Crappie fishing the shallows on the north end of a lake during cold snaps is the best piece of advice I've ever heard on TH-cam and I know it's true. Keep up the great videos Richard. 👍
Lol same here I was laying here drinking coffee and watching a Christmas movie with the wife. As soon as this video ends I’m headed to the beaver pool in the creek with my light action rod and see what I can get to bite 😂
People always are surprised I will go fishing solo. I tell them there’s no better way to relax than a fishing vacation solo. Great information as usual 🎣
Thanks for the video with you fishing from the bank, Richard. Not all of us have boats and I know there are plenty of fish closer to shore. As my dad use to say, “All the boat fishermen come close to shore and those on the bank want to go out to deeper water.”
If enough people watch this video u can make millions but man if help me I've been watching u for 3 years and u had always help me God bless🙏 you have a blessed one

This place is fantastic, it has big fish, I love your fishing, Congratulations you are a very successful fisherman. Hugs and happy fishing!🔝👍🎣👏👏🥰
I’ve been fishing all my life and I’ve always caught fish. But I must admit watching your videos has broadened my perspectives on a fundamental level, and I find sentiments you’ve expressed come to me at very opportune times. Here in Michigan I’ve just recently stowed my gear for the year but I have to share my whole post autumn season has been absolutely epic. Must’ve caught well over a hundred crappie over three weeks averaging 12”. Even put three pike approaching 3’.
Sounds like you where fishing in my area of Michigan Crappie upwards of 14". What a blast when you see that bobber start to sink and you're reeling in a big ol' slab!!
Yo’ @@thefishingpol ....about 20 of them pushing 14”. Just couldn’t break the 14.5” mark. Lost one crappie right at boat side that probably hovered around 16”. The pike I caught this past season were all caught on ultra light crappie gear as well, four of them ranging between 34” to 37”. Had a couple of epic walleye evenings as well. The late fall surprise extended season just kept getting better and better. ...About an hour west northwest of the D.
Thank you Richard for taking us with you. Another great video. Hope you and your family had a good Thanksgiving. God has blessed you with a tremendous talent and blessed us with you being able to take us along and give us tips and tricks that you've learned. God bless you and your family my friend and I hope you have a blessed day.
Ever catch any Bass fishing this way? I fish a slow moving river I am thinking about using this technique with a little heavier gear for bass. Hard to cast just a jig, lots of wood and sticks. I could drift a jig right next to the wood and probably get bass come out of the wood for a look/see.
I’ve used that technique and it’s a great way of doing it. I prefer using slip bobbers because I can reel up closer to the jig and cast further without the line twisting up
Yes this!!! And fish as deep as u want. U can fish on the bottom of a 50 foot lake with a cork and casting if u needed to. It's the best option because crappie often sit 10 through 20 foot deep around here in Louisiana. I'm sure they would be close to the same anywhere else right?
Hi Richard it's been awhile since I've commented I watch a lot your shows and they're excellent but you're absolutely right about color I've got favorite colors and I fish them but just because it's my favorite color don't mean it's the fishes favorite color that particular day you're absolutely right about that Richard hats off to you buddy for making that statement good luck you keep fishing keep producing them and we'll keep watching them
Thank you Richard for your awesome videos, I have learned a ton from watching, I’m a bank fishing and I just wanted to let you know that I caught my personal best largemouth bass yesterday 7.2! The whole area could hear holler “WOOOO!!!!” I tell everyone I know that likes to go fishing about your TH-cam channel, you as blessing for sharing your knowledge and I thank you again an God bless you and your family.
i'm primarily a bank and dock guy so this was a really terrific primer on how to do a very basic presentation. finding depth where they are is the key of course and color of the day.
So grateful Richard! As you may have read from my other comments, I love spinners and Crickhoppers for bass, crappie, and bluegill from the bank, but really want to learn how to use jigs and become a more well rounded angler. This video was perfect timing as from my research, using a cork with a jig is a great way to learn for beginners. Thank you and God Bless! Oh and 14:53 LMAO he always gets me when I least expect it. 🤣😂
Mr. Gene, where did you learn your patience? You videos are exciting and you're very relaxed. I get so damn excited and lose my patience even when catching. Thats why I always go alone! 🤣
A very experienced and finesse fisherman, you are, RG! Taking advantage of a surface breeze that functions like a water current with your lure does not go without notice. A minnow or bug would do the same thing, naturally.
Richard I've had some great luck with the white and chartreuse crappie magnet. Which is very similar to what you have there. That bait is killing it right now and that's a fact. Much love hope to see you again on the lake buddy
Richard, I love your videos. I am severely handicapped and one of the few things I can still do for fun is fishing. Local city lake has a a couple of fishing platforms that I can get on. Lake has bass, crappie, small bass. I have a blast! I have learned so much watching your videos. Thank you for all you do! All I can say is Wooo!!!!!
Been a hard core bass guy my whole life you really helping me get into crappie fishing. Gets me jacked up lol. Got 21 the other night after watching yoir video
Richard try flies. Weighted #8 hooked streamers or hairs ear nymph. Work well with micro rigs like that. I use fly rods but the cork you're using will work as the weight.
Great video and thank you for your tips and tricks you share with us. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and without a doubt I know you are blessed for sure, just as we all are. God is great and I know he's definitely blessed me beyond measure. Hope you and your family have a blessed day buddy, love watching your videos. 🎣🎣
Awesome video brother God bless you and yours thank you so much richard for explaining everything you help so much your a awesome person man best thing on TH-cam
I’m no crappy fisherman. I usually fish for big game. But I put some of Richards tactics together and went out the other night when it was cold to see if it really works on some Croppie in the river. I posted a video.
That method is good i use the big quart with the weight on it and a gray and black sexxe shadd on 4lb send it flying then Pop the float towards you and boom affective of crappie bass bluegills I get limits from shore I usually cast it at 3 to 5 feet
Hi Richard! My grandpa calls that technique SNITCHN'! LOL Anyway, you do provide some great detail in what you are using, water temp, etc. I have noticed though in bank fishing videos you don't often tell us how deep the water is and what kind of bottom there is. I would very much appreciate it if you could add those details when bank fishing. Like if its a shallow bay with pea gravel, mud, rocks, etc. Thanks Richard! Tight Lines!
6 lb. Fireline has a 2 lb. mono diameter. I'm leery of 2 lb. test Mono. I know I'll get hit by something to big for it. Like a Saugeye or a decent White Bass or a Hybrid Striper. I generally slip cork with minnows. God Bless, C.
Hey Richard. Love your show and watch you all the time. When using a jig with a cork during Nov and December with calm water should I just reel in slow and pop it every now and then? I know with waves I don't have to as much. Thnx Greg Atlanta Ga
I'm not too familiar with using that type of bobber. I usually use the clip on style. I was wondering how you were able to lock the bobber in at a certain spot?
Crappie fishing the shallows on the north end of a lake during cold snaps is the best piece of advice I've ever heard on TH-cam and I know it's true. Keep up the great videos Richard. 👍
This guy giving you his phone number is a scammer.
I swear, every time! I can be laying in the bed, scrolling youtube, find one of your videos, and absolutely HAVE to go fishing in the morning 🤣

