I have the “non stealth” version of the 50 watt head with the dual concentric pots for the green and blue channel. For anyone that may be hesitant to buy a 50 watt EVH thinking it’s “only” 50 watts and it may not be “loud enough”, put that out of your head. Mine is the loudest, punchiest 50 watt head I ever played. It slays some of the 100 watt amps I’ve had. I use the EVH 4X12 cab with it and I can play anywhere. I’ve played outside gigs unmic’d with no problems and still had plenty of dial left to turn up even louder.

@Falluz , after spending a couple of months with it, I can say it's definitely my favorite 5150 so far. It sounds really good through my oversized horizontal 2x12 loaded with V30's and even better through my 4x12 with a mix of V30's and G12H30's. I think it lives up to the hype for sure.

I've owned this amp for about 6 months now. It's an incredible amp that can truly do it all, any sound at any volume. It replaced my Marshall 100W 2555 Jubilee. Buy it if you can find one, it's kickass.
I'm glad they added the concentric pots because the shared volume knob rendered one of the two channels basically useless at best or killed your ears at worse by accidentally hitting the blue channel. I love EVH but that shared volume knob was just a mind boggling mistake. I'm glad they fixed it but damn.
Had both the OG 5150 and 6505+. Went to the modeling world (Helix, Fractal, Kemper) last 4 years until....This amp is what brought me back to tube amps. It just CRUSHES!!! Side note: dropping TAD 6L6GCSTD power tubes replacing stock power tubes made a huge difference. Everything Fluff mentions here is 100% on point, get one!!

Best tone in the intro clip. This one's special. Modellers are getting good, but there's something special with this one I don't think a kemper can recreate right now. Def sounds 15% better than a modeller.
Ooh, hell yeah. I really regret selling my old 5153, but, the unbalanced first and second channels were a bit annoying with no concentric pots, and no fender repairers were willing to do the mod, despite the newer ones coming out with it shortly after that hah (like a few weeks after I asked, the remakes with concentric pots came out). That and it was too big and loud to fit in my room. Plus biggest killer was no line in, cause I use guitar pro and youtube for most of my backing tracks. Still, I definitely want to get one of these. The sound of them is just so good. So nice to have such filthy gain tones, but also such crisp cleans. Big bonus from fender making them I suppose. My first proper amp, and will definitely be my next amp buy. Hot damn I love these amps

Fluff!! I know you’re a bit of a fuzz guy, would you consider doing a video running different fuzzes into different high gain heads? I’ve been thinking about getting a new head but I don’t know where to start because if you’re into the whole stoner/doom scene, there are either not enough videos talking about that, and if there are, the audio/video quality are so bad! The Stealth sounds mean as hell, I want one so bad, but again, hard to tell when it comes to my application. Great work as always! 😁🤘
I absolutely love my 100w Stealth... all channels are usable with loads of gain on tap! I love pushing the gain up on the green channel and then smack it it the face with my Zakk O.D. !
Take your time dialing in the resonance, presence, and gain, especially on the Red channel, where a little gain goes a LONG way. Do put your modulation effects in the loop and consider an EQ outfront to help tame those 7 preamp tubes. Good luck.
@@massttrshrdrharmonicminor2002 Well, good choice then! I had a JVM that had monstrous tone on the Orange channel (especially w a Keeley mod Tube Screamer in front) but the Red was SO hard to handle. And the effects loop was cranky. The EL34 EVH solves those problems but it is without an onboard reverb so you need a pedal solution out front for that.
Hi Fluff.. Just ordered one. Any chance you can explain the recording chains for these demos? Especially this one. Thanks. Btw, your productions have improved a lot just since a couple years ago. Good job.
Hey there RIFFS/BEARDS/GEAR, great demo with some awesome playing, tones! I´m about to pull the trigger on one of these. Question; is there more then enough gain on the blue/red channels for that liquid lead, ENDLESS SUSTAIN lead tone? I´ll be doing a lot of living room volume level playing so being able to get nice tone/sustain at low volumes is vital for me. Thank you so very much!
The only downside I see to this version, is lack of separate channel Resonance and Presence knobs. Only reason why I'd get the 100W. I have the Mark 1 50W, been wanting to upgrade to the stealth.

