  • Since no one had the straight game footage of Bentus's self destruction without some gay ass song or tribute AMV I decided to record it. No need to thank me.

I like how Bentusi were so chilled out when about to explode.

They were the last of the Bentusi, the rest had "left" the galaxy, no-one knows what happened to the ones that left, it's presumed that they did in fact make to their destination of another galaxy but we have no concrete details. These Bentusi were just delaying the inevitable really, they had no true place in the galaxy anymore so they knew their fate in a way.

@@MegaRazorback the only thing is that we learned in cataclysm (up to you if it’s cannon but some of what’s in it makes sense for world building) tells us is that the bentusi have relegated themselves to keepers of knowledge. To catalog and save information in order to remember the past. Here we see the last and probably greatest of the bentusi, maybe even the first. The amount of history stored within that ship, and how the bentusi put such value on history itself, this is more than a sacrifice of one individual. But of eons of history. All because they know that this is the only way forward in order to create new stories.
It’s not only the sacrifice of themselves. But all they hold dear, and entrusting the galaxy to the future.

@@MegaRazorback Bentusi are "Unbound" like Karan, which means everyone on Bentus is attached to the ship and have lived for thousands of years due to raw exposure to the hyperspace core. They stayed in that Galaxy only because all three cores are required to awaken Sajuuk. Even if they lived, there was no way to survive after being disconnected from the core

Why would they sacrifice the last of their race for the sake of another? It makes no sense. In fact, they have much more reason to pursue Sajuk and its technology than the Hiigarans, given that their population is reduced to only one Harbor Ship.

It is quite possible that the Bentusi weren't able to grow and reproduce anymore, in such a case giving a gift to a race that would reach a goal that they knew, they could not, would make sense. The thing is, though, that we don't really know, as there is a sense of secrecy kept about the Bentusi, their knowledge and the state of their race. We can just infer what we know about them from their actions and what little they told during the story.

@@Schnittertm1Good points. But I still do not believe that a near-extinct sapient species would commit such an act.I I were in their position, given the circumstances, the only logical goal for me would be to ensure the preservation of my own species at any cost. However, having seen all the cutscenes, one cannot help but assume that Kushan,Taiidani,Bentusi and Vaygr are all descendants of the Progenitors, for they all appear to be anatomically identical. That could bolster your arguments.

Lets not forget that in Cataclysm, there were some Bentusi that did escape into another galaxy. Sooo... it's possible that this was the last of the bentusi in THIS galaxy.

@@oshie15 Indeed. On screen,we could see three Exchange class ships entering the wormhole. But Cataclysim,as much as I love it,is of disputable canonicity.

Maybe with the Eye of Aaran opened, Karan can locate the Bentusi diaspora who fled the Devourer.
