Great video Mark!! Thanks for taking the time to see what we're all about. We have a lot of cool things in the works and will continuously work to improve our software... We know we have lots left to do.
Wanted to address the common concern here - the price. We agree, it absolutely sucks having to charge this much. Every single transmission goes through several AI services providing different aspects of the "magic" behind SayIntentions. These AI services cost us money every time someone talks.
We prefer our customers to focus on flying, not getting charged every time they press that ptt button, so we opted for a subscription method to make things easy and straightforward. Unfortunately, a one time purchase for software like this is impossible.
We're 100% committed to lowering our price as AI services get cheaper. Thanks for understanding and would love for y'all to try for yourself before making judgements 😁
Love your work, and i dont think 30 bucks is wrong. There has been great development the last weeks and i think this addon for msfs is super awesome! Looking forward to see whats coming up next 👍😁 and of course the taxi clearance 👍👍

I don't know how many others are in the same boat, but I'm a casual simmer. I'd like to get good at ATC interactions, but I simply don't know where to start. It would be cool if SayIntentions teamed up with someone who offers an ATC course or tutorial series to help people become competent in radio communications. If I had a baseline of knowledge, $30/month would probably sound like a good idea in order to improve competency.

Mark, This is a great advance, for me, I have been reluctant to interact with SIM flight controllers, why I am not sure. I think it is about being wrong, we senior citizen simmers are often concerned about not knowing the correct procedure. In the same vein, I have not joined group flights. I know there is no penalty for doing it wrong, but some of our fellow simmers are not so forgiving when confronted with a rookie or uninformed simmer, so I have worked hard to avoid that on-air frustration. I am looking forward to working with this new advance in our hobby. In addition, thank you for your dedication to the hobby and your work to keep us informed. You have made my time in MSFS much more enjoyable. Keep up the outstanding work.
Absolutely the best experience you can have right now. As an IFR-Pilot I see the finetuning done on an almost hourly basis, the integration of Navigraph data and the "awareness" of the AI regarding SIDs/STARs is really coming close to a real experience. When traffic integration is done and the price level is adjusted I have no doubts that all other competitors on the market are out of business.
Beyond ATC will be a great competitor too I'm sure.
signed up for the 24 hrs.. Loved it! Runways in use in MSFS do not always line up with the runways AI-I is telling me, but after declaring an emergency and requesting the runway actually in use by MSFS was enough to get clearance :-) Very very promising software!
Ugh runway/taxi stuff is such a nightmare in MSFS haha. We have made HUGE progress but so much more to come. Thanks for trying it out and for the kind words!
I've really been enjoying using it for about four weeks, and it has got so much better in that time. I had it announce the change of active runway when I was inbound, so that I had to do some quick thinking, which was a lot of fun.
Love that SayIntentions and BATC are competing for a similar space in the Sim environment. Guessing that over time one will win out based on function and cost. This should be win for the sim community.
They are in the same space, but fundamentally they are different products that will appeal to different simmers. BeyondATC is a fantastic program and cost effective, likely to suit the vast majority of simmers. It is using AI for voices only, the program itself is scripted in the traditional way. SI.AI will offer greater variety, realism and accuracy being able to respond to the ‘’now’’. There is a place in our community for both 😊 in my opinion.
Why doesnt SayIntentionsAI also have a "lite" version that is not fully AI powered and behaves like BATC. That way they can avoid the high subscription cost and get more people signed up, and as those users crave for more realism, they can upgrade to the full experience?

It does sound good but the cost seems to be a drawback for most of us. I'm waiting for BeyondATC which has a better pricing option for some of us.

This is pretty awesome. I'm holding my breath that someone does a similar application to provide both JTAC and AIC comms in DCS World
VATSIM is free, but I am nowhere near the level of expertise in both flying the aircraft and communication in order to use VATSIM.
But I can use SayIntentions and the level of immersion is unbelievably high.
The rate of improvement of the program is astronomic and I am learning as I go.
For me it is worth every penny I choose to spend.
Vatsim is restricted... Very few airspaces and mostly used by teenagers flying airliners.. good luck there to practice your real VFR flight with ATC there...

May be not the part about teenage thing but certainly the sad reality that is so limited in term of availability than my thought is that Vatsim has never been a good answer for the immersion we, simmers, try to have during the flights we want to do at any moment.
For one thing, it's easy to understand this AI voice. The people on VatSim seem to be in a speed-talking contest to see who speak the fastest.

