whatever they could before he died. Elvis had no future except to do unending concerts to satisfy their greed, until his body gave out.
PLEASE REACT TO HIS SONG FROM HIS MOVIE KING CREOLE SCENE ITS CALLED NEW ORLEANS U WILL LOVE IT THANKS FOR UR ELVIS REACTIONS HE WAS 42 WHEN HE PASSED AWAY!
Only in his early 20s here but sings with such maturity and wonderful breath control and technique. He was not classically trained or never had formal singing lessons. He sang gospel all the way throughout his life. This is young Elvis. He just had such a unique way of conveying the message of a song ❤
I've been enjoying your reactions for a while now and finally became a subscriber. I'm obsessed with your obsession over Caitlyn Clark. Those reactions are so much fun! I have a few Elvis gospel suggestions for you: You'll Never Walk Alone Lead Me, Guide Me His Hand in Mine Reach Out to Jesus
If you go back 3-4 years ago, you'll see a beautiful soul inside out and I think you pick up more than you realize God. Bless you and look after that sister of yours. And your family. I remember you talked about a younger sister a few years ago. Take care God bless and stay safe. Much love from Canada.🇨🇦👋♥️🕊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🕊
Elvis was young when he recorded this but he always made you feel the music. Hard to choose a favorite Elvis song but this is on my list of multiple favorites. Would like this played at my celebration of life when the time comes.
Thank you for reacting to ELVIS singing Precious Lord Take my Hand , and your exactly correct in my opinion to the feeling of his emotional spirit and soul , I know that Last concert is extremely hard at times to watch , cause when he sings Hurt at the end with his dear friend, Charlie Hodge, it to me felt like he was saying Good Bye to the fans he loved so much , I was not at the concert, but I was blessed to see him 3 times in concert and He is a Priceless Gift from God, no one can touch your soul like Elvis , it's not even a possible,, ELVIS Left us 8.-16-77 , it's the worst day of my life and he was my 42 years old , and he just gave his heart and soul to making others smile, Elvis is not just a Mystical Blessing, he was a Loving Man who gave all of himself, yes, he was tired and although this song makes me cry , it's understandable to see and feel his heart ache , as he always said The Myth is One Thing and the Man is another , he said it's hard to live up to an image, you can see the interview of him saying these words when he broke all attendance records at Madison Square Gardens, I am praying that he can see the Love around the World for him , he always thought he would be forgotten , Never in a lifetime and beyond is that going to happen Thank you 🙏 TCB1935 .
He truly loved God. So his gospel music was not just music. "His Hand In Mine" was his gospel album I played a zillion times. Since I was little, in the late 60s. Every single cut on it was unbelievably gorgeous.
This song was written by Thomas A. Dorsey. It would be worth your time to look him up and read about his life and how he came to write this beautiful song. He was an inspiration. He also wrote Peace in the Valley. I don't know if Elvis sang it, but Ernie Ford did a really good recording of it.
I love Elvis Gospel songs. It helped me a lot. Elvis was only 42 years ago when he passed away. His crooked manager and all those leeches took advantage of his generosity. Elvis was beautiful inside & out. I pray he is in peace and happy in heaven 🙏🏽❤🕊️
Elvis recorded this song very early in his career, on January 13, 1957. Less than a week after his 22nd Birthday. Which would have been on January 8. I can see how you may have thought it was near the end of his life though, because the lyrics of this song, describe exactly where he would be 20 years later, when he passed at the young age of only 42.
This was sung in 1957 so the start of his career. Unchained melody is great but yes he was ill but he was fine mentally if you want to see how good he was check out the song Hurt from 77
The magic of Elvis' heartfelt vocals fooled you into believing that he was living those lyrics. When he actually recorded this song in 1957. You may be interested to read about the composer of this song, Thomas A. Dorsey. He also wrote "Peace in the Valley". en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_A._Dorsey "Dorsey wrote "Precious Lord" in response to his inconsolable bereavement at the deaths of both his wife, Nettie Harper, in childbirth, and their infant son, in August 1932." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Take_My_Hand,_Precious_Lord
We had this played at my Father’s funeral. Elvis was just pure perfection. His three Grammys were for gospel music 🎵. Undoubtedly, the most loved entertainer on the planet 🌍. Thank you for sharing your reaction. He died way too young at 42. Col Parker was a parasite 🦠
So glad to see you're still here!!! You need to go back and listen to David Phelps and his daughter perform "Water", Bridge over troubled water, Dust in the wind, He has some mind-blowing new music!
You mentioned watching Elvis sing "Unchained Melody". He actually died not to long after that. They say that was his last performance before dying. Sad.
Hello James, it's your brother James. I recommend you watch "glory glory hallelujah/....God bless, keep those positive thoughts alive and apply them in all of your endeavors.... James Zrenjad Desjardins
He was 42 when he died. But here he is 22 years old. It's 1957. Elvis had that voice..that inclination, that it made you think of Calvary. - "Reverend William Herbert Brewster, Sr.". He is young and healthy here, but gospel was always Elvis first love. He sings with emotions like nobody. Love your passion about him though.
Most of his gospel songs, including this one, were recorded pretty early in his career. I own some of those original record albums. Have you listened to Peace In The Valley or the many others? beautiful and inspiring! He was raised in a Pentecostal Church and unfortunately got caught up in the worldy system that made him famous, but also used and abused him. His agent just kept driving him until there was nothing left of his life, and he died at age 42.
It's from 1957, "Elvis' Christmas Album". Sometimes we all have times when we feel weak and think life is too hard to go on. Think of Elijah, the prophet. Jezabel wanted to kill him. He was full of fear and wanted to die, but God said to him "No. Eat something and get up. You're not alone. I'm not done with you yet." Christians pray and God helps them in every situation. This song is for everyone who is in such a difficult situation.
Let the tears flow for they are tears of joy that Our Heavenly Father allowed Elvis to be on this earth and share his unmatchable talent with us.
A very compassionate reaction to a powerful song and beautiful human being. Thank you❤
When i am weak and tired i listen to Elvis. He gave me strength many times.
Great reaction! Thank you so much!💚☀️

