    Hi guys, great video.
    I´ve found a solution how you can avoid the "error: Fill: Shape is not valid. This can happen if the border crosses over itself.".
    Highlight your design/object and go to:
    - Extensions
    - Ink/Stich
    - Fill Tools
    - Break Apart Fill Objects
    This option break apart your design an repairs all the little twists in the corners.
    Then you can hit params and it works perfectly without errors.
    An alternativ is:
    - Extensions
    - Ink/Stich
    - Troubleshoot
    - Failures on Objects (or similar, sry I´m translating from german)
    This alternativ is showing you all the problems in your design, so you can fix them.
    Hope this helps some of you. Cheers.

    Love the video. It's exactly what I'm looking for. I've been watching low tech Linux too which has been helpful.
    I just wanted to ask a question about the berries. I notice the top of the is very thin. Is there a way to a a slightly thicker stick to just the top?
    Or maybe a better way to ask is, is there a way to add a thick edge to the whole image to make sure I can sew it after it's been made?

They did a great job, but will try again. I did one using the auto stitching and will see how it stitches out, but the 2nd would not work. Perhaps it is the image type I imported? Will try again with your tips.

    Nice to see a mac user doing this
    you can also adjust the fill by changing the threshold and/or growshrink by
    sating stitch/outline - you could try centre line trace in inkscape 1.0 and above - that might work as it will give just the single line you can then set to the width you want.
    to select the black you can right click on hte black object and select select same stroke. it should then select all the black which you can then move to the new layer (create the new layer first of course)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much for this comment! As to your question, it caused us to have to do some digging, as we didn't think much about our shortcuts and this will be a great video idea for us to do in the future. In order to customize your shortcuts, go to Preferences>Interface>Keyboard shortcuts. In the main field of your Inkscape keyboard shortcuts window, expand "Extensions," then scroll all the way near the bottom where you'll see "Params" and select it. Once the row is highlighted, select on the highlighted line again, but over the "shortcuts" column until you see "New Accelerator..." appear. Then simply type the shortcut that you would like to use to bring up params. You will see that command appear in the shortcut column, and you're done.

      If your machine supports it, you can add "Trim" commands to each letter (Extensions>Inkstitch>Attach Commands to selected objects). If not, another easy way, is to change the color of each letter in the embroidery file. Hope this helps!

      Hi! To export your design as a pdf you will want to go to File, Save As, Click the drop down menu with different types of file options, click “Portable Document Format (*.pdf)”. Additionally, if you’re wondering how to get a pdf of the simulator/realistic preview, you may want to just take a screenshot of it (Shift, Command, 4 on mac) and change it to a pdf in the images preview (go to file, export as pdf).

      Are you making your satin letters from scratch? Or are you using the "Lettering tool"? We cover the lettering tool here: th-cam.com/video/ebV-T_ovGh0/w-d-xo.html This tool will give you great results from the font selection.
      If you're making your letters from scratch (each rail and track), once each segment is combined, try using the "raise" and "lower" buttons (looks like a stack reorder button) within a layer to order your paths. Hope this helps!

  • @garyroot3995
    @garyroot3995 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have the next earlier version (windows 7) so am having to translate a bit. I imported a 3-color graphic in 3 layers prepared in photoshop, and then traced each layer and moved the bmps into separate, hidden layers... all good! But when it previewed the stitchout,, the first 2580 stitches were all over the place, seemingly unrelated to the image and very very spiderweb messy. And then, when it began actually to stitch the image it jumped all over, not doing things adjacent in order, even words were stitched one letter here, one letter there then back-and-forth to fill in the skipped letters... nearly as much thread in the jumps as in the stitching. Is there any rationale for such scattered stitching, or will I have to manually edit the code (or, do you have a video of exactly that issue resolved?)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This seems to always be an issue with the tracing feature no matter how you do it, we don't have a true fix for this or know why the software isn't smart enough to order stitchouts in a more deliberate way with less or smaller jump stitches. As a work around, when we encounter this issue, we use the "re-stack objects" feature to manually select the order of objects that stitch out. We did a quick video about how to use this feature here: th-cam.com/video/qfQXwfrNlks/w-d-xo.html

    Love these videos! I am trying your technique for satin stitches and keep running into this error message, any insight? rect1116-1-8: error: Satin column: Object has too few subpaths. A satin column should have at least two subpaths (the rails).

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the comment! We have seen this before and is usually a result of one of three things. Either your rails don’t completely cross over the tracks (so the program isn’t seeing at least two rails) the fix: check to make sure you have overlap. Two, the tracks and rails are similar in size (so the program doesn’t know which way you want to stitch), the fix: add another rail in the direction you want your machine to stitch. Three, we forgot to combine the lines (all of your track and rails should have the selection box around them when selecting one of the lines.
      Hope this helps!

    • @dragonlord0666

      for text I'd think you need to type out the text, select it and then go path>object to path, this should convert it to a path so then inkstitch should work on it. BUT once you do that it's not text anymore so text operations (text on path etc.) won't work anymore so do those BEFORE you convert. also keep a note of the font you used in case you need to edit or change the text at any time (personalisation etc.)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't say for sure why this is happening to you. I can only suggest you ensure you are not saving your embroidery file in any kind of subfolder within your usb device, save directly to the usb folder... Additionally, something we ran into a while ago, if you inadvertently export your embroidery file twice (with the same file name), when you export, the file will be saved as "filename.pes.1" That, ".1" at the end will cause your machine to not recognize the file. So suggest you check your file names for that as well. Hope this helps!

If it's never worked for you, try re-downloading/installing inkstitch. Cant say for sure hat is happening, but it looks as though this could be due to outdated security updates on your operating system. Issue is posted on the ink/stitch issue page here: github.com/inkstitch/inkstitch/issues/1195
      The suggestion is to install security updates.

      You would have to import it and use Trace Bitmap. Then we have a few videos that might help you with creating your project. Here is a video on How to Create a Satin Stitch + Difference between Stroke & Satin in Inkscape/Ink/Stitch: th-cam.com/video/uFk_aE03wlk/w-d-xo.html
      Here is another video you might want to check out, which is our video on the latest Ink/Stitch version: th-cam.com/video/wc9AtYD4lZk/w-d-xo.html

    Hi, hahaha me to after looking the first video it’s been a week that I working on a image very complexe that I have to do embroidery patch for a customer.
    Ok I really need some help
    Do you have a video for some complex png
    When it’s transformed in svg, I’m French and will write to in French because I don’t find my word
    Merci Sofie

    Looks like really good tips unfortunately there are too many fast forward bits. I am totally new to this so when you fast forward I have not idea what you have done. Still very informative though.

      Thank you for the feedback! We’ll try to slow it down a bit next time.

    I've gotta say, you two do well teaching this! I had dreaded the idea of having to buy expensive software, especially when this tool is available for use without needing to pay out the nose. You just need to be willing to take the time and go through it!

      Thanks for watching! To delete the stroke (the outline) you can hold down shift and press the x on the left side of the color pallet. Hope this helps!

      If you click on the “A” (text and fonts tool) in the left hand tool bar, or press the letter “t” on your keyboard, you can add text to your design. Hope this helps!

    I don't understand why you do the second path in color if you're just going to fill in the color manually on the original path with no color.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We just did that for illustration purposes (to show what you can do)... Obviously, for quicker results, we would just use the color trace, but that does come with some nuances that we cover in future tutorials (such as the color layers becoming stacked). Hope this helps explain a little of our madness.

    What is a "satin stitch"? You just talk like everybody knows what that is.