Among other problems with that network, people using Vatsim try too much to sound like pros. Like someone who want to look like a Doctor by writing a way no one understand.
Another excellent review Mark! Thank you for reviewing my new favorite MSFS addon! This is an absolute game changer for serious simmers who have longed for a dynamic ATC that can handle both VFR and IFR flights! By using AI for all the logic and the voices, SI is a step ahead of anything available for our favorite sim. Using AI in this way is expensive but it looks like the developer is dedicated to bringing the subscription price down as the AI products he’s using trend downward in price.
In the meantime we get to enjoy some truly immersive sessions! And it’s great to see that traffic injection is on the near term roadmap! I strongly urge everyone to give the demo a try; I think most will be hooked!

Hi Mark - I grabbed this last night - thanks for your video (which was the tipping point for me). Even saw you on and using it (within the sayintentions live map) - maybe you were making your next video! Not perfect like you said but the extra level of immersion is next level great. Also makes the cockpit life more interesting hearing the other chatter.
ATC is the one thing that hasn’t materially improved since FSX was released. The AI ATC is such a massive leap forwards. But the price needs to come down which hopefully won’t take too long as AI matures a bit.
Actually atc code was just copied across from FSX to msfs. They finally made some very minor improvements a year ago after people were screaming at the forums. And then left it behind again
I don't remember there being goofy altitude changes and no vectoring into the pattern but maybe I am wrong.

Yes, I've been using this since release and it's fantastic. I was planning on seeing what BeyondATC is all about because the traffic in addition would just make it complete but I will be holding off on BeyondATC as they just announced they are releasing without traffic functionality which takes away the excitement for me. Happy to hear traffic is under development for SayIntentions!
I am also a subscriber to SayIntentions, the immersion is incredible real AI not scripted responses like BATC. Yes it is expensive but SayIntenstions is on another level compared to BATC.

They are doing so because they ran a poll in their Discord among users to see if people wanted it as just IFR for now, or wait until the traffic injection was completed. The overwhelming response was to release as is now as an early adopter version and add the traffic injection later as the work on that progresses which is already well along the development path.
It is also a set price of $30 dollars with 'basic' voices (which are really good by the way and there are a ton of them), with an option to buy premium voices when and if people want it.
So $30 and you can use it as much as you like with no additional cost at all unless you want the premium voices option. Those premium voices are just that, there is no loss just using the basic ones which as I said sound good anyway and the functionally is the same.
Now compare that one off price of $30 to this which is $30 a month or $300 a year!
I know which I will be buying!

I'm also a SI subscriber and I like it a lot. What BeyondATC will do better (based on what I've seen) is ensure a proper readback. SI doesn't validate your readbacks which defeats the purpose of ATC (if you wan to fly realistically).

I had the impression that the english accent did not respect the region involved in your video perhaps it will be in future development. Especially in Europe but not only there are a lot of different english accents.

It's interesting they recognise airfield NAMES -- even lesser known ones -- as opposed to ICAO codes.
Reminds me of FSX default ATC in that respect.

As someone who started this hobby as a teen on my C64, this is the level of ATC that I've been wishing for over four decades! Not flying IRL as much these days, this would fill that void and keep me from getting too rusty, lol. Not a big fan of Vatsim,,etc and Pilot Edge doesn't cover the East Coast USA. My only issue is how infrequently I use MSFS as compared to DCS WORLD. 95% of my sim time is in DCS. However, this is very impressive, and I wish you guys much success! Hats off to you for some incredible work, even at this stage of development!

Damn this sounds great. Iam waiting for beyond atc early access. If not out by this month then i will try this for sure. I wonder what are the negatives so far of this service. By the sound of your video this sounds like a must have. Little expensive though

Again a great video from your side! In context of ATC performances, AI in MSFS will certainly will make the simulator more realistic for any flight planning and also bring an interesting learning curve as to our communication skills. However the purchase (subscription) costs (monthly/yearly) are a bit too much, .....and unrealistic?

Ive been using this BETA for some months now and I love the conversational feel with the ATC.
This product is great and will impress. I’ve been using it for over a month and it adds so much value and immersion . Price may be an issue for some but the value created will leave you glad to see what you paid for is very much realized!

I tried SIAI about a month ago. Something I want to know if it has changed is if ATC sometimes will say no to your requests now? Before the ATC would always do what you asked for even if it was obviously stupid stuff. That made me think that this program wont help me point out the real mistakes I make which is something I want.
Yes it now will say no to some of your requests.
Sounds ok but those IFR clearances are not correct for UK phraseology but the constant switching was a good test.

I would be interested in how they handle grass roots flying at small airfields and strips. Also how regional variations are implimented (UK CAP413 for example)
VFR is our bread and butter! SI was originally launched as VFR only to accommodate that gap in simming! Regarding regional variations, many are modeled and are being added all the time. We have at least two "UK experts" on the team who do nothing but custom UK and EU area procedures to maximize that immersion!

