The current F1 machines have the same power as their eighties turbo beast brethren but use literally half the fuel, 100kgs/hour max fuel flow rate. The first F1 limit to fuel tank size came in 1985 at 215 litres or so, cut incrementally to 150 litres for 1988 season with 2.5bar boost limit. The naturally-aspirated engines could never keep up with Honda's turbo and even ran out of fuel themselves, with 3500cc capacity but less than 600bhp. Doesn't always translate on the road to be fair, but ultimately the turbo is by far the most efficient way of supercharging a piston engine, and hence maximising power from a given amount of fuel. They inherently reduce noise; all noise is waste energy... what a way to waste it with this Cossie though!! Spine tingling

@@dumpsterstu4474 I'm 6'5" and have shall we say a very large frame and i have owned multiple mx5's (uk name for the eunos/miata) Best mod i ever made to one was removing the drivers door handle and replacing it with a motorsport style strap. This gave me lots of extra legroom -before i struggled, after I could manage to my hearts content even doing track days. You can also gain more headroom with a procedure called a "foamectomy" (google it) but be aware its a permanent mod, not something that takes 5 minutes to do or replace.

Today we have a holiday in Poland and companies are closed. But I came to my company on purpose to be able to listen to it at full volume on large speakers. I couldn't wait until tomorrow...

I cried when it peaked its rev range. I can’t stop listening to this engine. I’m in love. I don’t care if it’s jUsT nOsTaLgIa and takes me right back to when I was a kid when F1 sounded like this and life was way simpler and way better. I’m gonna wipe away the tears from my eyes and listen to it for the 8th time in a row, don’t mind me.
Sat here listening to this and smiling hearing that beautiful engine. Electric may be the future, but no matter how fast and powerful it is it’ll never compete in giving such a complete experience as this marvel of engineering.
I'm not the type of person to say, "this is the best thing..." but this engine is in a category of its own. To think it never existed before because Gordon didn't ask for it to be made yet. It spins so effortlessly, never sounding strained. Such an organic tone to it. Imagine how it'll sound behind the driver plus the induction sound!
Oh it's mighty, but if you want to hear the best sounding engine ever, listen to the BRM V16 at full cry, trust me, you will never forget that sound for as long as you live. One of the recordings hear on youtube is really good, but it doesn't compare to hearing it with your own ears. If the devil had a car, it would sound like the BRM V16..
@@Duncangafney1 BRM are working on a new V16 based on the original in many respects. While I did love hearing this T.50 engine at full song, the frequency/pitch of it isn't quite there for me compared to the fact that it's built in many ways like a F1 engine. For instance the Carrera GT or Lexus LFA to me are closer to thet noise. I am hoping they in the T.50 and in the elements that it will so I'm sound a bit better than in a dyno room.
In terms of pure engine note it’s almost reminiscent of the BRM V16, but the BRM had an edge of malevolence that has never been matched, not even by this jewel of an engine.
Amen brother. As a typically very rational and logically minded person, this is one area I will absolutely make an exception. A good engine note during your drive really brings out the passion.
In a world of uncertainty, I thank the Universe for people like Gordon Murray and Cosworth. Dario has been there, done that and to see the joy and wonder on his face with the V12 at full noise is something magical. Its pure Motorsport Nirvana!!

I've never been so excited to wait for more videos, than in 1991 when my mates mum owned a freehold garage and he used to get free top shelf videos from Mayfair magazine.
The sound of this gem of engine is just out of this world...it is so angry and, at the same time, so composed and so soothing that it brought tears to my eyes....driving a car equipped with this engine and a 7 speed manual gearbox on a circuit would be my ULTIMATE dream when it comes to motoring...!Kudos to Sir Gordon Murray for making this possible and long live the V12 Cosworth...One day, I will own one FGW!
I'll never sit in a T.50 let alone drive one, but I do feel excited to see it's development and experience some of the passion that is normally hidden inside a closed factory. You guys are very generous to share the journey with us non-paying customers.

I could listen 👂 to the engineer talk all day, let alone the beautiful engine 😁👍 then I'm sat with hairs stood on end, and I can hear in my head go on lass keep going, go on, come on engine.. It's quite an emotional video 😃 ps reminds me the first time I heard the rotary 787b and my hairs stood to attention involuntary..
That sound brought tears to my eyes. Immeasurable amount of respect Mr. Murray from a fellow South African born and tertiary educated mechanical engineer. Real life example showing there are no limits to what one can achieve.
It sounds like a gas-operated trumpet, and I say that with good meaning. I have years of experience studying and playing the trombone and it surprised me that the T.50's engine and exhaust make it sound like a hand-crafted, finely tuned brass instrument and I can tell they put a lot of work in how the engine sounds because they're using terms like "resonance" a lot; resonance is a fundamental concept of sound physics and music theory and I can tell GMA and Cosworth paid a lot of attention to resonance when designing the engine and exhaust. The only other partnership I know that held that much attention to detail was Yamaha and Lexus for the Lexus LFA and it was really cool seeing Yamaha's musical and mechanical expertise combined to make a lovely exhaust sound for that car. It's really cool to see more cars being made with a lot of development focused around an engine's sound. Someone should make a concert band comprising of a bunch of T.50s and program them to play music lol.

I just can’t stop smiling at that sound!!! Reminds me of the 90s F1 cars the way it has that shrill shriek almost like nothing you’ve ever heard before. And rightfully so, it is a sound that many people have never heard before with their own two ears, now we get to live it all over again, what a time to be alive!
This partnership could only end on this, a true masterpiece. Gordon is the father of the F1 and this time the much upgraded T50 could only sound like the era of the F1 V12, a true racing pedigree.
The problem is the car has a retro look that has little attraction, he should had started copying the F1 Longtail as a base for his car. A road legal LeMans car needs to have a longer wheelbase and be more slipstreamed.
The excitement that Dario expresses is palpable, I felt his exticement as if I were there and it nearly brought a bit of... sweat from nearby my eye. This is a truly special thing that well sorted, powerful V-12 engines possess and should be appreciated by all automotive enthusiasts.
If there was any way to capture this sound in visual format, I’d plaster my entire office wall with that piece of art. Never would I have thought an engine sound would be one of the biggest motivators to work my ass off for the hopes of just driving one before I die. Absolutely Legendary.
@@InfamousAMH the reason F1 uses this engines is to lower emissions and fuel consumption, they will never go back to a big N/A V12, unless a new technology allows them to massively reduce emissions
@@chrissss696 yes, but we could easily switch back to them. Just not efficiently. Current tech is focusing on making smaller engines more powerful and more efficient, rather than focusing on making larger engines more powerful and more efficient.

@@chrissss696 yes, but we could easily switch back to them. Just not efficiently. Current tech is focusing on making smaller engines more powerful and more efficient, rather than focusing on making larger engines more powerful and more efficient.
