To me, the EL34's sound is a lot fuller and thicker. This is better for my taste. I was getting ready to buy the Stealth until I saw your video. Now, I will get the EL34 version. Thanks again.
Hi Neil - I would like to hear the heads through speakers. Gotta say I really didn't hear an appreciable difference. I run my 5150 III with the volume @ 2 o'clock and the gain @ 10:30. The tone stack about the same as your settings. Cheers!

After playing my friends stealth 50 watt evh I decided to keep my el34. I did do the c137 mod to my evh to help with the woofy low end. Now it sounds fantastic with and without a boost.
I almost always push my Blue with the red dirt.It tightens up pretty good.I am happy.but when the warranty runs out i will add a toggle switch to the rear panel and solder the wires from one end of the resister to the pole..
Stealth seems to sound almost the same on all channels and with or without boost. EL34 version has more hearable differences which seems more versatile to me and what I would want

Guys, you're missing the point....these amps are designed mainly for "LEAD PLAYING" and not for "CHUGGING"....I'm surprised people judged them without hearing SOLO PLAYING....these amps stand out not because they're loud, but because they oozes saturation like butter....THIS IS WHAT LEAD PLAYERS SOUGHT AFTER IN A TUBE AMP.

I prefer blue channel on the 6L6 and with the red channel is the opposite haha. I have a 6505+ at rehearsal's and my JVM410h, they are different beasts but the 6505 is drier and like a knife while my JVM410h is smoother, punchier and overall wider sounding. I love them both.

I just got into the high gain amps and im not an expert and maybe i cant express myself as im not speaking my own language. They're both great amps, i've allways was more the Stealth type but lately i've been leaning more to the EL34 i don't know why, maybe it sounds more full with that growl after the mutting of the string in a palm mute The Stealth seems more tight, especialy in the palm mutes, it is more noticeable but also seems more fizzy or maybe you should increase the LOW a bit, at least in riff 1 In the boosted riff 1 the EL34 is perfect sounding, more full, there again the Stealth is more thin or something like that. Sorry if the terms i used are not the correct ones :) Recent subscriber Neil but i dig your channel, keep it up man \m/ Maybe a part 2 with some fast riffs or some lead playing would be sweet
Amp tone can depend on mood too sometimes that’s why I use all my heads depends on my mood ,it’s nice to have a few options sometimes it can inspire us to play differently Glad you Enjoy the demos thanks
How does the clean channel compare on each? Ive only owned the stealth for a minute, and i enoyed that clean, but havent had a chance to try the El34 50w clean at all
Hey Neil which of these two amps had the bigger bottom end?? I’m a Mesa guy so I’m looking for the head that is closest to the bottom end like the Mark V or Rectifier
That’s a tough one because the stealth allows you to dial in as much lows as you like and it doesnt really get too muddy,the 34 has a lot of low end on the blue and is quite dark but significantly less gain,if you are used to rectifier style low end it might be worth going for the 100 watt 34s or stealth if you can

@@mikebodnarchuk2056 the el34 has a lot less gain in blue so you’d need a boost for that channel The stealth is tighter more compressed The el34 has a much darker tone on blue but reds are pretty similar despite the attack being brighter in el34
I do more Hard Rock than Metal and the EL34 version works for me with epic cleans and epic lead. Split coil on the Neck humbucker is a must (or it gets too buttery on the higher end Gibson LP's)
@@NinecoreNeil that is something to consider. Its hard looking for gear in the midwest because the local guitar shops only sell fender clean style amps and than you have guitar center which overprices everything.

@@NinecoreNeil I am stuck currently...I had the EL34 a while back and now have the Stealth 50. I find it doesn't have as much thump and is a little colder/fizzier than I remember the El34. I can swap to the EL34 but can't remember if my memory is correct. If I want more bass is the EL34 the way to go knowing that the blue channel is more of a traditional crunch and needs boost to get to metal levels?
hey man, I need your help! Yesterday had the opportunity to compare a LBX Stealth with the 50w EL34. For my suprise the RED chanel on the 50w EL34 was more tight and bold, while the LBXS was a bit harsh and spongy. Is it the same with the 50w Stealth vs the EL34, or are the RED chansels on the this amps similar? I cant hear much difference and what really bothers me is the feeling of the amp... (eq wise i can always make them sound as I like)! cheers!

If you load 6CA7s in the EL34 5150III (then do a rebias of course) it should sound closer to the 6L6 equipped Stealth because 6CA7 tubes sound much more like 6L6s than they do EL34s.
@@prodsunss if you have the money and the back get the 100 they are fuller fatter and punchier…..however if you use something like a CaptorX with ir you will find that the difference is less than when using a mic or in the room 👍
I just bought the EVH 5150 iii el34 50w. And I'm not impressed. I've tried to like it but I just can't. My Marshall dsl40cr is by far a better amp. It sounds better and it has no unwanted noise. No need for a gate. When I buy an amp I shouldn't have to buy additional pedals just to make the amp sound good. Now how do I get rid of this amp without loosening any money?
All hi gain amps need a gate when they are turned up I wouldn’t worry about it,you probably prefer the Marshall tone to EVH some guys do …it just depends on taste

So I’m using. JB I think,however if there’s something in the tone not to your taste I would guess it’s actually the high midrange which is more a case of me choosing mic and cab to enhance this.I like that frequency but for some it’s too much 👍

You can’t go wrong with either tbh the Stealth likes the low to be pushed a bit harder than in this video

A boosted stealth blue is very close to stealth Red,if you want lots of different tones yes go El34

I thought I wanted a Evh stealth but I prefer a woofier tone for rhythm guitar.
The beauty of the stealth is that you can throw as much bass gain and resonance as you want at it and it gets fatter but not looser
