    Cyrus is so successful in Pre-Sales because Tech companies literally look for Evangelist types, while many qualified Pre-Sales Engineers are more technical and introverts. He is a bit of an unicorn and this reflects in his career trajectory. I would suggest to the average guy to start with sales (there are a bunch of free or almost free tech sales courses) build a sales muscle and than move across into Sales Engineering.

      Hey! I’ll send you 2 options that I generally recommend. It’s up to you to decide which is best for your goals and budget.
      1. General Assembly is one of the most top ranked tech bootcamps & has many courses like Product Management, UX/UI, Digital Marketing and more! They’re partnered with thousands of companies so their network allows you to get plenty of interviews. You can do their bootcamp from anywhere in the world. They’re $4k for part time. ($200 discount link in my bio)
      2. CourseCareers is self paced. You can finish it in 3 weeks - 3 months. They offer tech sales roles which the avg entry salary of $65k - $95k. They are partnered with tech companies, so they’re able to help you get interviews with companies looking to hire their graduates. They also have paid internships (up to $21/hr) while you wait to get hired on. They only offer courses for people in Canada & USA. They’re just $449 WITH MY DISCOUNT CODE: Cyrus50 Link in my bio for other FAQs

    I hope careerist is legit and reputable. I've looked into them pretty expensively and have read some pretty disappointing reviews. Building fake resumes, generic training that can be found for free. Many sources also said the jobs they did land came from their own reaching out and applying, not from careerist. I'm happy for this man's success in the industry but for me this just feels like a plug for careerist.

    Fantastic Video as always and Congrats on all of your success! I do want to correct one area though you mentioned regarding Support. That is indeed very much tech. After a product is built and sold it needs to be supported. That is the primary job of a Support Engineer which often requires advanced skills in the software product, different programming languages, cloud technologies, operating systems, databases, network, etc. This too is a six figure role and can make an organization money through advanced support contracts.

    • @techisthenewblack
      @techisthenewblack  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You’re correct. I think we’re speaking about 2 different kinds of tech support. I’m speaking of the kind that don’t have any technical knowledge. They’re just a version of customer service. They can’t code or do any backend stuff besides basic proxy lol

    Is there a sort of "personality test" or "job fit questionnaire" out there that would suggest which tech path may be best for a person based on their personality, strengths, etc.?
    Like if you're a creative type then these 3 or 4 tech careers would be up your ally.
    Or do the schools help suggest that through an interview process?

    2 years into my MIS degree and I’m wondering if I should’ve just gotten certs instead 💀 in all honesty though I have heard that a degree still gives people a leg up over those with only certs, at least during the hiring process. But in terms of technical knowledge I do still feel I’m lacking as an MIS curriculum is still pretty business heavy. Getting some Coursera certifications on the side to counteract that, those certifications are a lot cheaper than others and have good reviews.

    • @GreatBlazes123
      @GreatBlazes123 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Having social skills to get you through the interviews work. Education will always reign king and certs keep you current. Maybe you can become a consultant one day. Make sure you invest. Real estate, Slow motion Stocks and let your money grow so you don’t know have to do anything but live off of your investments. Cyrus is a hustler who is taking the bread from his jobs, referrals, using those skills from being able to talk well poured it into his podcast. He’s a genius actually. Especially in this era. Where people will do anything for quick money. It’s on you to put in the work which he did. Some people will succeed some won’t because they don’t have the ethic. Long story short the purpose of making a ton of money is to plant it to make more for you . And it’s gets you connected. Great job Cyrus !

    Hey, I'm on the other side of Tech (Engineer) and noticed how you kinda disregarded IT and Support as not being 'tech". This is something I've seen from management as we are considered an expense even though we are the ones building out and maintaining the systems that the " money makers" use.
    Great video.... I'm thinking of looking into sale engineer positions as part time or a transition.

    These courses are 6 weeks long, virtual and are 8pm - 10:30pm Sun- Thur (Eastern). They record their classes In case you miss any. They are not partnered with tech companies, but they fix your resume & LinkedIn to industry standards and they assist you with finding jobs to apply to - in order to help set you up on interviews.

    It’s interesting the more I get interested in the tech field, the more I notice the different types of softwares and uses for it where I work.
    The company I work with is overall good pay, benefits, and great people to work with, except the job itself is mentally draining my soul. I convinced myself to stay for so long because of the benefits and actually enjoying who I work with, so I thought I owed myself to be loyal to this company. Now I understand that the company probably won’t give a damn about me if I left anyways! This year I’m learning to put myself first!

I don’t want to go to careerist, their reviews aren’t pleasing.

I really love front end developing as I’m currently studying many programming languages, but this sales engineer seems pretty interesting to me. I was thinking doing a boot camp on either career or even both but don’t know which to exactly go with. Is their a way to be a sales engineer, at the same time develop or program websites. I feel like having the knowledge for both would be helpful. I am also pursuing a BS degree in business management and would like to know if that’s a good idea for working in Tech.