Trialled it a while ago, and i agree its just wow (and its no doubt come a long way since then). If im honest id subscribe it in a heart beat sadly though i just cant justify the cost to myself (and that is in no way a criticism of the guys at SayIntentions, its not a cheap product in terms of costs im sure) . Its an absolutely amazing product and very different to BeyondATC, although think ill be going down the BeyondATC route.
Great video as always Mark. This looks and sounds very impressive. It will all come down to pricing. For me, it's too much. I like the idea of a free trial, but 24 hours isn't long enough - if they made it a week, I'd give it a go to see if I can justify the monthly sub. I'll wait for B-ATC to become live before I commit.

I’ve said this before. There is no way I could justify this in Australia. $30 USD is just under $50 AUD. That would equate to nearly $600 a year for this. It looks brilliant but until these costs come down to something remotely affordable like under a third of that price, I won’t even be considering it.
Finally, Bob and Mary can take a break after been the only ATC employees worldwide on MSFS 2020.
This product sounds amazing and it seems development is coming along nicely. However, I think it's still too pricey for (probably) most flight-simmers. Maybe the technology will become more affordable in time.

Thank you Mark- I am interested and will examine SIAI carefully as a viable ATC solution. Not too crazy about the current 'lack' of ATC for IFR approaches though- especially since I fly exclusively in jet airliners :(. Hoping they get that sorted sooner rather than later! Also they brought my B737/M in much too high for a visual approach forcing a go-around at KSNA (John Wayne Airport, Santa Ana CA). Visibility was not ideal and I had to do a go around. I think their guidance for landings & approaches is a major stumbling block notwithstanding the pricing. For what they charge, PilotEdge is a much better fit. I would be interested in being a permanent Beta Tester (no salary, no cost to me) if they offered such. Would love to share my thoughts with them. ALSO, Mark what brand headset are you using in THIS video? I think it's "wireless" and that looks WONDERFUL to me. Please drop me a message or reply here if you would so I can look into getting one! My Logitech wired headset is super but awkward and tangles up with my flight controls :( Thanks Mark!

Do they offer a 'recharging stand' similar to fast-charging for Cellphones where you need not plug a physical wire into the headset during recharging? Thanks for telling me which model... their 'top' model is a bit pricey. Did you consider any other headset brands prior to getting this? Any word on when the Honeycomb Alpha Pro might release? Desperate for hall-effect sensors, have the 'base' Alpha yoke. Overall it's OK but would like more finesse when landing my 737. Finally, I experience a bit of wander during taxiing and takeoff/landing with the Thrustmaster Pendulum Rudder set in MSFS 2020. Any thoughts? I am frustrated as it was a bit expensive and I have had high hopes... it seems to have a very slight pull to the left won't stay on the centerline during taxiing... checked brakes and tires... no issues AFaIk. Tried increasing dead zones and reducing sensitivity. Again... no joy. Cheers.

It is already available, but it's $29.95 a month or $299.95 a year, then you may have Navigraph over and above. For me, Beyond ATC is a better option for price alone.
Will this become adapted for DCS as well??? If there was a reason to implement ai over human, it would definitely be ATC. I can have AI repeat "say again" several times w/o ruffling any feathers or taking up any one person's time when AI could act as several controllers at one time, talking to multiple flights simultaneously vs one person becoming task saturated. This is definitely the Future of aviation and if some could tell me the funds trickle into further r&d towards that end, I'd have no choice but to open my wallet for access to the real world implementation of this application. @@andy70d35 There is no comparison Sayintentions is on another level as compared to BATC. Scripted responses is the killer for me. Yes Sayintentions is expensive but hopefully with time it will get more affordable.

Question for the real pilots out there: I understand from Navigraph the transition altitude at EGPH is 6000'. At 4m12s the re-clearance for Fort Augustus is given "After departure climb and maintain 8000". Shouldn't that be "...climb and maintain FL080"?

The ATC sounds different in my flight sim since two days, very realistic and no longer like a generic Windows 7 AI text-to-voice generator but like a German trying to speak English. This is fascinating, has this something to do with these new ATC programs? Was some of this implemented in the default vanilla sim?
I never before had realistic ATC voices in the sim now even offline the speech sounds fully natural. Awesome!

