I ending to this song is epic. When Glenn comes in early on the word "same", I jumped to my feet the first time I heard it. The problem is, I was laying on my bed. :)
I love the Cathedrals and I have heard almost all of there songs. But this was probably the best overall performance that I have ever heard from them. Especially the ending. A classic
I love that too! We always rewind that on the CD in the car. Then Webster comes in with a powerful "same" right after Glen. Everybody singing puts power into the ending!
The ending is masterful, no matter how many times I hear it, I am inspired by their ability to blend as no one else has ever done. I sure do miss them. They connected with the audience is a very unique way, at every concert.
Agreed and also to consider that line up hadn’t sung together in a long time and still nailed that ending. Pure talent. Pure class. But always humble, that was the secret.
This lineup sang together in the 70's so many newer gospel fans are not aware of this lineup. They won the Cathedrals their very first Dove Award for "Group of the Year". What a voice Roy Tremble has. One of my favorite Cathedrals line up behind of course the original lineup.
Yes, Danny will always be my favorite, but Roy was on fire that night. I still think Danny did better that night due to the fact that his "Somebody Touched Me" performance was simply incredible. But this performance brought the house down, thanks to Roy.
You are right. Had not heard that in a while and forgot how he just blasted the end of the second verse and finished the chorus with his trademark power.
@rdtremble I'm so glad to hear that, and it's certainly no surprise that he's still singing & has a ministry. Your dad is a very special person to a lot of folks, myself included. I hope that you've followed him as a role model. I clearly remember being in the audience one night in the '70s, last appearance of a tour, and Roy announced he was going home to experience the birth of his child. Please let us all know how to get in touch with Roy.
@lonemapper I hung out with the guys occasionally in the 70s, and backstage, Roy would warm-up with arias from Handel. He's quite a musician and an equally gifted photographer.
@moproducer I had forgot but you are right. I would stare and read every letter printed on a Cats album and the credit of photographer was given to Roy Tremble. Roy must have been classically trained. He had incredible range. If you have more stories I would love to hear.
I have found that Jesus never alters he is the same yesterday, today and forever. I had never heard this song before and am having difficulty making out the words of the second verse if you could post them I would appreciate it. Any other renditions with Roy Tremble in them would be appreciated.
So beautiful, there are no words to describe how wonderful I feel when I hear them sing this song. thank you for sharing this video, I love the Cathedrals. Can anyone tell me if there are any other similar songs just like this one? I just discovered them and I wanna hear more. thank you
@moproducer WOW! $15000.00 in the 70's was quite a bit of money. I was singing in a quartet that was booked in Akron around 1980 and met Becky. She attended the church that we sang at. I don't know what to say to her, plus I am a eighteen year old kid at the time and I just bombarded her with questions of the group. She was very gracious. Thanks for the stories. If you have more, would like to hear.
@lonemapper Back in those days, they all had some sideline work to supplement their incomes (the Cats didn't hit the big bucks until well into the 80's). Roy and his then-wife Becky had a photography service in Akron. Roy carried about $15,000 worth of Hasselblad cameras and lenses everywhere he went.
@rdtremble LOL. You are not biased, just have good taste. It's great to hear from you, hope you are doing good. Big Cats fan, your Dad's sound is tattooed on my brain. Any chance George Amon, Lorne, Roy and some good old bass singer doing a Cathedral thing? That would be awesome.
@lonemapper No, I haven't seen them in many years. I got curious and Googled, but I found that Roy's website is defunct. I see that he's made some recent solo appearances, and apparently still lives in Akron. I'd like to see that lineup myself. Sure hope that Roy's doing well. If anyone out there has a lead on Roy, a lot of us would like to know.
@moproducer That would have been a great experience. Are you in contact with Roy or George these days? I think Roy, George, Lorne and a good bass singer (Harold Gilley) could group up and recreate that sound, to a degree. I see where George has joined the Toney Brothers but have no idea what Roy has been doing. He must continue to sing because he sounded great on the reunion vid.
Yesterday / Letras Yesterday things were different Today they're different again Jesus will never change Jesus is always the same The sparrow will find a new dwelling The eagle will change its nest But I'm holding on the changeless One And I'm leaning on His breast The river will change, change its course The mountains may crumble and fall Time will leave its mark, they say Upon us one and all Yesterday things were different Today they're different again Jesus will never change Jesus is always the same
@lonemapper Roy considered any money spent on equipment as an investment. I work in media and can tell you that no matter what you owned, if you didn't have a Hasselblad, you wouldn't get the job. When I was 20, I foolishly turned down an opportunity to tour with the Cats as a guitar player (more likely, to let George Amon sing without having to play bass)...wish I could rewind that roll. I did some jamming with Roy and George, and I guess they liked what they heard.

Roy Trimble and Danny Funderburk during their heyday were incredible.
Song is absolutely amazing!!! Jesus never changes!!!! Love the cathedral quartet.
Roy Tremble is one of the finest tenors of all time!!!
Cathedrals fans argue over Danny versus Kirk, but on this night Roy Tremble owned it!!!
The Cathedral were the absolute best Southern Gospel group ever, all through the years, regardless of who they were composed of.
Miss you george and Glenn.

soo love this song this describes 2020 and 2021
This was their best lineup in my opinion. Strong harmony!!
Beautiful!
I have always been a huge Cathedrals fan and I'd never heard this song before. Absoluely beautiful.
The ending is masterful, no matter how many times I hear it, I am inspired by their ability to blend as no one else has ever done. I sure do miss them. They connected with the audience is a very unique way, at every concert.

@@alexanderphillips3089 Couldn't agree more. Clearly one of a kind.
Beautuful song.

A piece of Heaven delivered early- Praise His wonderfull "Unchanging" name for ever!

I love to hear Roy and George Anon sing. So beautifully done
great song . I had roy tremble up to Canada a few years back. what a blessing !
What an amazing song and rendition! One of my favorites!
What a BEAUTIFUL song. and sung so BEAUTIFULLY.
The group by which all others must be judged - forever.

R.I.P Roy Tremble. Ernie Haase announced the news recently😪
amen such a true message
I thought that all of the tenors were especially good on this night.
Oh and this is one of my favorite songs by the Cats

He loves me.......from the same CD. Matter of fact, the whole CD has a special anointing on it. It's the reunion one.
I totally agree. There are other songs I like better overall by them. But this is the best ending I have ever heard from them.

Cathedrals my all time favorite!!!! George looks a bit discombobulated on this one though. Thanks for this awesome video!!!
You get that look when you know something is about to happen but you aren't sure just what it is.
Not to disparage mixed groups but theres just nothing better (to me) than a strong mens quartet.
Es uno de los mejores vídeos de música cristiana además de iban buena armonía varonil

Is it me or is Roy keeping the mic up against his chin?
Many teachers think that is the best position for the mic....
Yes. Exactly. If you would like to here it, go to my profile and search "Somebody Touched Me". I have posted it.
I know that he is very ill. Praying for him.
