I hear you in my head when I’m fishing now. I can consistently find and catch crappie thanks to what I’ve learned from your videos. You’re like a father teaching a lot of children how to fish. Thanks so much!
Hey Richard it’s that Toledo Ohio boy you met last year. This video posted the day we got down for our annual fishin trip. Went down to Walmart and got me a 10ft mr crappie jiggin pole and had me the best day of crappie fishin I’ve ever had. I’m super novice at crappie fishin and even after watchin your videos it’s still hard. Yesterday was the first day I can say I successfully crappie fished so thank you for the content.
This is the best fishing channel on TH-cam and is "second to none" when it comes to learning, relaxation, and enjoyment. Richard Gene is a super fisherman no doubt. God Bless Him Wooooooo 👍 🎣 🇺🇸 ✝️
Those slap tail jigs (fish staker)are made right here where i live. They are the best baits to use here on lake greenwood( south carolina).I remember the gentlemen making them in a little country store in the forks of the road on your way to lake greenwood. The slab tail is what made this bait company what it is today.
Great crappie fishing tips. Thanks for the tip to raise straight up with the rod so they get hooked in the upper part of their mouth. Your videos are second to none!
.....yeh.....story of my life....me too Richard....me too....🤫☺(8:36) @ 23:48…how much more do y’all need as proof that RGFM is one of the greatest Superhero/Angler that ever lived!💪🏻✊🏾😎

This Place is Fantastic, Congratulations you caught big fish.👍🎣🥰 Your fishing tackle is amazing! Hugs from the fisherwoman from Brazil!
RHTFM, I love to hunt from the bank, it's coming on here in PGH. I use an 8' crappie stick ( which is better in the kayak. The 9' Wally Marshall 9' is less expensive and better from the bank. Thanks and God bless.
Richard I just got some slab tail jigs in the 1.5 inch size and they are awesome. No bait store around me has them and today I was out using the black with blue flake and just killed them. Everyone was watching and wondering what I was using. They really replicate those little leaches you can find turning over along shorelines.
Love it! You are the best as always. Love that old reel. Quiet. The only problem I've found on those rocks is that from time to time I'll catch my line and rub a weak spot that later snaps on me.
Thanks, Richard, for another nice video. Thank you for all the tips and knowledge you pass on to viewers. I've used a long pole and my fly rod a lot of times when hunting for Crappie. I've always been a little leary of #8 hooks, maybe I'll have to try them again. I'll try opening them up a little like you did and try that. Thanks for the incentive to try it. God bless ya'll Richard. I hope ya'll have a blessed day and keep up the great work.
I’m new to warm water fishing. Been in Colorado and Washington State going for trout and salmon. But now in NC. This channel has been a great find! Do you think I could use a 9 ft. 4 weight flyrod to jig for crappie like you did in this video?
I read once that black crappie and white crappie both do most of the same crappie things it's just white crappie do it a little deeper down. I don't know if that's true or not. Was that Weiss? Thanks again, Richard. I go fishing with you every chance I get.
I think I have seen almost every video you’ve made. Can’t wait to go gar fishing when it gets hot. How far are you dekalb lake in Sylvania? We’re going camping there this weekend and you should come out and fish with us. My buddy said you’ve made a video there but I haven’t been able to find it.
So can I run straight high viz., 6 pound or 8 pound to my jigs or should I run a clear letter to the jig? Newer to Croppie fishing Thanks so much for all the help your videos are inspiring!
It's up to you, a clear leader is fine, but straight hi-vis to the bait is great, crappie are not effected by line color and don't mind. No need in wasting effort.
I like that reel, goin to have to look around to find some for my 10 and 14 footers.Right now I have some cheap chinese 1/2 fly reels on them, but they work decent.I'd rather have a few of those old 80's.
Hey man, I love your videos. Learning a lot. I was wondering, since I know u modify your jigs, if you've ever thot about rigging up a weighted float slightly lighter than the jig so the jig would cast out ahead of it and the float would be completely sliding so you could hit the bottom and fish the whole depth of the water column? I modified a 2"cigar shaped float and super glued an 1/8 ounce worm weight to the bottom of it so my line passes thru but the jig is 1/4 ounce and should track ahead and sink to the bottom. Then I can reel in and play with all depths from a shore.
In this video the transcript says a (sams) pole. In another video you used a sowbelly 9’3” rod. I cannot find anywhere. I love your videos, would like sources for those super light rods. Thank you
Been playing with 1/64 jig heads for the year . If you have all day to reach target depth then your good. My fishing hole is a rocky rig eater. It ate 3 x 1/64 jig head, a bobber and a drop shot rig first cast today. 🤬
I saw a 12’ jig rod at Walmart the other day and it caught my eye. Wondered what type of reel I’d match it up with. Your vid has me thinking I’m gonna double back and grab that thing and try this out. Thanks Richard!
I never liked the 500 series reels. O go with a 100/1000 size. But I'm older Smaller reels have more wraps around the spool. Just my opinion. Good luck.
Richard Gene for President
I second that notion
We’d have world peace within a year
I second that too
I third that
He knows what the cou try needs!! More slabs in the freezer
I hear you in my head when I’m fishing now. I can consistently find and catch crappie thanks to what I’ve learned from your videos. You’re like a father teaching a lot of children how to fish. Thanks so much!

I second that 😊 who knows there might even be a class in schools where kids could have a chance to learn how to fish instead of hating each other
Another great video. Do you ever have problems wit your loop knots slipping through the jig eyelet when setting the hook?
Man Richard that War reference is right, On a Gin clear day I have seen some battles from my Kayak!

What soft plastic are you using ?
Are you talking bill sims from the newhalen lodge in alaska? If so i'm going on a service call with him tomorrow lol
That reel looks like a salesman demo. That’s special.
Great video, did you film this in March?
What time of day do you go fishing the rocks
Richard Gene the fishing Machine busted out the 360 scope on us
Be careful on those rocks Richard. A broken ankle and then surgery’s no joke! Prayers for you and your family
Woo!
You’re the best
On 🔥🔥
Hung up? Me? Uhhhhh……😂😂
Especially when using braid 😩☺️
Are crappie s in "all" pond?
Richard what is the smallest size crappie you’ll keep?
12" 👀
Just guessing, but that likely depends on what you happen to be catching and how hungry you are at the time.
Can u share the area you in
What type of reel?
I’m sure you’ve been told but another you tuber, LOJO, is gonna be down in your neck of the woods and wants to meet up with you.
Woo
Do you need long cigarettes for bait with that long pole ?
Appreciate that reel you got there.
How many feet?
Careful, there are many snags in those rocks.
Nice video, chock full of fishing tips & techniques!
God bless ALL of us!