This was one of my grandmother's favorite songs. She would sing it in church and has "Precious Lord Take My Hand" on her gravestone. ❤
So glad you're learning about and appreciating one of the greatest human beings that ever lived. I can feel you are connecting to his beautiful heart and soul.. Keep going brother.. More Elvis please....
Hermosas y genuinas palabras.
Elvis always the best and his gospel songs are so beautiful
Even sadder, his daughter is gone, now.
And his grandson. All so terribly tragic.
He recorded this when he was in his twenties. Beautiful!
He was only 42 years young, "Why Me LORD." Is another beautiful gospel song by Elvis
Prayer can strengthen us like nothing else can. ❤
Elvis was 42 when he passed

Praying for you sister. Edify one another in hard times.. I pray in the name of Jesus for your full healing..Amen
This was years before he passed away! He was in good health was good during this time
God is always there for us all.Elvis for all of his crazy life in the spotlight was a Christian. He loved gospel music growing up in Mississippi and he trained his voice singing these hymns. He has such a smooth voice but the feeling is from inside himself that comes through and is real.
This album was released in 1960-61. He was in very good shape during this period. He’s just sending a message that God will pull you through anything.
This one makes me tear up ! What can I say , ELVIS! ❤🙏
He has many other gospel songs that you should dive into.
There was never a more "smooth" voice than that of Elvis. He still goes.
I'm not a gospel song fan per se but when Elvis sings gospel it moves me. Can you think of another singer who breaks out in a gospel song during a rock and roll concert. Amazing man, amazing talent.
Totally agree

Got to disagree, in his prime in this.
He was 42
Another great song "Oh Danny Boy" An old Irish song. Elvis sings it so beautifully...
Gospel + Elvis = ❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏❤🙏
His voice is stunning! Elvis gospel is EVERYTHING!! Love your Elvis reactions. Check out Stranger In My Own Hometown XRATED BLUES VERSION. It will make you smile 😊

His gospel music is incomparable.

