Similar Situation what Jackson Browne went through with Daryl Hannah. I had went through a similar relationship with a lady, for the last twelve to thirteen years. The common thing that Jackson Browne and I are, that we are Libra sign. We Librans hurt easily, when a relationship ends in a sad breakup. I know what this song means.
This song is the sequel to "Walking Slow." Even when we walk through this torn-up world with its heartaches, lies and ugliness, we can still find beauty in small, simple, Godly things. It's encouraging.
This song has been with me through some of the worst times of life times that I’ve fallen and bruised broken left for dead by people who I’ve trusted But still I kept on fighting that good fight and I’m sooo stronger now that nothing can break me Thanks for your Most Wonderful Song Mr Browne ❤
Jackson Browne and Bonnie raitt sitting in a tree singing like two little songbirds! What a revival! I'm going to go save the planet now!!! Come on let's do this
Jackson Browne talks to a musician and shares his inspiration Leonard Cohen that's compassion and humility that we all must appreciate and try to manifest in our daily lives like the great saints and holy men from the past!
Jackson Browne has been my favourite musician since I was 19 and today i am 65. He has matuted like a good wine. Thank you for sharing your music with me all these. I was at your show in South Africa at Sun City. Thank you for playing "Fountain of sorrow".
Way back in 1981 i was living and working at the Century Plaza Hotel ..one night i stuck my finger out and started hitchhiking to Hollywood..a man in White BMW pulled over and picked me up..and drove me to Hollywood ..it was Jackson Browne the singer ..we chatted i told him i was from Melbourne Australia he said his Girl Friend was from Australia ..i never forget that night Jackson ..
WOW. Great experience you had in LA. I met Jackson in Adelaide in 2003 and chatted for about 20 minutes. Lovely down to earth guy and amazing singer-songwriter.
Is it just me or do certain songs from this album (and his follow up, Looking East from 1996) have a soft 90s alternative sound? It's too bad he never had a revival with the late Gen Xers the way other bands/singers did.
Anyone else eever, I dunno, 'emulate' themselves into a song, feeling the depth, the meaning, and the emotion WITHOUT ever having lived it, and then, later, watch it play out exactly before your very eyes, and finding yourself just melting back into that old, familiar territory of the song, just revelling in the irony? No? Just me?
yeah... but...he wouldn't have had the same impact if it was not for all those incredible musicians projecting his feelings over all these years. They deserve equal credit and rarely get recognized.
Such a great song. But I think they cut a verse for the music video. I seem to recall something like "take a walk on this old avenue" or something. hmmm. can't remember.
This is a great song. Every bit as good as his earlier hits. Same style of slide guitar he used to do with Linley. The irony is of the penny itself at the beginning. A symbolic, "wish upon a star", way where it passed from person to person throughout the song. Very powerful. A song of hope, faith and regardless of how difficult life is not to give up on your dreams. My humble interpretation.
I know I'm too late but bro you're not alone we all have our issues to face but we can always help someone else out doing the day it makes you feel good when you see someone smile and you can smile right back
Mike Rundberg In part it is. The end of the song is "Honey you really tempt me, you know the way you look so fine, I'd love to stick around, but I'm running behind." Of course the song is so much more than that though.
WOW! Jackson Browne has this huge ability to connect with emotions the arrangements of the songs he creates , he is a master in creating powerful melodies and you can hear the heart beating behind every note, writing from the heart is high Art.

One of my favorite Jackson Browne songs. Such truth. Thank you Mr. Browne.
Cut it Away is another great song about getting over lost love. From Lawyers.
Best selling album was Hold Out from 80. Always surprised me that The Pretender didn't have that distinction.
Everybody come on.. if you really want to know how to play slide watch Bonnie she's one of the best!
Jackson Browne and Bonnie raitt sitting in a tree singing like two little songbirds! What a revival! I'm going to go save the planet now!!! Come on let's do this
Sweet sweet sweet Bonnie raitt and her sweet slide guitar chops! Jackson always brought the best long for the drive!

Even his non-hits are special.

Awesome sound full blast... lyrics and chords amazing. Horrible video.
Best break up song? Every Jackson Browne song is a break up song!
RUNNING ON EMPTY is a break up song?

best breakup song ever. thank you Jackson for putting such a raw pain into song.
HE wrote this song after his breakup with DARYL HANNAH in 1992