@@theogeorgiades The default ATC. I had internet problems two days ago with the net shutting down for an hour or so, and for an unknown strange reason this changed the ATC voices in the flight sim. The ATC sounded natural and good like these high-quality TH-cam AI voices that read audiobooks, and no longer like these always same two or three different generic text-to-speech default voices that are constantly in use for everything from ATIS to radio. That was interesting, I did not know that flight simulator ATC is even functional offline. Some tower not only had a better more natural voice but also spoke with a German fake-accent, that was the most fascinating part, because normally there is no accent at all no matter what airport is used but always the same generic tower ATC voices world wide.
I will try the sim offline today for a second time only to listen listen if the ATC changes again (for the better!) :)

@dieternussbumer5568 All else being equal, perhaps you can make the decision on price.
SayIntentions suffers from a very long latency between issuing a request and getting a response. So I don’t think that it will be that satisfying to use.
@@FrancoisDanielscurrently at 8 seconds! A metric we track VERY closely. It’s down 30% in mere weeks. Goal is under 5 seconds which is on par with real world.

What about the handling of traffic if you use AIG/FSLTL?
Any regional accents?
The traffic will be seen and you will be given an alert to look for them, report in sight, etc. It does not sequence the traffic. That is a limitation of MSFS/FSLTL and not SI. We are working on our own traffic injection coming later this quarter hopefully! RE: regional accents; accents and dialects have been a surprising challenge with our AI voice techniques, but we have made solid progress and it's very important to deliver that!
Patiently, waiting for the some update 15 so that I can try this. Since the last update, my Sim has completely broken. None of the aircraft are flyable.
be very careful with it, the dev team are not coders and that may explain why it is so slow and buggy.
Recently got Pilot2ATC, how does this compare in what you can and can't do?
pilot2atc is good, beyond atc will be better.
I am looking forward to trying this but how does it work in VR? Is there a FS2020 in game menu, for example? How do you toggle to use the menu in VR or is that not available?

It certainly is a great bit of software, but I agree it is too expensive for me to justify.
I'm currently on the beta team for vox atc, hopefully this will gain interest once it's out.
I had vox atc in fsx and p3d and I loved using it.
Hopefully the msfs version will be even better than the older versions once it's complete.

It is not, unfortunately. This is a MSFS connection thing, and not a decision SI has made. Just isn't possible!
Does it replace the default atc system? Do the AI planes interact and follow the orders? Or is it just for the user?
We recommend turning OFF all MSFS related ATC options when using SI. No, it does no sequence traffic, because the traffic in the game is not telling MSFS where it's going or what it's doing. This is a MSFS limitation, not a SI choice. To combat this, in Q2 or Q3 we are launching our own traffic injection software which WILL interact with traffic and you!
We also have a multiplayer option where you can hear and see all other Say Intentions pilots!

This is very exciting. I have been using Pilot2ATC for four or five years now and have always been puzzled why X-Plane and MSFS have chosen to stick with ridiculous menu based ATC. I was using menu-based-ATC in Flight Unlimited 2 and that was 25 YEARS AGO!! I love P2A but it has never really progressed much. New blood in this area is great news. Thank you so much Mark!
It would be nice if the new ATC program would have the controllers voice in the regional dialect for each country!
Coming soon! Dialects have been a surprising challenge with our AI voice techniques, but we have made solid progress and it's very important to deliver that!
Is there anyone who tried S.I. in combination with FSLTL? It said on their website that S.I. will be aware of the presence of other injected aircrafts in flight and advises you accordingly. I believe it if they say it but what about on the ground or with another aircraft on the runaway? Is S.I. will tell you to hold short or deny landing when it happens?
I know it will provide traffic advisories, accuracy is reasonable but not precise, but it does not control or interact with the AI traffic at this point.
If it ever gets to where it can control the AI traffic, I'll be all in.

Good to hear that! For the time being, I‘m fine with random chatter - still learning the ropes, and it is quite a handful to fly my plane, navigate and communicate (correctly) with ATC. If one day AI traffic is controlled by SI, well: even better…

It will have a limited customer base. Some people won't be able to afford another expensive subscription each month for a game.

You can use speakers and traditional microphones. I use Corsair Vengeance wireless.

Products like this will not be for all due to the costs, but at the end of the day, if you can afford it, it looks/sounds great, so go for it, if you can't, then well just don't use it. I'll certainly give it a go when it comes out, because as mentioned below, the overall default ATC service is very weak, but I would prefer to have the traffic integrated.

I've had it for a month, I only have used it for IFR. Its ok but far from polished, it's left me annoyed many times. I probably won't renew after the one month
I use SI for two weeks now, and it has really transformed the way I fly! Yes, it is expensive, but hopefully the developers will follow through with their promise to lower the subscription as prices for AI services drop. The lag between transmissions is absolutely no problem for me, I totally forget about that between the busy tasks of aviating, navigating and communicating…
Agreed, adds to the realism for me, often quicker than Vatsim 😂
After a 40 minute trial flight I have just signed up. It's one of those flight simulation game changers that only comes along every few years. It's not cheap but you can certainly see what you are getting for your money.

