Fun fact, majority of the bad stigma about furies came from the second meeting of confurence, where due to people outside the fandom of far less than savory interest being invited personally by the person running it has caused the furry name to be tainted. Despite a lot of effort going into cleaning up the name and what it represents, the shadow of that dumpster fire still haunts the fandom. Even to today there are people I know who don't view the fandom kindly, and I can only hope that one day we will be able to finish shedding that bad reputation.

I found this fact odd, but there is an official furry convention in China of all places. Something like Guangzhou Furry Summer Festival (妖都兽夏祭) in 2017. Don't know anything about the current iteration or anything, but I learned about it towards June of 2018 and the website looked super cool and high-tech compared to what I usually see