Great video for Crappie Fishing 🎣
If you are a bank fisherman and have trouble catching fish, this is a must watch video. This technique works all year long.
Yep, some beautiful crappie Richard!! LIVE FOR THE THUMP MY FRIEND!!
Sure needed this video, spent Thanksgiving with my wife in the Hospital. Thank goodness she’s better & home now. So I can watch a video to catch up.
Hope all is well with your wife!
Im glad to hear your wife is on the mend god bless both of you.
@@jamesaddison4304 Gave me a scare, But I’m praying she will be ok now.
Great video. When the water is moving the way it is in this video, we call that a "crappie ripple!" Ain't nothing like it.

most of my best fishing memories are in Michigan as a kid over 40 years ago. Paradise Lake just south of Mackinaw.

Richard Gene, you're a fisherman second to none. 👍👍
WOOO!
My dad would take us fishing in the st John's river in DeLand, fl. And catch those..it would be cold as heck..some of my best memories
Thanks for letting us go with you. It was a good day. It was goooood fer me.
God bless you and your misses Richard, Tanks for being you, and yes, I went fish 🐟🐠🐟
Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee what a video 📹 👏 Great job as always Richard
Thank you for sharing with us today. God bless you and your whole family...🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😀
Love your videos Richard. I've been fishing with a float and jig off docks and shores all my life. Nothing is as much fun as that.
Thank you Richard for taking us with you. Another great video.

😀🤩 Thank You Richard for the great video and the super tips on catching crappie, I for sure will give it a try! God bless you always!

