    I'm new to Ink/Stitch and embroidery in general. I've been using PE Design which is helpful but I've found lacks the creative benefit of a program like Inkscape. Two things have me stuck when it comes to Ink/Stitch. The first is that, on the original design I was working with (which was a spiderman design just for the sake of description), when I did a fill to make the black areas (netting) black, none of it stitched out. The strokes would stitch, and I made sure that fill was selected as black as well. I even changed the color to green to make sure it filled it in on screen, but the same thing happened where it refused to fully fill the image. I ended up doing all I could in Ink/Stitch, then throwing it back into PE Design and finishing it up a bit in there. It came out a lot rougher than most of my usual designs.
    The second thing that I've been dealing with is if I do a layer over the fill layer, meant to be the outline of a design, it's doing a fill stitch as opposed to a zigzag or a satin. Both the spiderman and this new design I've tinkered with started from image files I used trace bitmap on and not ones I worked myself. Any suggestions for how to fix this? I feel like there's a glaringly obvious answer but as I'm a PE Design user and only have done ink stitch twice, it's not coming to me. Thanks for your help (and anybody who reads this!)

    In looove with how practical these are!
    I'm currently trying to make old arcade logos into a pes file and i still can't understand how to NOT do them all by myself!

      Thanks for watching! We find using trace bitmap can be cumbersome as well. We’ve found using break apart fill objects a helpful tool, but sometimes it’s honestly just easier to manually trace images (depending on the complexity).

    Cool tutorial, just what I needed to get me up to speed. You may want to take a look at the objects pop up to be able to see which part number is giving you errors for stitching. (saves simplifying things that don't need it)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! We've found the Simulator/Visualize function surprisingly accurate when we limit our designs to 3 layers, anything over that and our machine begins to tear threads, and the outcome isn't as nice as the visualizer shows.

      @@ProjectAnonymous_Duo interesting! Thanks for the reply :) I also had one more question.. I had to "break apart" some objects that were letters and the letter 'O' on my design is filled with the primary color. How do I get the fill on the 'O' to go back to transparent? Thanks again :)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you select the "outside" of the "O" and the "inside" of the "O" at the same time, then go to Path>Exclusion, it will get rid of that fill. The same thing works with other letters with "holes" in them. Hope this helps!

    These videos are so helpful! I have a question about exclusions/levels... Is there a trick to knowing when to exclude and when to layer on top? For example, the white background circle covered the whole area, with the woman stitched on top it, and then the red letters stitched on top of that, so you now have 3 layers on top of one another... Intuitively it kind of makes sense that you would do it that way, but I'm trying to work with more complicated images with lots of different parts, and am struggling to know when to exclude, and when to just layer on top. Hope my question makes sense?

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there, your question makes perfect sense, yes we limit our stacked embroidery to 3 layers max, otherwise we see some issues with our machine. This took some trial and error, but we have found 3 to be our max… When we do more complicated designs we do have to think about this and will use exclusions to keep to 3 layers. Hope this helps.

  • @dragonlord0666
    @dragonlord0666 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    with the sharpie I believe if you iron it it fixes the colour so it does not wash out as easy
    I think there is an easier way to 'flatten' the image. after you break it apart, everything should be selected so you should be able to just go path>exclusion.
    if you want to select just the black parts, right click on a black object and select select same>fill colour (or stroke colour) and it will select everything that has that fill (or stroke) colour

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the tips. We’ve found (at least with this design) that going straight to an exclusion from a break apart just reverts the image to a single path (vs independent nose and mouth). Which doesn’t solve our params issue. In a simpler design, with just holes in a path (no independent unconnected paths), your suggestion does work well. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

  • @Leonarco333

    What I do for badges is stop the machine before the satin border and then appliqué the patch onto some tear out stabilizer. It adds a little bit of stiffness and punches out clean without having to worry about cutting threads trying to get to close and there’s no fabric pieces coming through your border.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tough to say, we have not needed any features that Inkstitch doesn’t provide, or we haven’t found a workaround for, but it is a time investment to learn. Where from our understanding, paid software may be easier to use initially (or maybe more intuitive). Having not purchased any embroidery software ourselves, we can’t give you a recommendation, but if we were going to buy software, we’d probably get the brother PE Design, just because we have the brother machine and we’d want to get everything out of it as possible.

