I was literally getting ready to post this same thing! Best fishing channel on youtube because it's just a dude that likes fishing and fishes like all of us do. No shilling of sponsors, no drama over tournaments, not making it a "job"
Not trying to take away from Richard Gene at all because I absolutely love him for the same reason -but more an FYI to you fishin' folks, just like me, who just want to learn and see the joy found in fishing... I think many of you who come to Gene's channel would really enjoy my channel as well if you all ever want to give it a little try/watch. I think many of you would really enjoy it and I really believe the great Richard Gene would approve. RGFM is absolutely one of the best. Always positive, encouraging, with a lifetime of knowledge to back it up. 🤝🎣
Another great video, Due to the wife's health I haven't got to go much lately, Taking care of her, But by the grace of the good lord. She's getting better.
I enjoy watching you catch fish. It just shows all of us, it don't take a $50,000 to $100,000 boat to catch fish day after day. Us common folks has just as much chance to be successful every day we go fishing. Please keep your videos coming. We appreciate what your doing.
Mr. Richard I went and bought some Solar Shields shades from Wally World. My 4 year old son saw me with them on and called me Grandpa… I said no son I’m Richard Jean The Fishing Machine! WoO! He loves your videos definitely the out-tro! 🎶 AND REMEMBER!
Richard &Lisa, Cornbread here again from Louisiana. May GOD continue blessing us and keep spreading his word. Love the video’s still after all these years.
Fried crappie and hush puppies. Also, fried crappie and french fries. But doggone it! _Fried crappie, french fries, AND hush puppies! WOOO000_ Sorry, I have adrilogen problems, too. They have a shot for it but I'm allergic. Richard, you know I always go with you. My best to Mama Sue and Happy New Year to everyone. Keep an eye on that line.
My two handicaps regarding this fishing method: 1. Water temps here in Nebraska are already closer to 35 vs 50. 2. My lake really doesn't have any bluffs; and, most of our docks are in pretty shallow water, so very few deeper-water opportunities with vertical structure. Oh well... adapt and overcome. We'll probably be ice fishing for crappie in the next week or so. WOOOO! BRRRR!
Always enjoy your channel. I learned more about Crappie fishing from you than anyone else. Just like to say thanks again. Enjoy it Jim from Southern Illinois. Lord bless.
Thank you Richard great info and video,I bought me some of those Brash Pile Jigs. I hope to give it a try soon. We all love you and Mona Sue too God's blessings always! 😇
Much love and best wishes to you and Mama Sue for 2025. We love your videos. They are packed full of knowledge, wisdom, laughter and joy! We are blessed beyond measure by you Richard. ❤😆🎣 Keep sharing The Good News and shining like the Son.
Thanks for the great tip on the loop knot. I was not aware of that.May God richly bless you and your family and make twenty twenty five, your best year ever
Well here is a nother year. Wishing you and your's a great new year. I was thinking back years ago I used to fish with slab spoons. They worked very well for Bass and crappies. And if you put a piece of cut bait or nightcrawler you never knew what you'd catch. I was getting some tires for my boat and they have changed the wheel weights from lead to steel so I got some to make some spoons And cut the lead out. We Are going to regret using lead for fishing in the future I'm afraid. Thanks for all your help with fishing and life . Good health and happiness to you and your's. Dave Hughes Rolla Missouri
Well, thank you very Very much, Richard Gene the teaching machine,,, a thousand thanks for teaching us all about fishing. I've learned a lot from you .🤘
Richard, I hope y'all had a blessed Merry Christmas. Thank you for all you've done for us and all the knowledge that you've shared with us. God bless y'all in the upcoming year and hope y'all have a safe Happy New Year.
Croppie? Here in North Carolina we call them crappie. Best freshwater fish ever on the dinner table. And, yes sir, you truly are a fishing machine. You know it better than about anybody.
Hi Mr. Richard. Thank you for another great teaching segment. I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year 2025! God bless.
Depends on conditions, if im fishin pylons in heavy wind Ill use a 1/4 ounce jighead with a 2.5" Slab Magnet. The heavier Jighead gives you more lateral control decreasing the distance in which your jig will drift especially in deep water. Also with a low flying cast and the heavier weight you can still get long casts without your horizontal accuracy deviating much due to wind conditions. Wind will also push bigger schools of shad in so they won't mind the bigger profile ive caught plenty of dinks on 2.5" Slab Magnets ive even caught some 5-6 inchers on em before on em. 20-30 mph crosswinds anything less than 1/4 ounce wont cut it your jig will drift too much with the current to keep you close to the pylons which is crucial for getting the Crappie to bite, yeah lighter weight does matter in calmer conditions but when it comes to rougher conditions it dont matter, Crappie will still bite when theres 2-3 feet swells thats a common misconception in Crappie fishing they aint gonna bite a tiny plastic on a 1/4 ounce it just looks too unnatural thats where the slab magnet comes in it fits a 1/4 ounce jighead perfectly.
I've had good success with big crappie and bass both on the Joker, but I caught my PB on a 110 Berkley J-Walker. Thanks for the tip. Sometimes, on the Jokers, I will tear off a tail or two.
@itllkeal no problem man I hope it makes a difference for you, my favorites are the Percy color and Black/Chartreuse. I've also had luck with the Strike King Slabalicious paddletails on a 1/4 ounce White Bass and Hybrids love em.
My sons s as nd I just got through eating a few crappie fillets.. 👊🏻💥💥THANK YOU RICHARD FOR ALL THE INCREDIBLE VIDEOS WE GRT TO ENJOY! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ❤️❤️❤️❤️MAY GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Love the discussion and the easy going action! What body of water is this? I'm in Duluth, MN so it doesn't look quite like this during winter :) Wishing you a Happy and Blessed New Year!
