    If anyone is gonna call someone out for being pathetic-it better their own sibling, nah, we are the ones who temper each other. Sis is the only one who can call him out ESPECIALLY if their mom is all "oh my sweet boy".
    Sister in law deserves a partner who gives as much as she does.

    The story with the same name is definitely trying to erase his first daughter.Also it is like the girlfriend doesn't see her bf's first daughter as legitimate because the mother and him weren't in a relationship. The child's father saying his first daughter can just get a nickname instead is wild. He is a pos.

    The newly stay at home husband is definitely doing it on purpose. I am sure he hates that he has to do those things. Many men look down on house work & child care & only see it as a woman's job. Unfortunately, I have a brother like that even though we both grew up in a single father parent household.

    Story 1: The reason the husband is so useless is the same reason his mom is defending him: he’s used to being babied!!!!

    Story 1: maybe the husband is failing badly on purpose as a way of acting out (I know, adult, but they do this). He needs lots of counseling to figure out if he’s depressed about no longer having a standard job and he’s struggling with his self image. Being that late multiple times is intentional, you don’t care enough to get up earlier. Man needs to figure his stuff out. Good luck to the wife and kids.

      Yeah, that story line in The Incredibles 2 where Bob takes all sorts of steps to try and be as good of a stay-at-home-parent as Helen is the ONLY appropriate response when a man finds himself in that situation. Yes, he stumbled, made mistakes, got sleep-deprived, and ended up needing outside help from friends, but the point is he tried. And he got a pretty good handle on it by the end of the movie. The husband is probably never going to be as good at it as the wife was, (she was a bit of an overachiever) but if he puts forth an honest effort, he can be good enough for the family to function fairly well. This guy isn't even doing the bare minimum. I honestly would rather be a single mom than have such a useless partner.

    Unless that husband can’t ever get to work on time, there’s no excuse for him not getting the kids to school on time. Maybe he misjudges how much time it takes the first time, but repeatedly? No way. He just doesn’t care. He could have learned something from watching his wife doing things around the house. He could have helped. He could go get a job. All kinds of options. Choosing doing nothing is the no sympathy choice. I’ll bet he still doesn’t value all the work his wife did, either.

    I think it's important to note that child care is a job people pay a lot of money for- people pay a lot of money to eat good food at restaurants, for house keeping, etc etc. Stay at home moms do all of these things and more. Women are FIERCE. Hug ya mama.

    On the bikini story This is the one time where I'm grateful for having sewing and clothing knowledge because I've been in that situation and the only way I've come away from it without anyone getting upset is leveraging hey you have this body shape this is more flattering and presenting options. Like I have straight up had one of my bigger friends ask me does this make me look fat and I'll be like it's not that it makes you look fat It just isn't flattering your shape cause if you see here it's causing you to have this boob sag but if you took this other top it elevates you and gives you this nice like slim thick figure and I think that's what your desiring more. And she went from completely body conscious and hating her body to admiring a feature of her body that she hadn't seen before.

    • @sharon9974
      @sharon9974 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      "Flattering" is also steeped in problematic ideals of what makes a good versus less acceptable body types (e.g. minimizes your stomach). Why not say wear what you want! You look beautiful!

    • @rosyskysky345
      @rosyskysky345 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@sharon9974because societal norms are soul crushing and if her friend came out feeling better about herself even while she used the word “flattering” then it’s fine. Don’t fix what ain’t broken. “You look beautiful” doesn’t always work. For me, I can’t trust that. It’s almost disingenuous. It’s nice when friends are real with you.

    • @perfectchemistry8291
      @perfectchemistry8291 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sharon9974 Body type is entirely separate from weight though. You can be underweight and have a banana, apple, pear, triangle or hour glass body type. The same goes for any other class of weight too. My advice for what I think looks good on a banana shape will be the same regardless of weight and it will differ from the advice I would give for a triangle and apple shape. It's entirely about shape, weight is literally irrelevant. And I don't think it is anyway biased to think symmetry is flattering- it's literally biological to find symmetry aesthetically pleasing. I have no insecurities when it comes to weight and yet I don't dress the same way as I would advice my friends of other body types to dress as it would not look flattering on me- not because of my weight but because of my shape i.e. body type. I dress in a way that enhances the shape I find flattering on everybody- essentially in a symmetrical shapely manner. There are oversized pieces of clothing that can either make you look entirely shapeless or actually flatter the shape you have. It's all about shape. It doesn't have anything to do with the size of someones stomach but rather the shoulder to waist to hip ratio.
      At the end of the day people can and should wear whatever they want regardless of their body type but if I'm asked a question I answer honestly. There's no point in asking for an opinion if you don't want an honest one. If what I want is a compliment- I'll just ask for that lol. I'll just straight up say to my friend/partner that I need a ego boost so compliment me on my outfit please and they'll do it because of course they'll compliment me if it's going to give me what I want in that moment. People just need to ask for what they actually want. If you want a compliment you don't need to fish for it- just ask. And if you ask for an opinion instead- don't complain if it's not the compliment you actually wanted.

    second story - OP and jen literally weren’t even hooking up / going to date; they just hit it off and danced together a bit, then went their separate ways after the wedding. also, when i initially heard the title i though OP ditched her before the wedding, which would have been shitty, but he did everything he was supposed to as a groomsman that got paired up with this bridesmaid. they went down the aisle together and then danced a bit at the reception. kelly and liz were getting upset over literally nothing.

