I believe Roy Tremble was the best tenor singer I have ever heard. What a wide range he had! Great group here singing this beautiful song. The Cathedrals were probably my favorite group ever! RIP George and Glen.
He's incredible but I'd have him 3rd amongst Cathedral tenors. In order it's Danny Funderburke, Mack Taunton, Roy Tremble, Ernie Haase, Kirk Talley. And all 5 are great. Only the Kingsmen with Johnny Parrack, Ernie Phillips, Chris Collins, Jerry Martin, Harold Reed and Chris Jenkins are in the same league with the Cathedrals in terms of tenors
Blake Edmondson I think you’ve got Talley way too low. Funderburk is definitely #1. I think it’s a tossup between Tremble & Talley for #2. And then I can go either way with Taunton & Haase at the bottom. Talley may have a thinner more “feminine” voice, but he could knock it out of the park. He put them on the map after the tough years they had upon leaving The Cathedral of Tomorrow.
If I remember correctly, Roy Tremble is from Galena, Kansas. My mom and dad knew his folks (I don’t remember their names, Roy might have been a Jr.), and, for a time, might have been neighbors in Galena. I was either a baby then or is was before I was born. Lol Whewww, that was a long time ago! Mom and dad always told about one time mom found Roy jumping on her and dads bed on moms hand crocheted bedspread! Apparently dad got a hold of him and changed his attitude right quick! Lol I heard the Cathedrals once when they came to sing for our church, the First Baptist Church in Riverton, Kansas, maybe 50-55 years ago or more.
