I cannot agree more. The PX4 is a phenominal piece of machinery. It is everything I want in a defensive pistol. It is soft shooting, reliable, accurate, almost indestructable, easy to carry, and that all applies to the full size as well as the compact. Ernest's 50,000 round test of that one gun, by one person, in one year sold me on it and my experience with it has been excellent.

I bought a PX4 last year and never once regretted it. It's one if the softest shooting 9mm pistols I've ever fired. It's super comfortable. It's also just good looking in my opinion. Classic Italian styling with the modern touch. Fires like a laser beam and I'll proudly shoot my PX4 until the day I die.
When I was in the Army and we shot M9's, if someone had offered to trade in my M9 for the PX4 I would have done it in a heartbeat.

I used to sell new PX4's back in 2011-2014 when I worked at an indoor range on sale for around $400 and hardly anyone would buy them because it wasn't a Glock. A frequent regular customer who was a detective would come in once a week to shoot a used PX4 in 40 cal that I sold to him and he couldn't believe how soft it shot. I skipped a lot of "good guns" because of factors like lack of oem or aftermarket parts/support and accessories (holsters, compatible optics, lights, mags etc). A detective that can carry OWB or on a vest/shoulder has less issues carrying than someone like me, that has to keep it concealed.
For me the IWI Masada was the best ergonomics and a great quality/price piece, but I skipped it due to all the reasons above. Couldn't even get oem spares for it.

Having lived in California where there are only about six pistols that can be bought - legally - the PX4 was one. It was a good handgun out of the box. But a couple years later I sent it to Ernest to do his magic. When it returned, with new springs, new trigger, better mag release, better sights and more ergo everything, it was fantastic. Every friend who tried it agreed. I have been shooting the PX4 for more than 10 years. Don't know how many rounds, certainly a few thousand, and have never had a stoppage or malfunction. I have since changed mine to the "G" model exactly as Mr. Langdon described. With no gun smithing experience, I did that myself (with some help from TH-cam). Now that I've been shooting for six years, ha e a collection of pistols and I'm proficient with them, I am still so in love with it. It's my most accurate pistol. The only thing it needs is a red dot mount. And maybe some money to send it to Mr. Langdon to take care of that for me. Thanks for the validation, James!!!!

The LTT PX4 Storm Compact Carry is the greatest pistol I have ever shot. Having firsthand experience, I can vouch for pretty much every single thing mentioned in this video. It's a truly phenomenal firearm, and it's sad it isn't getting more love in the US. The two biggest things for me was the remarkably soft recoil, and the dead-on-balls accuracy. It practically turns an "OK" shooter into a great shooter.

      1. Is the price. Last I checked they wanted like 1200$ I think for it. 2. Is the fact you can't buy it in person anywhere. You have to know someone that has one to even handle it and then if you want one you have to either buy it online or send your in. A lot of people don't want to mess with online firearm buying or sending it in. If they worked with Beretta and produced a factory pistol with the same specs and dropped the price to 700$. I think it would become a lot more popular. But nowadays there's not many people that want to carry a pistol that big anymore.

I have immense respect for Langdon. Back in 2016 I was looking to replace my striker fired pistol and started reading Langdon’s posts and watching his videos about DA/SA pistols for concealed carry. His logic was iron clad. I had just moved to a state where I had to shoot a qualification for my handgun permit so I qualified with a Px4 range gun. I literally put every bullet in the X on a B-52 at 15 yards. I was sold. I bought a Px4 and carried it for 3 years. All the things Langdon says in the video are true…except for the reliability. I had to send the pistol back to Beretta twice and then it started having unexplained malfunctions. I tried everything to remedy the problem but just gave up on it. I wish I’d had a better experience with the gun because it really is a shooter.

how would you compare it to the full as a carry? To my understanding
a 10 round full will weigh less than a 15 round compact and the barrel is only 3/4" longer. the weight difference is about 3 rounds of 9mm i wanted the Compact but those wont be stocked until next year.

