- How to wire low voltage thermostat wiring on a Rheem RBHP air handler. It is always important to pay attention to the wiring that you have at the air handler and what that wiring typically connects to. At the air handler Red always goes to Red, the Rheem air handler has a brown common wire. The white wire usually goes to the heat strip. The wiring schematic at the air handler door will be a very good resource to figure out where your wiring goes to. When wiring the thermostat you should be able to match your wire color to the labels on the thermostat. Always remember that wiring is color coded to make it easier for you to correctly install your thermostat and other components.
Thanks for watching!

*Used to supplement the up stairs when it gets hot outside this works very well and **Fastly.Cool** Also works good when the upstairs gets too hot in the Winter from the heater.*
David, thank you very much for your video. You are a great engineer and know how to teach regular people on how to install home thermostat. I appreciate your patient teaching us the wiring to a home thermostat.
Wow great tutorial very impressed i needed to retouch on my wiring and this brokw it down very well ty mr jones
Thanks for the video.
Hello: Not sure if this is the area to post my question to you. I have Rheem two stage communicating control board furance that was installed and according to what I have read, the installer didn't install the thermostat correctly to run both stages of the blower and heat. What I want to do, is run correct wiring from the control board to the new thermostat Honeywell wi fi model RTH6500WF. Thank you for your help.
Thank very much from Chile, great video
I installed a Nest Thermostat base model to this unit. I can get the AC to work fine, but when I turn on the heat both the A/C compressor outside and the heater inside turn on and run at the same time? I just swapped the wires as they were on the old thermostat during install of the Nest. What could I be doing wrong? It's an electric unit. Thanks
Hmm, if I shorted R and C accidentally (turned off wrong circuit breaker) on a Rheem AC, it does not recover. I do not see any visible fuse. The transformer outputs 24v. Would a tech, repair or swap out ($$$) the board? TIA
I wish my Rheem furnace's thermostat diagram was as simple as this one. My home has a Nest thermostat that isn't wired to run the gas furnace; I think it wants to use electrical emergency heat.
good vidio the only thing I seen and im sure you know this that a Rheem reversing valve energizes in heat mode so on your thermostat you would need to put your orange on B terminal instead of O on your thermostat but you had a Goodman condenser so you were right on your illustration. I just know alot of people mite not know that.
What does the O/B wire from the thermostat tie into at the unit?
if I don’t have the c wgitch is common nin my board where I put the blue wire
How to hook up a 24 volt uvc light on a rheem unit
My Rheem HPump fan keeps running on low speed when whole system is off …. No way to turn on fan only…. and during unfreeze the inside fan also runs but air is cold since heat is reversed to outside ….now, when thermostat is unplugged from the harness the fan stops…. What is going on ?
i have one and i am looking for a low voltage fuse protection or breaker for this unit it just hapenned and i am in no hurry i know it did not come with one cause i smoked the first transformer and i dont want to smoke another ,,,,,ill check with baker distributing monday the 24 th ,,,,,but i am looking at videos to see if i see a breaker in a unit ? any help would be nice , maybe ill find it quick tomorrow who knows ?
I am trying to connect the Common Wire for a new thermostat. I am having trouble finding the correct color to connect it to. It’s on a Rheem Model RBHC-14J06SFD.
Coming from up north I have little experience in these setups. Quick question. If I were to tie in float switches at the pan and the drain, where would they wire into the system you shown? I know they need to be in series, but not sure the best place to make the connections.
Thank you for the videos! My new Rheem air handler has a yellow wire included with the low voltage wires. My question is, I understand the Y from tstat goes to Y on the condenser. But with that extra yellow wire on the air handler, do I wire nut all three yellow wires together?
Did you figure it out ?
How do u hook up the thermostate to the outside unit?
Thank you
My air handler has the yellow wire. So I have 3 yellow wires (air handler, thermostat and condenser) do I connect all 3 together?
Thanks
How to hook up 24 volt uv light on rheem system
Is a place that you can look to get the schematic for the different a/c boards in a unit? I have replaced a board and wanted to follow the schematic to trouble shoot it, but I can't find the schematic. Thanks for the videos
look on line, I will do it on my website
David Jones I will try to find your site. Thanks
Mr. Jones... great video as usual...
Mr. Jones, on a Rheem air handler RBHP24j11SH4.. how do I disconnect the 10KW heat strip?... I want to use the air handler without the heat strip. I'm in the North East with gas heat and I don't have the available power to hook up 60 amps of power...
How does the nest communicate with these units ? I’ve called the Rheem Company and they say that getting a nest or any other company that makes thermostats that have a function to control humidity would not work. They say that Rheem units recently made don’t have a communication function .
I'm confused. Wouldn't the heat pump be blue on rheem?
What about i dont have a yellow wire???
The door isn’t a color code; it’s a function code. My tstat is looking for O/B.
I dont know why anyone would thumbs down this video. I have watched dozens of these to become more efficient at my work. You explain wire colors and what to look for in many other cases. Thanks for a great video!!
Mmmm kay
You didn't help a soul
