    • @davidsubotin7122
      @davidsubotin7122 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @ Yes that is true, but most hybrid supercars have an ICE that is of a smaller capacity engine that is turbocharged mated to a dsg or some other kind of automatic gearbox.
      Also yes this is a mild hybrid in that it only powers the external components of the car and ads nothing to the powertrain itself.

    • @mikea5205
      @mikea5205 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @ -mild hybrid would mean it adds some sort of power to what the engine does, which it does not. There to remove accessory belts. Like the engineer in the vid said, it's an integrated starter generator. Also mild hybrid cars have some sort of electric range, which this also does not.

    • @davestadler5434
      @davestadler5434 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@Ariskot007 so wrong, but there we go. Turbos increase efficiency when correctly matched. The current F1 machines have the same power as their eighties turbo beast brethren but use literally half the fuel, 100kgs/hour max fuel flow rate.
      The first F1 limit to fuel tank size came in 1985 at 215 litres or so, cut incrementally to 150 litres for 1988 season with 2.5bar boost limit. The naturally-aspirated engines could never keep up with Honda's turbo and even ran out of fuel themselves, with 3500cc capacity but less than 600bhp.
      Doesn't always translate on the road to be fair, but ultimately the turbo is by far the most efficient way of supercharging a piston engine, and hence maximising power from a given amount of fuel. They inherently reduce noise; all noise is waste energy... what a way to waste it with this Cossie though!! Spine tingling

    It sounds like a gas-operated trumpet, and I say that with good meaning. I have years of experience studying and playing the trombone and it surprised me that the T.50's engine and exhaust make it sound like a hand-crafted, finely tuned brass instrument and I can tell they put a lot of work in how the engine sounds because they're using terms like "resonance" a lot; resonance is a fundamental concept of sound physics and music theory and I can tell GMA and Cosworth paid a lot of attention to resonance when designing the engine and exhaust. The only other partnership I know that held that much attention to detail was Yamaha and Lexus for the Lexus LFA and it was really cool seeing Yamaha's musical and mechanical expertise combined to make a lovely exhaust sound for that car. It's really cool to see more cars being made with a lot of development focused around an engine's sound.

    I just can’t stop smiling at that sound!!! Reminds me of the 90s F1 cars the way it has that shrill shriek almost like nothing you’ve ever heard before. And rightfully so, it is a sound that many people have never heard before with their own two ears, now we get to live it all over again, what a time to be alive!

      The problem is the car has a retro look that has little attraction, he should had started copying the F1 Longtail as a base for his car. A road legal LeMans car needs to have a longer wheelbase and be more slipstreamed.