Hey Mr. Gene. I would love to see you show us some yellow perch techniques.
I’m trying bank fishing for crappie next week in TN! Thanks for the share!
Happy thanksgiving sir! Glad to see a new video up on fall crappie. Your still the machine and we all love ya brother
Richard I've had some great luck with the white and chartreuse crappie magnet. Which is very similar to what you have there. That bait is killing it right now and that's a fact. Much love hope to see you again on the lake buddy
I would love to see Hook City and yourself on a fishing trip together I think that would be awesome!
Thanks for sharing your videos and keep them coming please.
Can you make a video showing how you get the cork to stay in place. I don’t like using the slip bobber technique.
Thank you very much.
Slaying them..
You’re a hoot!!! Love your videos . I wanna go catch a bunch.🎉
Thank you for the blessing
Thanks Richard for the show. WOOOOO..
I just love your show!! Learning so much!!
Gene is one of those guys that could catch a limit of crappie in a mud hole in the middle of a four lane hiway.
Richard, I love your videos. I am severely handicapped and one of the few things I can still do for fun is fishing. Local city lake has a a couple of fishing platforms that I can get on. I use this technique alot on our little community lake that no boats are allowed on. God bless.
Thanks for these videos !
Yet another great video

Thanks for your videos! I’m learning a ton and I don’t have anybody, but you, to learn from. I appreciate you.
Happy Thanksgiving ! Great video Richard Gene. Really enjoyed.
Do you ever use 10-12-14’ long poles. Would you do a video using them and how to use them
Automatic like when Mr. Richard post.
Richard try flies. Weighted #8 hooked streamers or hairs ear nymph. Work well with micro rigs like that. I use fly rods but the cork you're using will work as the weight.
I use hair jigs on this rig my friend ties, tiny flies on light line can really be effective
Enjoy your videos!
Love this guy. Remind me of my Grandpa’s and how they taught me.
Great one Richard, Kentucky Hillbilly
I love watching your show Richard the fishing machine I'm out of Toledo Ohio
Go Buckeyes!!!!
I was watching one of your fishing shows when you was fishing at night under a bridge using a gold hair jig I order me some of those
I just ordered my livescope system.wooooooo wooooooo
Great video and thank you for your tips and tricks you share with us. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and without a doubt I know you are blessed for sure, just as we all are. God is great and I know he's definitely blessed me beyond measure. Hope you and your family have a blessed day buddy, love watching your videos. 🎣🎣
Awesome video brother God bless you and yours thank you so much richard for explaining everything you help so much your a awesome person man best thing on TH-cam
Love you Richard and I hope you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a happy New Year
Richard, i live in North Alabama too. Hope i see you on the Tennessee River some day
I’m no crappy fisherman. I usually fish for big game. But I put some of Richards tactics together and went out the other night when it was cold to see if it really works on some Croppie in the river. I posted a video.

Crappie master! Ty sir
It would be a dream come true to be your guest on a fishing expedition some day. Go with God!
Love the video.
Been following you for awhile. Where are the catfishing videos??
To be continued soon!!!
Destroyed crappie today just used Minnas instead of the jig
Mr. Richard god bless you and you're family Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Keep wetting them Hooks Mr. Richard
Richard,
Can I use a plastic worm lime this for bass ? And if so, how can I use or hook a worm?
where the wind pushes up against the bank often shad are pushed too and crappie are just off of them.
You’re the best
6 lb. Fireline has a 2 lb. mono diameter. I'm leery of 2 lb. test Mono. I know I'll get hit by something to big for it. Like a Saugeye or a decent White Bass or a Hybrid Striper. I generally slip cork with minnows. God Bless, C.
Thank you sir for the great video. You mentioned using a diawa reel. Which diawa do you use? Thanks again
God Bless ya Brother!
✌️❤️Richard Gene the fishing machine💪😁
not fond of the hat, but I do learn something every time I watch you!
What do you think about braided lines for crappie.
Enjoy your show. Wish you would tell us the lures in the description.
This lure was a Bobby Garland baby shad, very very popular crappie bait.
@@greeneyesfromohio4103 Thank You!
Love your show but gene cork Fisher live to see the cork
Hey Richard. Love your show and watch you all the time. When using a jig with a cork during Nov and December with calm water should I just reel in slow and pop it every now and then? I know with waves I don't have to as much. Thnx Greg Atlanta Ga
A slow reel for about a foot then stop and let it settle…then repeat.
Richard you should do a Sasquach and just tear up the whole bank!
What flannel is that? I need to try this. Never heard of the north end part
Is a light rod fast action 7ft. Rod good to use for fishing from the bank
Yes 6_7 foot light /med light is great. 5"6 is also a good option for casting.
God bless you nice video
How do you see that lil bitty cork???
I like to use weighted bobbers
I'm not too familiar with using that type of bobber. I usually use the clip on style. I was wondering how you were able to lock the bobber in at a certain spot?
The line runs through the center of the cork and is held in place with a peg
Do you tie the line only or can you use a swivel
I'm new to the area. Where can I go off the banks in the Owens Cross Roads area?
