- In this video I do a test on the satellite checkin feature of the Defy. I had it outside in a stable spot that gave a good connection status. It only worked 1 out of 3 tests I made, and couldn't get a good gps lock after 30 minutes. I show how when it does work, you can get the coordinates by texting to a Google Voice account on a pc, bypassing the other end having to be another phone. The online/cellular checkins worked reliably and fairly immediately. Altogether I give it a thumbs down for now as being fit for duty for my coworkers. At only $150, if it just worked 1 time in a bad spot it would be worth it. I am keeping mine, but reluctantly.
Jim G - I like your videos as they are absolutely practical. That's important to me. I am curious. Have you attempted to contact a Defy user from another Defy device? Does this work? Is it simply using the phone number connected to the other device and allow the app and satellites to do the rest? Thanks for your time.
I have went from phone to phone/Defy using the app, but not Defy all the way to another Defy. They definitely try and get everyone under the app. But I showed how they do include the gps coordinates in the text title so you can get by without the distant receiver needing the app just to see your location.
@@dc95811 Understood. Thanks very much.
Hmm, did your Defy have a clear view of the sky? I believe it uses its own built-in GPS receiver to get the location fix. Also, I don't think it will switch over to the satellite network until it loses all cellular and Wi-Fi connections. Maybe put your phone into airplane mode (obviously keep Bluetooth enabled) and let us know how it goes? I just bought two of these things and will be doing some testing myself here in the California San Joaquin Valley.
It did have a clear view, which is why I was bumming. I want 1 button location update operation. I don't want to look at my phone, I want the device to use my phone or the satellite idc, but do it automatically using which ever is available.
Mine won't connect with Bluetooth or that app ,I wonder if it's got something to do with bullit going out of business. Really pissing me off
only 1 successfully of 4 is really bad!!!!!!!!!!
They have some things to work on for sure.