    • @SplashOfOrange
      @SplashOfOrange 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@Oblivionsurveyor, The PX4s are just kinda chunky. My PX4cc (Compact Carry) is smaller than my Hellcat RDP (my alternate EDC) in almost every way except width, but the PX4cc feels bigger and prints more readily. I say that to lead into that the fullsize PX4 will feel even bigger. The biggest issue with carrying the full size though is the decocker/safety wings. On the PX4cc they are trim and "stealthy" decocker only, designed for carry. On the full size they are pointy and not comfortable against your skin at all, and they are a combination decocker/safety. You absolutely can carry a full size, some people do, but most people swear -- myself included -- that the PX4cc has a better trigger and is generally more accurate than the full size. Having both, I'd personally not want to carry the full size IWB, but OWB it would be fine so long as you are either ok to open carry or have sufficient clothing to cover it. Just my humble opinion, I haven't met a PX4 I didn't like, but having access to a range of them I'd stand by that the Compact Carry (not the regular compact) is the only one I'd recommend for conceal carry, then the compact would be #2, and the full size would be #3.
To save on weight I'd recommend Liberty Ultra Lights as ammo -- they are super fast +p 9mm (2000+ fps) and only 50gr per round, which adds up to a noticeably lighter magazine when loaded up with a full 15rd.
Just my thoughts based solely on my own experience. I love the PX4cc, easily the best handgun I've ever used.

Right now, the only DA/SA handguns that I'm aware of are from Tanfoglio/EAA and SIG starting at around $1000 to $1400 respectively. If Beretta could offer that platform for under $1000, I think they would dominate that sector, and I would have to start saving up.

I tend to be a striker fired guy because I've carried one for decades but I also carry at the 3' O'clock position (always). If I was an appendix guy, without a doubt the PX 4 would be my choice. That method has just too much important real-estate to chance on a striker in my opinion.
Also, I am REALLY looking at getting another Beretta so I have been watching, well just about every Beretta video on TH-cam (92, APX, and Storm) and I started really watching the recoil impulse in various videos with different shooters. The PX-4 really does appear so slow or mitigate the recoil impulse.

The ease with which the trigger can be pulled while keeping the sights aligned is wild to me because the stock double action is heavy (I am used to the Langdon Beretta 92 trigger pull). I was getting groups with PX4 iron sights slightly smaller than groups with FN509 with a dot. Without the dot the iron sights are blurry and the target is blurry, but I just put the small blur into the large blur and voila nice tight groups, up to 7 yards. 10 yards not so much, but that is the potential for the gun.

It really was the perfect carry back then for a new shooter. I put thousands of rounds through my PX4, and I cannot for the life of me remember a single malfunction. I had it for about 10+ years, but it retired to my safe as the micro compact market exploded. I moved on to a P365 and really never looked back. I recently sold it because I hadn't fired it in a long time and didn't see a reason for it to keep taking up room in my safe. The only thing that PX4 needed was talon grips, because the texture was not enough on it's own and it would get slippery. I miss it sometimes, but I bet if I bought another it would just sit in the safe.

After my 4yrs in the Corps and carrying a 92f, my 1st gun purchase was a px4 subcompact. Super accurate and reliable. 20yrs later and 30ish pistols later it's still my most accurate go to.

I bought my px4 .45acp in 2009. It was the 2nd gun I ever bought. Everyone else was buying striker fires. I personally think it has a modern sexy look and comes with some great features. It's a durable and reliable gun after 14 years of ownership.

@@Matt-xc6spNo one wants to admit that the only reasons anyone bought the original cheetah was because they either saw it in Scarface, or just thought it looked cool. And the guys at beretta, probably drunk on pasta and meatballs, thought “You know what would be a good idea? To reintroduce a gun people bought because it was sexy, but this time make it ugly”

I believe the Taurus G2C is underrated. It is by far my cheapest pistol and has more ammo through it than anything else. It is the only pistol that has not malfunctioned.

Makes me feel good to see this video because after my 92, this is definitely the one I want to have as my “carry” gun. I appreciate the aspects of the 92 that this gun carries on, I call it a bit of familial heritage. I’m just glad that both guns are allowed to coexist rather than one completely killing out the other because they’re both freakin sweet 🤘🏻

Had a PX4 about 10-12 years ago. Sold it and haven’t thought about it since, until now. Still don’t miss it!
