I remember when this clip was aired on public television in NYC at the time. It was astounding, the way they totally dismantled the Public Enemy song and rebuilt it in such a unique and powerful way. It was a landmark of the era, which is sadly so long-gone now (with music being what it is). This cover still sounds so far ahead of its time.
lets forget the brilliance of the production as orchestrated and produced by Tricky, this is to be expected, however we need to reflect on the message, how timeless it is that it remains relevant to this day, unfortunately Tricky's raw angst has dissipated with time, as it does with most artists
One of my all time favourite tracks. So strange. So radical. The way elements of metal are used thrown into a completely different surrounding. The fantastic singer, the strangeness of a woman singing these Public Enemy lyrics. One of Tricky’s best productions.
joydivisiongirl Saw them in Charlotte around '99 I believe...what a great show...bassist was amazing...the guitar was so sick on Bad Dreams...I never new it would sound so good live
Daniel Ramos Dude, I saw them in Charlotte in '99...the bassist was amazing...I've never new you could actually feel sound waves like that...I swear I could see the air molecules vibrate in front of me... Everybody lost it when Tricky Kid kicked in
Desde luego que este disco fue una revolución, ahora, en 2022..... que ha pasado con todo esto??? Donde estamos metidos??? Hacia donde va la música??? Sin rumbo desde luego....
he's not, you can see him later on the keyboards. does look like him around 1:40, and like an older cake loving tricky on the close up. I was even more impressed by him for drumming, for a little while. end of song, on keyboards, more clearly on other videos from the gig.
I miss that strange, raw, film noir quality of the 1990's; like living a decade in a rain-slicked alleyway.
Beautifully put.
Last decade when I lived. Now records are on demand digital. Then it was still real.
Damn, that kinda nailed the decade

Jesus this is one of the best covers of anything I have heard ever. They truly make it their own with this.
I'm atheist. But i do believe we just had the same experience 9 years apart . Do not underestimate the power of whiskey and weed combined.

I met Tricky in a street of Toulouse before a gig in 2004. He is a very nice man.
Revolutionary lyrics and music in harmony is powerful stuff- more people should be listening to this
martina is a beautiful, wonderful artist in her own right.
Excuse my language but this is fucking perfect. This is just fucking amazing. I love it.
Your language needs not excusing. Honest expression needs no explanation or validation. It's unequivocally fucking amazing.
hard to do justice to a PE song, tricky and martina took it to another level

la mejor version de esta canción
West 54th seemed to get the best out of acts, Beck's set here was awesome. All these tracks sound better than the studio versions.
Yes. This was appointment watching for me back in the day. Joe Jackson's performance of "Heaven and Hell" was mesmerizing.
Those were the days.

Good way of putting it... the 90s were an agreeable kind of grimey.