    Thank you for taking the time to record this video. It is very good to understand how objects need to be prepared to be embroidered with Ink/Stitch. I just wanted to point you to an Ink/Stitch feature which could help you to speed up your process quiet a bit. After tracing your image, just run a function found under Extensions > Ink/Stitch > Fill Tools > Break apart fill objects... Read the Ink/Stitch documentation for more info: inkstitch.org/docs/fill-tools/ This feature will improve just a little in the upcoming version (which will be out there soon). In the current version you have to make sure to set the fill rule to "evenodd" in the fill and stroke dialog.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo

      Unfortunately not, with images such as this, with detailed objects, it would involve adjusting every piece, and creating the "railroad track," to get good results.

      Hello! We’ve come across issues like this where we will check every individual path but it still won’t work... in our case it always turns out that there is some remnant of an edge caused by the trace bitmap. What we’ve recently began doing is selecting all our desired embroidery paths and move them off the work space somewhere, then highlight the entire workspace (which should be empty), if anything shows up in there, we delete it, then move our design back. Worth a shot at least. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

    Hi i am having issues with doing any design really on inkstitch. I can use any of the lettering fonts that are pre-programmed into inkstitch with no problem and my embroidery turns out great, however, when I try to create my own design, a ton of bobbin thread shows through the design, especially on fill stitches. I've tried adjusting the bobbin tension and rethreading the upper thread with no luck and I've followed many of your videos to a T and am still seeing poor results. any tips? (also i have a Brother PE770)

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that, and your problem does sound perplexing as you are getting good results some of the time... How old is your machine? Has it been serviced? (Your instruction manual should show how). Have you tried adjusting (lowering) your upper thread tension? I would try embroidering a small test circle with a stroke (satin stitch border) and see if the issue is appearing on only the fill stitch... This will confirm if your issue is just with fill stitches. From that you could try adjusting (lowering) upper thread tension, or increasing bobbin thread tension, until you see a good result on the fill stitch. Hope this helps!

    • @sabrinashaw2613
      @sabrinashaw2613 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure how old the machine is or how long ago it was serviced as I bought it used and have only had it a few weeks. I can get it to stitch everything perfectly except for fill stitches that I upload from inkstitch. I have rethreaded the upper string many times but should I try decreasing the tension for the upper thread on the machine? It’s at 0 right now.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think a combination of cleaning out your machine (your manual can be downloaded here: support.brother.com/g/b/manualtop.aspx?c=as_ot&lang=en&prod=hf_pe770eas) pg 70), tightening your bobbin tension and/or loosening your upper thread tension will solve your problem. The issue really isn't inkstitch, as that just controls where the stitches happen, not the parameters of tension, I'd imagine you'd see similar results with any embroidery software utilizing a fill stitch.

  • @mibeluna1
    @mibeluna1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m kinda late to the game and you probably already figured it out… but if you go to the fill and stroke menu and hit the little heart shape with the white part in the middle, before breaking apart, you will save yourself a lot of time. What it will do is just breaking apart your filled areas and the rest are just holes.

    • @ProjectAnonymous_Duo
      @ProjectAnonymous_Duo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can try increasing the density of stitches in your design in params, or slightly change the angle of stitch... This happens to us occasionally where on a large object, it will start embroidering from the top half to the middle, then start on the lower half to the middle, and sometimes not met perfectly in the middle... We usually will just slightly modify the params, and it has helped us.

      I can't say for sure what is going wrong for you. I'd suggest posting the issue on the Ink/stitch Github site: github.com/inkstitch/inkstitch/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Abug Hope the community can help you!
