Wong sifu can do almost everything from restoration, wiring to engine troubleshooting. Thats amazing.
Indeed. I guess that's how and why he got the title Sifu :)
Proud malaysian here. Even prouder when its a woman taking on the journey of an old Lc restoration… rare species here.. aku subscribe! From another Lc and Hilux owner…
Yay thanks for the sub!
You can use a rust converter, it is easier than scraping the rust. A rust converter after one day after application will turn rust into a ferous oxide and rust is gone.
@@JunOutdoorsWong Sefu is the Wong Fei Hung of cars especially 4x4s. I also saw a Pajero is that his personal project?
Change your Fuel filter at the gas station and fill the new one before install, it will save you a lot of pumping. Awesome Truck! I have a 95 Hilux surf with 1kz, best motor ever! 😁
Thanks for the tip!
Somehow comforting to watch how the baby is being moulded to take on an exciting future! Looking forward to more epis to come
Thanks Caryn. Hope this baby has a bright future!
Can't wait for the next episode. Wong Sifu is a complete package.
Yeah that's true. Although he seldom does paint job, but still needs one whenever he does it.
Am now glued to this project. Love it.
Wonderful!
You can check to see if the radiator fan viscous clutch is working properly by idling the engine after its fully warmed up (e.g. after a drive), and getting someone to turn the engine off as you observe the fan. If the fan stops immediately after the engine is switched off, this means the clutch pack is working as designed. But if the fan simply keeps spinning after the engine is turned off, it's time to service the fan clutch or simply replace it.
That's a great tip. Thank you so much!
Nice job, looking forward to the completion of this LC new look.
Thanks! Stay tuned :)
When’s part 2 coming out? Great build series to watch
Coming soon!

I'll try. Stay tuned!
Hey Jun, another great sharing! I am keen to consider going into car camping. With limited budget, considering having an old 4WD. After what you have gone through with the Land Cruiser redo, would you recommend that for others?
Hello, happy to hear you are considering to get into car camping! Well, it's still premature for me to give any advice because I have not taken my Land Cruiser for camping yet! But from what I've seen and heard, an old wagon like this is a good choice. They were built to last :)
@@JunOutdoors Thanks Jun for your response. Much appreciated. If I may ask, how much it costs to have the Wong SiFu redo the whole car?
After this video, Wong Sifu will be famous and busy of works.
Hope he doesn't mind that!
@@JunOutdoors where do I find Wong Sifu?
Wow, Wong Sifu is so skillful and knowledgable.
Jun, your work is truly commendable! I own a Land Cruiser HZJ71V, which I imported from Japan in pristine condition. However, after residing in Scotland for 2 1/2 years, it began displaying signs of surface corrosion underneath, despite my limited use during summers and avoidance of winter driving. I recently watched your captivating Land Cruiser restoration series while commuting on the train. I eagerly anticipate the release of the second episode, especially after having my own Land Cruiser undergo a comprehensive undersealing treatment for rust protection. Keep up the fantastic work! 🚙👏
Rust is something we are all afraid of! Hope your land cruiser is doing alright now. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the next video!

Wong Shifu is blessed to have a beautiful and dedicated apprentice. His sharing method is highly appreciated for Jun to manage the LC in the hour of need. Good luck and happy restoration to the maximum to Jun and Jupiter.
Thank you very much :)
Seeing you directly involved in giving personal touches to the Monster LC restoration process will make this LC very special.
It is pretty special to me already :)
Dude I can not believe how solid that thing is! Wow great machine Jun. it looks like minimal rust and I know in Ohio, (North East U.S.) my vehicles rust horribly. I will say I'm a little bummed that Sifu removed the Valvoline container patching the hole in your transmission tunnel, that was cool. I would've welded it in place and kept it there lol
Excellent work.. this is super fun and exciting to see the truck transformation.. and Jun have the right and keen learning behavior , thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Waa..ni kalau zaman belajar mmg ak pinjam buku nota dia😂. Mesti Byk sticky notes lepastu colorful
great job! Props to Wong sifu for being patient and allowing you to be hands on, not many workshops will do that!
Yes I am grateful for that :)
what a legend ay!
Cant wait for ur LC to fully restored..i have LC too...already setup with overland settings...always first choice for long distance journey...
Amazing!
Those mech’ beaters were definitly wishing you werent their tho justsayin’
You wont feel any difference on the damping insulation on this super solid LC
Nice work! Nice to see the bare bones of a slightly different KZJ78 than the JDM version (Prado) that I have here in New Zealand. Intrigued that the ECU has been removed, I didn’t know that was an option.
Yes, the ECU has been replaced by a manual one. Done by the previous owner. So it is now a fully mechanical cruiser!
taksabar nak tunggu vedio seterusnya 😁😁😁
I am enjoying the restoration series of "My DREAM TRUCK". LOL
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it :)
Exciting ! Can't wait to see the final outcome
There will be no FINAL OUTCOME. Land Cruisers have no end point for restoration and modification.
You start drive your Dream Truck nanti sure you exactly like your idol Eva zu Beck.
Just being myself and not trying to copy anyone.. but Eva is awesome :)
Nice video Jun. been watching your videos for a while but this new series takes my interest a notch higher. I’m a Malaysian living in the Middle East who happens to own a 100 series LC. We have a camping club of Malaysians with 80,100 and 200 series LC plus some Prados and FJ Cruisers. Looking forward for the next episodes.
Thanks. Sounds like a great community you have in the Middle East!
Strip it Down Bare find rust problems treat it before respray,if you gona replace a leaky radiator might as well install a new engine thermostat and water pump, new hoses, belting, etc!
The 70Series is Legendary as with All Land Cruisers adding to Toyotas Reliability!
Great tip and insight. I'll keep your suggestions in mind. Thanks :)
Lables will not stay in place you need take pictures of your lables and sense this an older vehicle you need check your frame to see if rusty and rotted frame i bought a 2009 h3t hummer truck to discover my frame is rotted in many locations, you always need to inspect the complete vechile

the labels you did will get erased soon. you should take a picture of the engine bay then edit it with number labels. then type it on your cellphone notes what that number label is, u can also upload it privately on your social media so you wont miss/lose it. i also took a video just to be sure.
That's actually a good idea. Thanks!

