@@Mattiagiglio1993 heic support 16 bit while jpeg only 8 bit but still jpeg is still superior because it support different platform while heic will convert to jpeg when shared online.

Most of the improvement is not real important for a day to day user but could mean a lot for professionals

I don't know, throughout your video 90% of the daytime shots I liked better from the older S20. All of them appeared to have more details. The S21 shots looked more blurry.
te entiendo, lo que sucede es que en el S20 los negros estan mas oscuros, en el s21 los negros se ven un poco lavados, pero en edición puedes hacer que el S21 se vea mas oscuro.
el s21 tiene mayor HDR por eso se ve "borroso", pero en edición puedes mejorar eso mucho xq tendras mas detalles en la oscuridad y en la luz, en el s20 no.

01:42 Here I would say its just a matter of the (auto?) set focus of the camera - if you adjust the focus in pro mode on the S20 and shoot the exact same picture again, I am sure it would come out almost exactly as the picture shown there for the S21.

I would really love to see a comparison between the newest and an older phone. I have a Pixel 3 and have a hard time trying to figure out if I should upgrade, I still think my Pixel 3 takes great photos. Anyway just an idea, I think it would be an interesting video

Returned the 12 pro max for the 21 Ultra. Been pretty happy so far. Samsung needs to fix the 1080p video at 60 FPS though... it suffers from the ‘Samsung Stutter’. 4k 60 is excellent on all cameras, however!

With Samsung particularly, motion blur can be a problem when taking pictures of moving subjects, especially at low light (e.g. kids, pets). Pixels and iPhones handle these scenarios particularly well. Do you think you would be able to incorporate an action shot segment into these in-depth comparisons? No other creator really focuses on this, but there is a decent collection of people online who bring this topic up on forums with every new Galaxy release. You sort of touched on it in the low light portion with the S20 vs. S21 Ultra shot of the bush, but of course, with a stationary subject.

@@XiWein the use different ISP in post processing so they're both very different . Especially this year.
@@mharro88 yes they are different but the new Image Signal Processor (ISP) on the Exynos 2100 supports cameras with sensors up to 200 MP (and those are on the way). Better yet, it can be connected to six individual sensors and process data from four of them simultaneously (the Snapdragon only manages three streams) keep that in mind
@@XiWein doesn't matter what it can theoretically do hardware wise.. the post possessing on the exynos is disgusting compared to the snapdragon. Have a look at the video I've posted for you above.
Photos on the exynos model are just way over processed and 4k video is as bad as midtier phones... Hopefully updates improve it but I doubt it
@@mharro88 camera and storage is important to me. I received the S21 plus a few days ago and I'm switching back to my S20 plus. The camera (especially video on the Ultrawide) is terrible. Grainy, blurry when moving and full of noise and on top of that they removed the option to use flash when using the ultrawide so it's useless in low light. The white balance is definitely off iswell, especially in indoor conditions making things look very yellow/warm. Only place it's better is the front camera.
I love both cameras. But I would get the slightly worse camera on the s20 with the better outer build and display and the expandable storage…

My only issue with the S21 Ultra is the lack of an sd card slot.

Good point but the main cameras are the same pretty much so idk if there will be many changes in the future considering they already updated it lots from the s20 but who knows.
great review but please make sure both lenses are 100% clean. a tiny touch of oil can ruin best camera. I noticed on one video that s21 ultra had a smudge from the sun (that's how you find oil fingers on a glass element). cheers!

I think you should make comparison with S10 too. Some people still curious, is it worth to upgrade from S10. Because mostly people will use basic camera features such as photo, video, portrait and nightmode.
I have the S20 Ultra and I feel tempted to trade it for the S21, but it costed me 1600$, and samsung is giving me 700$ off only. I will wait for the S22 hoping to see more substantial upgrades. Thank you for the comparison, very helpful!

I really hope Samsung brings that focus enhancer to the Note 20 Ultra. This is probably my biggest disappointment. I don't like these constant blur edges when taking close up pictures.

At night, the phone switches to the main sensor for 10x shots. This is super annoying, so a quick hack is to cover up your main lens. That allows the phone to recognize there's something blocking it, and it switches to the 10x.
Danny is my go to youtuber when it comes to camera comparison. I think I will go for s20 ultra I'm getting it for 2/3rd price of s21 ultra
there are some improvements here and there, but u gotta have both phones with you and pixel peeping to see it, otherwise i think u cannot see or feel the differences, if someone owns a G20, i don't think they should switch it just for the camera department, keep your phone with u it still rocks and wait for the g22 or 23 to get the most of it.
S20 ultra's camera is still a beast but s21 ultra's is better and will get even better through software updates. Exynos version of s21 ultra seems to have a problem on video stabilization though according to other reviews.

I certainly appreciate your comparisons, but in this test, it appears as though most pictures are blurry. I could be wrong, but I believe your previous comparison to the IPhone had both phones with better pictures.
DXO gives a lower score to the S21 ultra than to the S20 ultra. Noise vor Video 93 points S20U, 75 points S21U. Watch 13:02 and make your own conclusions.

How's the shutter lag (if any)? My S20+ Exynos is depressing at times and it's not saving to a SD card and live photos is turned off.
Worth upgrading from iPhone 12 pro max? I was really disappointed with the battery life on the Note 20 Ultra and switched to the iPhone. The iPhone has been amazing in terms of battery life and daily usage but I kind of miss Android. The 120Hz 1440p screen, true multitasking PIP mode, and big battery makes me intrigued about it.

I don't know how you got the S20 Ultra to take clear pictures. I had it for one day recently and was comparing against my s10+. The S20 U just would not focus clearly on 1x and wouldn't take a clear picture of a room, only one small area in focus. Returned it immediately.
at first i skipped to low light video now i watch the whole video.
S20 Ultra has a 4x optical. Should have compared that with 3x optical of S21 Ultra.
Love the comparison but I have a quick question. I’m hearing different reviewers say the 21 Ultra is using the main lens with a crop for portrait mode while others are saying it uses the 3x telephoto so can we get some verification on that from the photo info from portrait mode shots? I think I’m going to wait it out before upgrading to the Ultra from the iPhone 11 Pro and see if Apple will give us some camera upgrades this fall.
It’s the main with a crop. The S20 Ultra still uses the 3X.

It's 2.2X actually cause the telephoto lense is a hybrid one with 1.1X optical zoom. Multiply it with 2 and you're getting 2.2 which is equivalent of 56MM. That's the reason portrait shots from S20 and S21 series look a bit more cropped than the Note 10 Plus which has pure 2X zoom lens.
Ports should be shot on the native 3x. Digital zoom is NEVER better than optical from native glass - I don't care how big the primary sensor is.... They screwed that one up IMO.....