However I would not require a guest to change to sit in my living room or kitchen but I did purposefully buy a leather couch so I could wipe it down when guests leaves. 44:22 As someone who ALWAYS changes my clothes as soon as I come home before I sit on anything. I would never ask people to bring a change of clothes when they come over lol. OP needs to understand everyone has a different level of cleanliness and just like they were saying, don't have people over then. Growing up for me at least I realized it was a cultural thing that me and my family did, or other people from similar backgrounds, and that some of my friends didn't change when they got home. You can't expect everyone to conform to your way of life. From one clean freak to another maybe just don't have people over or get some granny plastic so you can disinfect it after! :)

    I’m the bikini story, I think that girl was having a hard time with her new body. She gained the weight from antidepressants so clearly she was already having some struggles with her mental health. I understand that she was nagging her friend and asking what she really thinks but I think OP could have handled it better. Also, I’m not accusing but I am curious if OP had made any other kind of passive or elusive comments or even facial expressions about her body prior to this that maybe had her friend on edge. I think this was a case of a girl having a tough time mentally dealing with her newly changed body and a friend who wasn’t able to navigate that with her. I don’t think OP was an asshole but I do think they could be a better friend.

It's more that I became less close to my siblings after they got married because their immediate family is their spouses now, not me. So I really don't see any problem with the OP just deciding that she's not going to put up with her brother-in-law's disrespect anymore. OP can just tell her sister, "I don't associate with cheaters. That's the decision I am making for myself regarding your husband. What you do is entirely up to you." Maybe taking that hard stand will be the kick in the pants the sister needs to realize she deserves better. Maybe not, but OP is well within her rights to cut a toxic person out of her life.

And then she would complain to me and say that they were arguing and that she's sitting up on the roof of their condo building and is upset. And after a while I got sick of talking to her about it because she wouldn't do anything so I just stopped talking to her for real. And I know that's not what you're supposed to do but at the same time I was sick of having my own anxieties about her relationship. I would get really anxious that something bad was going to happen to her. There was one night where she text me and she said that she might need to leave and then I didn't hear back from her. And I called her and called her and didn't get any sort of answer. And I ended up messaging her sister and was like can you check on her please. And then I thought she was mad at me cuz she finally answered me back. She wasn't mad at me for messaging her sister but I sort of made myself scarce cuz I thought she was mad. Then she was upset because she thought that I had just randomly blocked her or something and I didnt. But the final straw was when I was just like he needs to get punched in the face and then she sent me a message and was like he saw what you sent me because he goes through my phone because I don't have anything to hide and he was like why does this guy want me to get punched in my face?? And I was like I don't appreciate that you're telling me not to say stuff when if he would have scrolled up a few messages and saw what you told me that he did he would understand and he knows why. And so I was like I don't know what you want me to do you complain to me I tell you what to do you don't do it so I'm sick of it. So now I really only just send her tik toks and that's what our relationship has become. I hope maybe someday she'll finally get out of her head and get out of that situation. I hope that OP's sister does the same thing as well. It's not a a fun time for either party.

    What to say to the sister who is married to the cheater.
    "Honey, I know you want to make the marriage work. But you are asking me to be friendly whos destroying one of the people I love most in the world. I will be polite, when I have to be near him, but I cannot even pretend to be friends with someone who hurts you so much and so often. I will always be there for you, but I look at him and want to destroy him for hurting you. I am not that good of an actress. I promise to be cordial but thats all I can promise."

    Clear tarps guy needs to get help ASAP before he spirals into germ a phobia. While I feel the same about changing as soon as I get home, the way I combat this is using couch covers and chair covers and only telling folks to take their shoes off which is less strange. The covers are fitted and washable because what’s the point of worrying about germs on your furniture if you aren’t washing the couch/chair soft materials from day to day use anyway. There’s still your own hair and hair products, dead skin cells, oils, and sweat to wash off that he’s not thinking about negating 50% of what he’s trying to do. It’s cleaner to just have swappable washable furniture covers to rotate just like you do your bedding.

    4. Kinda TA - timing is everything but they didn’t share the name before the baby was born? There has to be a better reason than it’s a pretty name. Especially since the 1st born had it 1st.

    She was only working part-time. Yet she got a good full-time position so quickly? I wonder if he is was a bum at work too?

      Nah. He couldn’t do the bare minimum and during OP’s edit, she said that he even told her that he shouldn’t be doing “these things” (basic household chores or taking care of his own children). There’s a difference between can’t (due to mental health / being in a bad place) and refusing to. It’s the intention and he’s showed his intentions

    The gift giving - I have often looked into buying people expensive gifts, but if it's something far out of my budget i often either find another friend who will help finance the gift (joint gift) or to the person who wanted it. Maybe offer to cover half (or more) of the cost and they cover the other half. That seems a lot better than to just say,, hey i made this fake number in my head and i went over it, so im asking for the cost difference from you. the fuck?
    then again, I have often given people $200+ gifts and frequently spend a LOT during xmas on my immediate family (around 200 per person, and then a big gift/gift idea for the household. One year was coffee, so it included a ninja coffee machine, french press, coffee, accesories, etc). I try to spend that much on bday's too. I have never thought to just buy something and then request money back. That's wild.
