Please watch the video again and listen to how Danny analyzed the photos. The iphone has more details, clarity and noise reduction etc in both day and night photos. Overall, the iphone photos are better. I had to pause each image to look closely. The iphone is just so much better in almost all samples shown.
@@ayfemz9179 I can agree that night photos are better overall but not in every case sometimes imo the s21U got the better result but, in daylight pictures they're almost the same and sometimes the s21 got more natural colors that is something why iphones has always had been praised for, now that the iPhone got more saturated colors people are saying that's better, Apple will always be praised no matter what they do 🤷🏻♂️
It's like Samsung and iPhone swapped characteristics on their cameras.. A few years ago, Samsung phones were the ones blowing out colors and less true to life balance. Now it's the opposite.
I prefer the iPhone 13 Pro Max between the 2, even though I just got the iPhone 13 Pro Max myself (finally upgraded from iPhone 7 Plus after 5 years of use LOL). I'd say the iPhone 13 Pro Max looks more vibrant and the S21 Ultra looks a little bit more muted in some instances or a bit over-exposed looking. I'm not a camera/video expert so...yea... Either way, both have their pros & cons and it comes down to preference of the individual. You can always edit the photos anyway to adjust colors, tones, etc.
Some of the things you talked about can simply be adjusted in the Samsung's cam settings.. Increase brightness, touch the contrast, this things are simple. Saturation, all this stuff you'd find with settings. The issue is, most people who complain about this stuff have never really taken the time to study the ability of this phones..
Thats a pretty good comparison. I am disappointed too with the s21 Ultra's noise reduction. Mine does that too but I have noticed when I tryed to take a night picture with 108mp mode the noise was gone. It's very strange. Try it out
HDR tends to add more noise and they add more noise reduction. The 108mp mode may not have as much HDR and so your noise will be hidden especially if darker areas are darker.
Great video. Love how in-depth you go. S21 Ultra continues to be an amazing camera; still arguably the best if you consider every lens and every feature. But 13 Pro Max edges it out in FANTASTIC low-light performance, and still being the video king (though the difference between the two in video performance IS smaller than ever, so kudos to Samsung there). Also unfortunate to think about how Samsung has had Portrait Video for years and is still much worse than the iPhone's first attempt, for one main reason: all it does is cut out the individual. It's not bad at that, but it's not doing anything to emulate depth and DSLR-like aesthetics like the iPhone is trying to do. It's not great on iPhone, don't get me wrong. But Samsung definitely has more work to do than Apple. Samsung's front-facing portrait video is actually quite good, though, because its deficiencies are not nearly as clear in the style of video that comes from front-facing cameras (person right in the middle of the frame, no focus roll-off to worry about from wider shots, etc.).
Great comparison! What do you think about camera behaviour concerning flares? Normal optical phenomenon which seems to be more pronounced on iPhone. Can you compare this feature? Thanks

Danny, I hope you elevate the caption a bit so that it is slightly above when we zoom in to your 2:1 videos. The corners of 2:1 aspect ratio is kinda annoying in recent iPhones since these already reach the curve part of iPhone screens.
@@RennieAsh I think raising the caption a bit wont hurt others while benefitting the small minority with curved corners. I dont zoom to fill typical 16:10, 16:9, 4:3 videos but 2:1 corners are reaching the notch and curved corners of mine.
Wait, the Galaxy can't do night mode 3x portrait either? This is HUGELY disappointing to me. Also something I noticed is that the Galaxy handles highlight details better in night mode, while the the iPhone often overexposes highlights. Your camera comparisons are AMAZING, seriously! Keep up with the awesome work 👏
At 3:47 when you mentioned detail, I'm not sure if that's resolved detail or just an after affect of high contrast and sharpening+increased structure, so labeled as better in detail might be misconcieved by some viewers as actually having better resolved details. So maybe that can be clarified, otherwise great video.
yeah the reality is far from that. In every other test the iPhone is the portrait winner. I don't know why it failed in this test. But you said it yourself the iPhone has a lidar scanner so it there is no logic to do worse.
The saturated colors have always looked better in my opinion. That's also the option of the majority. So even though they're exaggerated on the iPhone they look much more pleasing to the eye.
@10:50, what if you used the Samsung pro mode to match the iPhone settings… will you still get the ISO noise?, looking at getting a newish phone and torn between the S21 ultra or iPhone, since a lot of my photos are also taken in low light/evening/night
Been with iphone since the second generation, when i heard samsung was putting a 108 pixel in their galaxy I was expecting to see the images on the s21 to be 10x better than the pro max, i mean its a 108p vs 12p.
I prefer the iPhone because of the level of detail, not a fan of the saturated look though…I do like the way the night mode photos look, but I can always edit my night photos on my 12 pro max a bit to make it look similar. The 13 pros photos because they look darker out of the box maybe sometimes that detail is lost. Danny, I hope you elevate the caption a bit so that it is slightly above when we zoom in to your 2:1 videos. The corners of 2:1 aspect ratio is kinda annoying in recent iPhones since these already reach the curve part of iPhone screens.
I don't zoom to fill because you'll usually be losing out on some content. No one aspect ration can suit everyone.
@@RennieAsh I think raising the caption a bit wont hurt others while benefitting the small minority with curved corners. I dont zoom to fill typical 16:10, 16:9, 4:3 videos but 2:1 corners are reaching the notch and curved corners of mine.
Great video! Well compared!
Thank you. Great camera comparison.
You can increase the night-mode exposure time
On the iphone to go up to 5-30sec. On automatic mode it will always use low exposure time.
WoW!!! great comparison! Can’t wait for ma IPhone 13 coming soon from s21 ultra user 👌🏻
Which S21 ultra is it ? Snapdragon or exynos ?
This is a great review. Are you going to do one for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro? Seriously one of the best reviews I’ve seen. Subscribing now!
Thank you! Yes I am working on one this weekend
A excellent comparison Danny, thanks very much. I can only affor one of these so I will wait for new phones in 2022. I am happy with the S20FE for now
S20 FE still a great phone!
13 Pro Max 🔥🔥🔥
Perfect comparison 👌 👏 👍 🙌 ❤ 😍.......soo Perfect I enjoyed it 😀..thank you
Thanks, for my needs you sold me on the Galaxy.
Wow iPhone totally destroyed Samsung in low light
In low light video. Samsung nailed Apple to the cross in might time pictures both front and rear camera.

Amazing content!
Pixel 6 Pro next?
s21 without lidar destroyed the iphone in portrait mode. Incredible.
yeah the reality is far from that.
Thanks bro 🙏🏻 great video
Watching this, I'm sooo hyped to get my hands on the S22 ultra next year. For the first time, I'll pre-order a phone
Been with iphone since the second generation, when i heard samsung was putting a 108 pixel in their galaxy I was expecting to see the images on the s21 to be 10x better than the pro max, i mean its a 108p vs 12p.
The S21 Ultra has more features and has better zoom...forget the video iPhone BS. No one runs around taking a ton of videos at night.
Yep, because zoom = better photos. It’s not about the number of features, it’s about how each phone performs and executes them.
Wow. S21 is impressive.
i LOOOOVE Danny's videos !
Great job on your reviews you keep improving and you point out many details and little things that the other reviewers don’t even mention like for example how long does it take for each shot on each phone and that’s important, thank you for your comparisons can’t wait to see the pixel 6 hope you get it to compare!
are you shooting at 108MP???
great review ! thx you !
danny is worse upgrade from iphone 12 to 13 pro ?
Excelente video amigo.
