One of my favorite quarters of all time!! The last time I heard them sing was at the Jefferson Civic Center in Birmingham, AL. It was the day Glenn Payne died, do not know how they sang. George said they were booked and Glenn would want them to be there. It was a hard concert. They were a class act! No one like Glen and George!
it is now 2024 and I still listen to every Concert this Group had recorded. I was at NQC the day Mr Payne passed. There's NO Doubt that gates opened for Him . George as well Love You guys
I grew up in Akron, OH and often visited The Cathedral of Tomorrow where the the Cathedral Quartet sang (and the Weatherford Quartet before them). Although I was living out of town when George died, I went back to the cemetery where he is buried to visit his newly dug grave. I pray…, no, I know, that one day I will sing with George, Glen and Roger in heaven and what a day that will be!
Depois de tanto tempo sem o George Younce e o Glen Payne, ainda consigo sentir a presença deles. George Younce foi o melhor cantor baixo que esse mundo pôde ver. Aqui no Brasil amamos os Cathedrals Quartet.
Mark Lowry's Mother wrote this song. ""He said, "I thirst," yet He made the rivers; He said, "I thirst," yet He made the sea "I thirst," said the King of the ages. In His great thirst, He brought water to me.""
You know whats sad, they had already planned the farewell tour not because of Glen's condition, but George's. George's kidneys were at around 10% at the beginning of the tour, and by the end, they were at around 2%. Despite that, he only missed 2 dates. Glen would pass away 3/4 a way through the tour, in October 1999 of cancer. George lived for another 5 and a half years, until April 2005. In that time, he continued to sing, with the Gaither Homecoming crew, and his newer short lived and last quartet, The Old Friends Quartet, with another good lead, Jake Hess, and Cathedral's tenor, Ernie Haase, along with Wesley Pritchard. George also made several appearances with Signature Sound in his later days.
Yes, of the two, everyone expected George to go first. I saw the Cathedrals in Loma Linda, CA, as one of their last dates with this lineup--Ernie, Scott, Roger, and George.
I wish I had friends like the Cathedrals.I feel like I am among loved ones just listening to Cathedral and Gaither concerts on my phone. They love the Lord so much, it just comes through.Praise the Lord!!!
I am in kidney failure. Is painful. I don't know hie he did it. Well I know God did, but amazing. I haven't given up. I'm a widow and I have to keep going. But I so thank God for the voices he gave
Yes! He sang "The Last Move For Me" a capella. He was weak in body from his kidney dialysis, and yet he sang that stronger than most any other bass singer could. He was an amazing singer and person.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL ANOINTING SINGING AND MUSIC.
Never, ever will anyone be like George Yonce, the best and most complete bass in the world - Abril 26-2024
George wasn't only the best bass, he was a class act as an entertainer and could put so much feeling into a song or a story
The most anointed music I have heard ever!😅😊
I'm sitting here in tears. With these wonderful men of God and their love for each other and for God 2024

What a great concert. The cathedrals are the greatest group in southern gospel ever.
George is now singing with the angels in Heaven