I wholeheartedly agree! Frankly I was beginning to get a bit bored with MSFS until I subscribed to the Say Intentions beta! Now every flight is 10 times more interesting and the immersion is unparalleled!
Not to mention that AI costs, like all technology costs, will decrease with increasing usage, developments, and economies of scale.
Impressive how it handled you asking it to say Hi to yourself in the tower; That's the sort of thing you might expect to completely throw it off the rails, but it handled it perfectly.
For someone studying for their PPL, I can immediately see the value. I've spent allot on my sim, but still unsure if it's for me. Understand that access to Ai servers is not cheap, so may just give it a go and see.
Actually, right now, it'd be a bad idea to use this for PPL preparation. The software is still unfinished and very hit-and-miss when it comes to correct procedures and phraseology. That's good enough for immersion, but can do more harm than good when you're trying to learn how to do things properly. This may well change in the future, though - it's still under rapid active development, after all.
Asobo/MS in theory should have capability to give us AI ATC in MSFS2024, a showcase for the power of MS AI, I’m still expecting to be deeply disappointed

Not all people in Scotland are Scottish! Lol Plus having the licence to be an ATC, you have to go down to England for the training. So limited people only pass.

It doesn't. BeyondATC is far more reasonable and better.
It is fundamentally different. BeyondATC is a great program, but it is scripted and thus limited in what it can respond to, it uses AI for voice only. There is room for both in our hobby.
@@kiotee_nouw Prices are equivalent, Beyond ATC is probably even more expensive if use premium voices and fly a lot. Its just SI offer unlimited use for a monthly suscribtion while BATC makes you pay as you use it. Regarding the performance and which is better, well, there us absolutely no way to say that BATC is better since its not even release and you just saw video of it. What I can say after weeks of SI use is that it makes daily improvement. Litteraly, everyday there is an update. I just fly IFR, and its absolutely not perfect FOR NOW. But its rapidely improving and I have no doubt it will become flawless and the same as what you can expect on vatsim in a few months. Traffic Injection is an other subject, and like for BATC, we will have to wait and see. Regarding immersion though, I dont think you can beat SI since its an IA and you can literally say what you want to the ATC, and it will always answer and react in a realistic way.

@@kiotee_nouw You have no clue by saying BATC is better than SayIntenstions. Sayintensions is on another level when comparing it to BATC. With AI, the the interaction is like talking to a real human. BATC is scripted responses. If price is your negativity on SayIntentions then I understand but don't spread bull about it being better because it simply is not and never will because it doesn't USE AI!!

I have tried SI off and on over several months just to keep track of it. There's been lots of progress, but IMHO, this is not it. At least not yet.
Flying almost everyday then $30 is good value at less than a dollar a flight. For me flying once or twice a month I’d need a different access model.

At 30 dollars a month or 300 Dollars a year seems excessive if you take into account the upcoming Beyond ATC product which is a one off payment with no recurring fees
We're super excited to see BATC launch! Two very different products for two different segments of simmers. BATC will provide an amazing IFR experience and have great voices but is not dynamically AI driven in the way SI is. SayIntentions is fully dynamic, using a highly advanced AI/LLM tech stack and constant fine tuning by the developers to compute everything in real time and provide you with an un-canned response! If you have an emergency, you can declare and get vectors to the closest airport and coordinate emergency services, or you can ask for a practice approach on a VFR flight, ask to tour a landmark, etc! ALL possible w/ SI and using an AI LLM!

I hope you will reconsider the price point to a more conservative figure to make it available for everyone to enjoy your product as BTAC have and have made it accessible to most who love playing at being a pilot.
@@DaisyDaisyFilms BATC has no recurring fees if you use standard voices. Otherwise, it will be at least the same cost as SI. And if you fly a lot with premium voices, cost will skyrocket.
@@homasas4837 That was my point, it might be really really good but it’s just too much money for most and BATC have recognised that the player base is made up of medium income players and not very wealthy people.
As a retired individual on fixed income…too expensive for everyday use.
Pro for immersion. Con for price, from the cost of all these upcoming AI ATC’s. I personally won’t pay a subscription especially at the prices. Give it a few years and AI companies will be fighting each other and no doubt costs will come down the more readily available it becomes. You’ll end up getting it free with a box of corn flakes !! I’d rather have a scripted ATC for a one of cost personally
