    Hey man I've played a couple of matches with you In public and heard you talking about the league. I didn't even know it existed. Then i found all these videos through the discord channel and now I'm really excited to try to work my way onto a team and play at a higher level. Thanks for all the great tips these are the most informative videos I've found

    Thanks for sharing so much useful information based on your knowledge and experience. This game is fantastic, and even better when played with the tactics you describe.

    That's hilarious dude. I was just playing onward and realized I was a little out of my league and I needed to brush up on the call outs. So I do a TH-cam search.
    And I find a video from you. I was just playing with you

      I remember playing with you. Thanks for watching, and I'm sure we will see each other in game again.

      Lesson #1: No M203 in comp lobby.

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, you were cool about it though. You'd be amazed how many people flip out and start name-calling when I politely ask them not to do things like that in a comp lobby.

      And for the record, it's only certain maps where it's banned. M203 HE rounds and RPGs are allowed on Downfall, Quarantine and Snowpeak. M203 smoke rounds are always allowed.

    I like to establish where north is and that helps random players understand

    Could you clarify what you meant by the watch compass isn't accurate? Thanks.

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The watch gives relative coordinates, not absolute coordinates. So if you say "Enemy at 270" then it's 270 relative to your position. For someone who isn't standing directly next to you, this is confusing, potentially dangerous (since you can focus your aim the wrong way) information. Giving degrees is a bad practice anyway since giving directions like that isn't precise enough - so what if they're 270? On a big map in particular that's not helpful. That's why everyone uses map callouts.

    Thats why im always say that on MY twelve. So people dont confuse it with another direction, if i suspect people didnt get it i'd just repeat it till people get it.

    Awesome video, great content and really helpful advice. I'll definitely be looking up the maps online tonight.
    Out of curiosity, is there anything you DO use the watch for? or do you basically ignore it? It seems like a cool, immersive feature but I'm not sure what the value in actual games would be if everyone uses other reference points.
    Thanks!

      Thanks man, I appreciate it. The watch is useful for keeping track of time, which is incredibly important since rounds have a six minute limit. As a defender you are trying to force the time to zero, and on offense you need to either win or die before that happens.

      @@ThetaVR awesome, thanks for the fast reply! that does sound really useful.
      I'll put some time into the game and get some experience behind my next question (:

    Damn I actually thought the bearing on the watch was accurate for everyone 🤡

    Onward devs: “let’s give players the ability to see coordinates on their watch to call out other player’s directions”
    Onward players: “Rule number 1 don’t use coords.. like at all.
    Seems like there’s a disconnect with the community and the devs if everyone says that coordinates are worthless. Might as well take them out and replace it with community used terms for locations on the map

    • @ThetaVR
      @ThetaVR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great idea. The coordinates are worse than useless since they're relative, and they only add confusion for new players. The watch should just be there to keep track of time.
