Is this a sort of "sexual orientation" which refers to an attraction to "exotic peoples"? What is the point of a fursuit? How do you deal with normie bigots? Again, I am quite excited about this.
The Naked Argonian, I can answer one question! What defines a furry is simply someone who enjoys or has an interest anthropomorphic animals! :) If you draw, watch movies about or read about these animals with humanoid features, like talking, walking on their hind legs, wearing clothes, or think they are really cool, then you are most likely a furry. Some people think you have to have a fursuit to be a furry but that is not the case with most people in the famdom :P
Dragon Jewel Makes sense, although being anthropomorphic, I think even "exotic people" would be more fitting. Furry characters are sentient and capable of speech, so I have reason to believe that they are people, not animals. Just my two cents.
The Naked Argonian Anthropomorphic animals, or anthro for short, is just a fancy term for humanoid animals. I think "exotic people" sounds a little misleading haha ^^

Not that it's degrading, just less than accurate. Maybe just "anthro" will work. I take no issue with calling "ferals" animals - they're quadrupeds through-and-through - just the bipeds with their habits and cultures and such.

How could I find any furry friends if I'm in the middle of nowhere and the only other furs I've seen are hours away? Rural areas are extremely difficult for people to meet. I can't even make non-fur friends in this town. Oneida, Tn for reference.
That used to be the case for me when I first got into the fandom. If there aren't any nearby furs, start a local group through social media! Be the furry to take the first step. Once we started a local group we found a lot more furries than we thought we would. In some cases though you may have to travel a few hours away for a fur meet, especially if you're in an extremely rural part of the country. It sucks but sometimes that's how it is ;-; If it makes you feel any better the nearest fur con for me was FWA (6+ hours) until last year.
I met another furry during my drama class. I draw on my pencil case and I had drawn my Fursona. He picked my pencil case up, looked at me and asked if I was a furry. I said yes and he was like "me too!" Best start to my school year
A girl in my class was drawing anthropomorphic animals. I asked her what she was doing and she is apparently a furry too! She just got into the fandom s couple weeks ago and we are now good friends
Thanks! Most people just make them but you can buy them made-to-order from a few sites like Etsy. They're called "follow-me eyes". The eyes are concave as opposed to being entirely flat which allows them to give the illusion of the eyes following you from every angle. If you Google "fursuit follow me eyes" one of the first links is actually a video tutorial on how to make them.

This was nicely put together, Stormi (and Glitch!) Furry Amino started it for me, finding a group chat for furs near a major city near me. Since then, I've met others who live in the county and a few in my town! Telegram has also helped me to keep in touch with good friends in the Midwest and east coast

I actually would consider myself a furry since early 2010 but I got into this interest pretty early, so I just kept it to myself all these years, saw hundreds of great videos in the early 2010s, but never really socialized with other furries until today. Now that I'm mid 20, finished with my studies and will start working in a few weeks, I want to be more active and make experiences within the fandom. But then I realized that I don't personally know one single furry and generally the people I'm hanging with maybe aren't the right persons to tell anything about it because they are quite judgemental and unopen about many things and it woulnd't help me with my wish for somebody interested about it.

So I live in a small country town and I have tried everything I can think of but I seem to be the only Furry what should I do? Also I tried the surrounding towns with no luck. I even tried a city that's about 120 km away but still no luck.

I recently bought a shirt that says "I'm wearing this because I don't own a fursuit"
So I live in a small country town and I have tried everything I can think of but I seem to be the only Furry what should I do? Also I tried the surrounding towns with no luck. I even tried a city that's about 120 km away but still no luck.

Massachusetts has a fur bowl every month! I live on the cape, so it’s really easy to access (only a 20 minutes drive for me!)

I found one of my local furs and became friends with him because he used a oc name when ordering pizza and i delivered there and I was like, hey you in this community and we been talkin since and hooked me in the local fur community, really great :P