i was thinking to adopt xv. whats the main issue that you think its not capable of overlanding?
the XV is a very capable car for some light off-roading. I think the main issue would be the lack of space and storage. And for overlanding, I believe less electronics is better :)
Fantastic... love to see the progress and soon the final result.. and to see you making your hands dirty and learn every step from the master is just amazing.. all the best...
This is just the tip of the iceberg! I've still got lots to learn. Thanks for watching :)

Hi..jun orang mana..r u Malaysian
Ye saya orang Malaysia :)
how much total its cost ?
There is no total cost, because it is always a work in progress. Different people will put in different cost to the same car. Anything between 10k to 100k.
Soon you'll start spending more than u paid for the car, then you'll start questioning yourself if this is all worth it.
The extra is payment for education and experience. 😂.
Time will tell :)
Having some experience of restoring old vehicles, I would start with checking engine compression and valve seals leaks. Replace all struts and front diff bushings, worn ball joints, and brake system is in order. After that, i would inspect the CVs, 4WD transfer chain for slack, pinions and ring gears of front/back backlash. These are the major components that usually need replacing for an old 4WD. Old diesel cars are IDI (Indirect Diesel Injection) so they are generally more reliable. Unfortunately, that also means they are less powerful and consume much more fuel than their modern counterparts.
If you plan on DIY maintenance, you should also download a copy of the car's electrical diagram and repair manual.
Jun.. In future can consider change to 1KD / 1GD Engine.
Are you living in USA ??
Nope, I live in Malaysia :)
hi Jun i just can wait to see your Truck complete. Nice sharing, love to watch your channel, keep it up.
Thanks! Stay tuned for the next video :)

Good thinking Jun. Restoration and preventive maintenance before taking your rig out will ensure it is in good condition and will last longer. An LC is a joy to drive on those tough, off road trails.
Hope so! Thank you!

AWESOME CHOICE IN CAR! I have a restored Kzj78 myself and dote over it like anything. Suggest you use some dymo tape for your labelling when you find time. Am sure you will eventually, (find time that is). I replaced the mag wheels with 5-piece WEDS from eBay Japan and went with new tires from Falken as the ones that came with the car were showing some wear after years of use. Also installed a frontrrunner roof rack for my awning to be able to latch on….enjoy the restoration journey! (P.S. am now a subscriber :-) )
Thanks for the sub! Your KZJ78 sounds great!
This is my dream car also, hope I will get someday

Just my two cents knowledge.... Keeping it original is always the best policy.
Overheating usually occurs when the cooling system is filled with dirt and needs proper cleaning, proper coolant, functioning valve , poor engine gasket.
Should not change the fan to aftermarket unless it is meant specifically for this vehicle. Change to the original of this model if your existing fan clutch is not optimum.
If the cooling system is in healthy conditions, it should not be a problem for normal running even at traffic jams.
If you are doing 4W Low gear for extended distance, yes, you may see temperature rising due to slow pace and high engine rev. My suggestion is to add a good unit of auto fan at the radiator front.(If space allows- pandai pandai lah). That should help to give you some extension.
If it still tak boleh, you must be damned hardcore with the 4Wheeling. The simple answer your car is calling - Take-A-Break-lah!
I could not see overlanding expeditions needing to engage 4Wheeling low gear for miles. That is only for professionals, that like to get their adrenaline hormones kicking....lompat longkang, langgar bukit kakis...😂
Thanks for your detailed info and insight!
Yes I do believe simple and basic is the best. Don't want to overdo it and cause more problems. And yeah, the purpose of the vehicle is for overlanding, not much off roading :)
don't use the masking type for the labeling. The wording will gone very fast.
Same way we going g thru.. I just done my restoration and soundproofing by own last year.
Haha yes. Those labels are temporary. I'll replace them with something more durable and lasting eventually!
Subscribed!!!!awesome video…LandCruiser fans here from Land Below The Wind…

Indeed. I'm glad he has been so patient with me! Lots more to learn from him :)
The rust on the ceiling still remain there, improper removal. Should apply sandpaper to de-rust ( or using power brush) the surface, clean until bare metal appeared follow by applying coating.
I guess we didn't have the chance to do a proper clean up! Will have to live with it. But thanks for your input!
Jun, I had a 1984 FJ 60 and finally sold it after 20 years. I still miss that truck. Always wanted the diesel motor. But in the US it was not an option. I will eagerly wait for each episode of the transformation. Best!
Aww I believe you miss your truck deeply. Thanks for watching!
It is time to spend!! The ceiling rust removal may be more effcient with sand paper perhaps... The red car that you cut your insulation is a gem... a LC40!!
Yep it's a BJ40! Sifu has an affinity towards old Toyota LCs. And yes, sandpaper would have made it easier lol
Wow...its realy good if we as the owner getting involve on our own vehicle restroration project...so we will know our "baby" very well
