      @Avoncarstien 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Szanth This is fair. It's closer to a puzzle or the like, but it's a colloquialism so *shrug*
      If anything it seems like he's carried over the limitation from Tetris of only being able to think about how the new object fits into the spaces you have. He gets all his tiny items scrunched up on the right side, when given the size of the inventory (5 high, 10 wide), and the size of "big" objects (2 wide, 3 high), you can't stack them vertically... Would be more practical to stack all the tiny stuff along the top or bottom rather than eating up valuable vertical real-estate.
      Ah well, he'll figure it out.

    When you do dungeons, break everything. The loot you get is far more valuable than the weapon durability you lose. Keep in mind that smashing shit makes noise that attracts enemies. I'd say you get an additional 500 gold per 3 floor dungeon just by smashing stuff (mostly from alcohol).

    Just move anything that takes up 1 or 2 squares of height on the grid to the bottom section of your inventory and try to avoid stacking things up unnecessarily to leave room for things with a height of 3 or 4.
    Also, I dunno about other bows, but that Peasant Bow had -60% Accuracy, and the plain Short Bow appears to have -58% Accuracy. Looking back at Episode 4, the Levy Bow had -52%, and the Norse Bow had -47%... Which, those are all pretty bad, but it's at least better, and I would assume the Ranged Weapon skills (and Agility) would help out with that.

  • @Drew88317

    One thing that may help you out, especially against humanoids indoors, is right clicking yourself and using shout. If you shout from around a corner and bide your time, more often than not you can get a free critical so long as the enemy still has the ??? above their heads. High perception enemies will still see you but low level seems to go pretty well. Your perception however is often low at this point so if you think there is an enemy try sitting behind the corner, shouting, then waiting, then go in if nothing happens.
    Secondarily, doors. Clear out rooms that have no doors first, because doors block a lot of the sound. If you open up doors you're more likely to get flanked later on.

    NL if you can't hit someone with a bow, PRESS CTRL to enter combat mode and the bow will shoot where you CLICK.

  • @freddymcfred17
    @freddymcfred17 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding the bow, it has a negative 60% accuracy by default. They're designed to be nearly useless unless you unlock the first bow skill which increases your bow accuracy by a lot. It makes it so you can only shoot once per two turns, but your shots will actually hit most of the time. Without having that, the bow is basically just for pulling so all those arrows you have are kind of a waste of inventory space.

    Bow has great range, and you can aggro a single enemy even if it takes several tries to hit. Then you kite it away and kill with sword. So you can fight bandits 1 at a time if you don't get seen. Unfortunately, it may take until 4th level before you get a bow book in a bookcase and get the take aim to actually hit stuff.

  • @Bordey

    NL put small items (1x1, 1x2, 2x1) on the bottom of the inventory in a horizontal line, not vertically like you have them on the left side of your inventory. That way you have more room for items that are tall, like weaponry or pelts.

    personally i think you should give up bows; without enough perception and their basic skill (taking aim) they are useless.
    if you want something to hunt animals and close distances then you can get a melee weapon skill that does that, alerting one enemy at a time can be done without bows and even sometimes by shouting (done by right-clicking on your character, but it's a bit difficult ) and if you think you are too fragile for melee combat thats probably because you are wearing broken armor that litterally provides no protection.
    if you don't like melee you could just start over with another character. geomancer jonna is basically easy mode

      @@JokerandThief42 while i'm not an expert on this games melee combat since most of my experience is with jonna i still don't think you need a bow to kite enemies, espescially in dungeons since hallways are one tile wide. and imo fire barrage is a better SP investment since it takes only one turn and doesnt require changing loadouts.
      furthermore, not every build needs a bow; mages have all the ranged attacks in the world and staffs are still decent melee weapons in case they run out of energy.
      all in all though i think melee combat still needs improvement. But looking at the great swords' and daggers' skill trees i think could potentially be very fun.

    The bow pretty much requires 1 point in archery. Trying to fire a bow without any skill goes as well in game as it does in real life. Putting just 1 skill point in bows is mandatory, otherwise you won't hit the broadside of a barn.

    Mace and shield combo served me well. Constantly stunning everything and dazing them. I spent so much time with pelts and weapons in item management though, NL's LITTLEST mistakes are just lost time and gold, not to mention managing his inventory in my own mind just to picture it. Also, backpack or cloak?

    Hey NL, if you yourself picked up a bow and started firing on moving targets in the woods with tree cover, what do you think the chances you'd hit an arrow would be? You should think of it in the same way with your character in stoneshard. They can't really do anything that they haven't done before unless they invest time and levels into it. Don't sweat the bows brother, play to your strengths.

    Mindwort and brandy both boost sanity. Brandy can also be used for pain. Just get drunk in a corner somewhere and rest until sober.
    You should probably put two points into geomancy for crowd control. Stun them with a boulder and make walls with stone spikes.
    Get rid of the bow OR put a point into it.
    Go run missions for FAR better experience and cash. There is nothing in the woods worth enough money and experience to justify hanging out there any longer than you have to.