I'm 49 y/o and really no desire to lug around a truckload of gear. We don't have any gigs currently (thanks Covid), but looking forward to some in the future. I currently have an OG Tech 21 Fly Rig 5 that I use for church, and a Mooer 5050 3 micro pedal that I use for the band...along with the delay section and boost of the Fly Rig. This goes into a 1x12 Tech 21 Power Engine 60. It "works" per se, but I don't seem to be satisfied. I still want a chorus pedal...and maybe some others. If I go traditional amp...I'm looking at the EVH LBXII, PRS MT15, or the EVH 5150III 50-watt...with some kind of 2x12 cab. I will still need pedals. This seems like a chore for a gigging musician; you still need to mic the amp, batteries or power supply for pedals, connector cables, pedalboard, along with maintenance. I don't have a roadie to load and setup this gear or maintain it. I've also heard that since these amps are blazing loud, club owners don't care for them. Enter the digital domain...Helix, Headrush, POD Go combined with a set of Headrush FRFR 112 or 108s. All inclusive, way lighter, less hassle, and much simpler. You have access to amps and effects you may never use, but maybe you will for a song here or there. Plus, this would allow use for both band and church gigs. This seems like the way to go in the 21st century. The big question is...can you really tell the difference in tone these days? Which is more ispiring? My recommendation would be a Boss Katana Artist. It’s as close as possible to an everything-in-one-box solution for band practice or small gigs, and it sounds really good, if not outstanding. I also own a 5150 III 2x12 combo. It sounds amazing, but at 84 lbs, I would not want to lug it and a huge pedal board to a gig. Just one man’s opinion.
Get an amp with a good clean tone that has as much gain as you need. Make sure it has a true effects loop and put a good EQ in the loop. Now you can make it sound like any amp you want as far as tone. Boutique amps are over rated. A majority of the difference is in the preamp.
Because you went high end for this review, I’d love it if you reviewed a Tomsline Pedal to balance it out. I saw a series of reviews for them but the person does a ton of sweep picking.
That Stealth is a beaut... wondering if it has enough ass to use it live with heavy drums, if you're only getting a vocal p.a.? Obviously, the 100 watt EVH crushes rooms no prob without a p.a.
Man. I have a peavey 5150 and 5150 II. Ive been wanting to complete the trifecta with an EVH one, but I can't choose between the regular III, the EL34 or the stealth version lol
I'd go for the stealth ;) I have a 6505+ that I still really love and don't want to part with, but this one is really tempting. I had both the 6l6 mark 1 and mark 2 for years but I came back to the original because I missed that ''in your face'' sound haha BUT the stealth seems to have that growl again (to my ears anyway).
If I were you, I'd try to hunt down a used 5153 6L6 Mark 2 (with the concentric pots). I think this one's just way too steep of a price increase compared to the earlier ones. You'd save quite a bit of money. Still a BA amp though. The look is beautiful if nothing else.
Man, I really want to like the EVH amps, but there's something in the mids that just kills it for me. Too much quack or qwock. Lol. Thank goodness. Finally. A new piece of gear I'm NOT gassing for. 🤣
It HAS been quite a while since I've actually played thru one. I'm hoping no place close has one, so I don't find out I actually have to have one. Lol.
Just a week ago, I bought this exact amp with footswitch from GC used for $900 plus tax & shipping = $1,000.00: ostensibly because some dude had their used layaway cancelled & it was never re-priced: It could have been re-priced way higher to $1,200.00. Sonic, tight-bottom ended, oversaturated, too much gainy goodness at a now-bargain of a used 2019 price. I’m happier than a pig in shit.
same with me back in august 2020...got it on eBay, it was basically open box because the guy had a family emergency...$900.00...a few months before that i scored a near-mint mesa mark IV for $1450.00...was a good period for gear!!!
This sounds good even through my shitty phone speaker. Do I need spare undies tomorrow when I listen through good headphones?? This thing is a monster.
Great video, and its exactly the tone Ive been looking for. I sadly had to get rid of my Tremoverb halfstack years ago, but the 5150s and 6505s have REALLY impressed me. What was your guitar tuned to for this video?

I notice you are rocking the Buc-ee's shirt lol
Would this amp be good for eflat tuned 90s thrash and death metal compared to a JVM?
Check out the Invective too.
If I were you, I'd try to hunt down a used 5153 6L6 Mark 2 (with the concentric pots). I think this one's just way too steep of a price increase compared to the earlier ones. You'd save quite a bit of money. Still a BA amp though. The look is beautiful if nothing else.
I heard the clean channel has way less headroom and chime?
Man, I really want to like the EVH amps, but there's something in the mids that just kills it for me. Too much quack or qwock. Lol. Thank goodness. Finally. A new piece of gear I'm NOT gassing for. 🤣
Try one in person with a v30 cab.
It HAS been quite a while since I've actually played thru one. I'm hoping no place close has one, so I don't find out I actually have to have one. Lol.
I'm sure you hate to say your opinion for fear a company might not like it....but Friedman jj jr. Or evh 50 watt stealth if you could only have 1?
Just a week ago, I bought this exact amp with footswitch from GC used for $900 plus tax & shipping = $1,000.00: ostensibly because some dude had their used layaway cancelled & it was never re-priced:
It could have been re-priced way higher to $1,200.00.
Would’ve liked to hear it with a stock Les Paul, good vid regardless. Sounds just like I thought.
Should I buy the 50w or the 100w??
This sounds good even through my shitty phone speaker. Do I need spare undies tomorrow when I listen through good headphones?? This thing is a monster.
Hello Fluff is the clean channel as clean as the clean channel on the el34 head?
may I ask what tuning you are in for this video? the tone is so f'n badass!
Great video, and its exactly the tone Ive been looking for. I sadly had to get rid of my Tremoverb halfstack years ago, but the 5150s and 6505s have REALLY impressed me. What was your guitar tuned to for this video?