I didn't know religion but his gospel songs let me believe and sleep
Beautiful reaction❤❤
JB another good one is CRYING IN THE CHAPEL
💯👍❤️
Two more gospel songs from elvis if that isn't love + i believe 🙏
This was released in 1957 when Elvis was 22 years old.
At that time he was full of energy and changing the world.
Beautiful rendition by Elvis.
Very happy to be seeing more younger people reacting to Elvis' legacy and voice.
It is like being spoonfed honey by the angels. This is what I want played at my funeral. Nobody can sing like Elvis. At 1:30 I wasnt expecting his tone to dip and it took my soul with it. You think he sings this at the end of his life, no this was in 1957, he was a baby of 22 whose voice transcended age, colour, genre. He lifts and drops you depending on his delivery.
Pls do some reading around the official sources of Elvis first hand information. The fake colonel didn't rip him off, he put a stupid agreement to Elvis and being an uneducated hick and not being business savvy, Elvis took it. He never read the contracts, believing tom was like a father figure rather than a degenerate gambling A hole. Apart from blues artists, and stale frank sinatra type artists NOBODY knew how to manage someone like Elvis when he burst onto the scene. He blazed an untrodden path blindly.
He was too keen on getting wasted and letting his dad deal with finances and correspondence and too interested in messing around with as many women as he could get.
Sadly, tom & Priscilla both bled him dry and put additional strain on his output for leeching more money out of him.
His talent and stature unmatched to this day. He was THE FIRST MEGASTAR, evwryone else followed him. We realise now he was a musical genius, his voice today cannot be autotuned because he used it perfectly. His style was unique and so he remains timeless and therefore relevant today. "That echo will never die", literally.
Man was off the charts 🔥🔥🔥 in every way. He is missed, and went to his grave thinking he would be forgotten. The pressure of being Elvis (the image) was too much.
Long live the King ❤
He was 42 yrs old when he sadly passed away and the USA went into a deep mourning, I will never forget crying when I heard
👌👌👌👌
…Phenomenal!! … Elvis has everything a singer needs: GOOD LOOKS, GOOD MANNERS, HUMOR, SEXY, a stunning VOICE... and above all an incredible CHARISMA!! ... a singer for eternity!! ✨💎✨🕺🏻🕯 Thank you
Good insight James. I really never thought about this in the context of his life.
My mom was devastated when Elvis passed. 😢
His voice is almost like a soft whisper. It’s so beautiful ❤
Elvis was the greatest singer of all time, his moves, his looks an that smile one gorgeous human being
He was 42 years old. His body had really been thru it.
Good to see You reacting to the E-Man, and Enjoying Yourself in the process!! Looks like you are doing Well, and that makes me Glad James! Have a Blessed and Safe Holiday, and Keep in touch with the Lord! No Better Medicine around!🤠👍💯
Have always loved Elvis. Saw him in concert in 1975. What a gift the Lord gave him.
Like one other person mentioned, Elvis will take you to church!! He was one of God’s special creations! I have been praying more lately myself. I will be sure to lift you up in my prayers and you do the same for me brother!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻☝🏻

They both will have to answer to their creator when they stand before God🙏🏻🔥
Another gospel of this level category is I BELIEVE. Also goosepumps.
I have a few Elvis gospel suggestions for you:

God worked thru his gospel songs. All of them.
Elvis was 42 yrs old when he went home to the Lord!

fill your home with Gospel music...it will bless you
Hey was only 42 yrs old when he passed! Gospel was always his favorite especially from black churches...where he grew up!
ELVIS❤
I find this one a little ironic, since I lost my mother last week and had this played at her service 😢.
I am sorry for your loss... ❤
My condolences
He truly loved God. So his gospel music was not just music.
"His Hand In Mine" was his gospel album I played a zillion times. Since I was little, in the late 60s. Every single cut on it was unbelievably gorgeous.
Thomas Dorsey wrote this song, was song by Mahalia Jackson way back in the 50's. One of the most popular gospel songs ever
This song was written by Thomas A. Dorsey. It would be worth your time to look him up and read about his life and how he came to write this beautiful song. He was an inspiration. He also wrote Peace in the Valley. I don't know if Elvis sang it, but Ernie Ford did a really good recording of it.
This one will definitely be played at my home going. In fact, Elvis will sing me on to Glory.

And so loved Gospel.
My first favorite Elvis song was Crying in the Chapel.
The power of prayer
This was sung in 1957 so the start of his career. Unchained melody is great but yes he was ill but he was fine mentally if you want to see how good he was check out the song Hurt from 77
The magic of Elvis' heartfelt vocals fooled you into believing that he was living those lyrics. When he actually recorded this song in 1957. You may be interested to read about the composer of this song, Thomas A. Dorsey. He also wrote "Peace in the Valley". en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_A._Dorsey

If you having did Elvis live performance of Bridge over troubled water. Which is a cover of Simon and Garfunkel. CK it out it great

..............yes, keep praying...........................Hebrews 11:1 what a GREAT passage! just sub'd.
Sad.
Through technology, he does a duet of same song with his daughter, Lisa Marie. Still powerful
42 years old-way too young. I saw him live in Spokane the year before he passed away.
He's 22 hear.👑👌
Go to Memphis TN. And graceland...you'll be blown away!
Hello James, it's your brother James. I recommend you watch "glory glory hallelujah/....God bless, keep those positive thoughts alive and apply them in all of your endeavors.... James Zrenjad Desjardins
Elvis was 21 years when he made this song, he died at ONLY 42 years young.
It is hard to believe that he FAILED during the music lessons in school...
