    I think I was at that event in Atlanta. NBMBAA changed my life. I went as an observer the year before in Houston. The next year in ATL I had a mission, same prep, same work...and I landed my first six figure job. This resonates strongly with me.

    Secret to big tech is feeder schools and feeder employers. After that, it's just focus on doubling your income, interview prep, etc. Feeder schools is really the key. Georgia Tech is a Microsoft feeder. Microsoft is a Salesforce feeder.

    We need a part 2 to understand how. I’ve known ppl that have made crazy money in tech sales that were in the right territory at the right time. Also, how many years are you making a million dollars income? Reason I ask is because the ppl I know that have done it end up having their territories divided and carry a higher number which makes it harder to hit a million in consecutive years.

      @techisthenewblack  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hey! Sorry to hear that you haven’t gotten a job yet. Depending on what you have or haven’t been doing, that can usually determine how long it takes. It took CJ 1 month, myself 2 months, Malachi 3 months, Tiffaney 4 months, Eman 5 and his wife 1 month. Just as examples. Some things you can do to speed up the process is
      1. Have a consistent process in place (apply to 5-10 companies per day, reach out to the recruiters/hiring managers at the company, etc)
      2. Make sure your Linkedin is up to par. See my FAQs on linkedin tips
      3. How many tech tech networking events have you attended? These events are incredibly valuable and allow you to build personal rapport with recruiters.
      4. Interview coaching. I recommend reaching out to recruitercousin or ooolala_naj for coaching on IG.
      5. Definitely consider applying and interviewing for tech sales roles too. If you did a sales engineering bootcamp, you can apply to both roles. Please see my FAQs and podcast interviews with recruiters for more free tips! Careerist says they are money back guaranteed

    • @techisthenewblack
      @techisthenewblack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! So sign on bonuses are applicable to nearly any role and any level in tech. But the more experience/senior you are, that usually determines how much companies are willing to give as a bonus. The best time to ask for a bonus is after a company has sent you an offer letter.
      They aren’t going to take the offer back just because you ask for more (a sign on bonus). Also, you have better leverage to ask for more when you have offers from other companies too.

    How far in his career did he ask for $100K sign-on bonus?

    • @techisthenewblack
      @techisthenewblack  ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Rashaadthegr8
      @Rashaadthegr8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@techisthenewblack Gotcha. I just was wondering because it takes some confidence to ask for 100K at entry level than it would be from mid level.
