This song is the sequel to "Walking Slow." Even when we walk through this torn-up world with its heartaches, lies and ugliness, we can still find beauty in small, simple, Godly things. It's encouraging.
Jackson Browne has been my favourite musician since I was 19 and today i am 65. He has matuted like a good wine. Thank you for sharing your music with me all these. I was at your show in South Africa at Sun City. Thank you for playing "Fountain of sorrow".
Jackson Browne talks to a musician and shares his inspiration Leonard Cohen that's compassion and humility that we all must appreciate and try to manifest in our daily lives like the great saints and holy men from the past!
This is a great song. Every bit as good as his earlier hits. Same style of slide guitar he used to do with Linley. The irony is of the penny itself at the beginning. A symbolic, "wish upon a star", way where it passed from person to person throughout the song. Very powerful. A song of hope, faith and regardless of how difficult life is not to give up on your dreams. My humble interpretation.
I know I'm too late but bro you're not alone we all have our issues to face but we can always help someone else out doing the day it makes you feel good when you see someone smile and you can smile right back
Way back in 1981 i was living and working at the Century Plaza Hotel ..one night i stuck my finger out and started hitchhiking to Hollywood..a man in White BMW pulled over and picked me up..and drove me to Hollywood ..it was Jackson Browne the singer ..we chatted i told him i was from Melbourne Australia he said his Girl Friend was from Australia ..i never forget that night Jackson ..
WOW. Great experience you had in LA. I met Jackson in Adelaide in 2003 and chatted for about 20 minutes. Lovely down to earth guy and amazing singer-songwriter.
Such a great song. But I think they cut a verse for the music video. I seem to recall something like "take a walk on this old avenue" or something. hmmm. can't remember.

I think that guy missed a taxi with Jackson Browne in it. Personally, I would cry if that ever happened to me.
