  • Airport Baggage System pushers at an international airport somewhere. How does the pusher know when to push the bag in the center without spinning it? Only those with brains in advanced technology know!

    We need these at stores for when people take too long at the register.

    As someone who worked in the Logistics industry i have to say that this is acutally a pretty gentle pusher compared to the possible weight it needs to push. First of all, the speed is needed because those intersection points are pretty narrow, if you go to slow you either miss or worse squish a suitcase, secondly who knows what kind of cargo goes by this thing? It could be a suitcase full of lead ingots or a suitcase filled with pillows. Regardless of what's inside, it needs to be pushed and it needs to be done quickly.

    Holy shit! This is the epitome of over-engineering.
    How about putting a ac-reversible conveyor belt with pistons on each end of a frame per se - to get some sweet tilt, right there between lanes?
    Well, that's just one. And there are so many systems that wouldn't require IMPULSE force, no matter what the shape, fabric and weight of the luggage!
    What the actual fuck this is!!!

    • @xbox3601194
      @xbox3601194 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Aleksandar Milic Um so you are going to implement an expensive ac motor/drive that cannot separate baggage if they are too close together? Yeah that makes sense.

    • @aleksandarmilic4424
      @aleksandarmilic4424 9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      xbox3601194 You cannot possibly imagine what I imagined, just from the words I wrote. And you cannot speculate on the system itself without a mechanical & simulation model, especially regarding the cost/effectiveness. Check the one in Barcelona, reddit has the link.
      My point being: this is ridiculous, in every aspect. No more, no less.

    • @SchoolrejecT
      @SchoolrejecT 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Aleksandar Milic All you need is a simple bar that flips out diagonally to guide the bags onto the new lane, like a railroad track switch.
      That's assuming they activate the mechanisms whenever a new flight is being loaded and not for each individual bag.

    • @conskimask

      Hmm yes because youtube comment section is the best place to spread your new innovative ideas.

    • @xbox3601194
      @xbox3601194 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aleksandar Milic Sorry honey. You cannot have an ac motor without an ac motor drive. These are expensive. You could have, however, a simple pneumatic cylinder actuated diverter bar. Much more cost effect in initial engineering and routine maintenance. You must still be in school obviously.

    I know how this works my dad who worked in an airport had a video of this first the luggage goes through an machine that scans it that machine scans for where the luggage is going then that information goes to the “punching “machine and the luggage gets punched to an place for example if your luggage is going to Canada then the machine will punch it to an line of bags that goes to Canada now in this day there are other machines that do the same but more friendly so that the luggage doesn’t break but there are people that throw your luggage really hard and if your luggage is hard plastic it will break mine broke because an employee grabbed my luggage and smashed it now it has an huge hole in it so be careful apparently you can tell the airline that your luggage broke and they are going to pay for it idk if that’s all the airlines

      Luis Matos Are you stupid?
      1) You now know how these machines operate and how they may damage your stupid $2,000 luggage. You are the only one to blame if your $2,000 luggage gets fucked up. Go take a private jet next time. if you can afford to spend $2,000 on something that only comes with you during travel that is meant to protect the contents then you can afford a private jet. Simple as that.
      2) When you park your car, there is constant variable that can damage said car, unlike the above example where there is a constant variable that may damage your property.

    • @lukesmith8229
      @lukesmith8229 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @adamarzo r u stupid!!!! TAKE A PRIVATE JET!!! WTF WHAT ODINARY PERSON HAS A FUCKING PRIVATE JET!!! Also 2,000$ is alot different from probably around 2,000,000 million dollars for the cost of a jet

    • @adamarzo559
      @adamarzo559 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Luke Smith What ordinary person spends $2,000 on luggage because it has a brand name attached to it?
      You're so young you don't even understand you can hire private jets. Also, if you can blow $2,000 on luggage you can certainly hire a private jet for your travels.

    The speed is probably for high volume times. Holiday seasons, a LOT of bags must come on there. Not fast=no bags for you.
    Also, it has to push fast because some of those bags are SUPER heavy, 90kilos or more (200+LB)

    • @TalladegaNight
      @TalladegaNight 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      any instrment, check it at the gate, that way it will go directly to the aircraft. even regular stuff mark as fragile, still goes through a belt system, just not one that beats luggage like these pushers do.

  • @WTHsquaids
    @WTHsquaids 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It looks worse than it really is... I've seen these up close, and it's basically a swing motion with a roller on the end of it. It doesn't just push it to the next belt, the roller guides it over using an arc motion. If you are sitting on the belt yourself, it'll push you over to the next belt with little to no bruising, and considering we're just bags of meat that's pretty good.

    I've always carried on. I don't understand the insane packing most people do. A small backpack, properly packed can easily sort you out for 2 weeks.
    Don't pack toiletries, that will save a ton of space for a start. Get one of the travel towels which compress to nothing. Beyond that just pick stuff you know that you will wear. Also consider whether it's worth taking certain things, such as flip flops when you can usually pick up some cheap ones when you get there.

    • @bustaphatty
      @bustaphatty 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laughing Achilles how do you toilet with no toiletries?

    • @laughingachilles
      @laughingachilles 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      bustaphatty
      Most hotels supply them and if you're in the ultra budget places then when you land the airports sell them on the way out. Packing them is a waste of space.

    • @2dreamy
      @2dreamy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laughing Achilles Well most airports don't allow you to put many items into the carry on. Razors for shaving, liquids like sun screen and so on. Also you'll probably have more stuff with you on your way back if you want to shop, unless you're planning to buy a travel bag on every holiday.

    • @laughingachilles
      @laughingachilles 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      2dreamy
      Yeah that just reinforces my point.

    • @2dreamy
      @2dreamy 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Laughing Achilles I don't think you interpreted my comment correctly. I'm saying if you're only gonna bring a carry on there are lots of things they won't allow you to pack that you might need. More importantly most people will carry more stuff with them on their way home from a holiday due to shopping and such which would be hard to fit into a carry on. You could buy a bag during your trip but it'd be a waste to do that for every holiday.

  • @TalladegaNight
    @TalladegaNight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    if y'all know how a baggage room works, you would see this is the only way for it to work effluence. if you don't want stuff to break, don't check it, take it in carry one. If you have to check it, check it at the gate, or put it as fragile.

    or was the 'missed' case destined to be 'lost luggage' ?

    • @SomeGuysGarage
      @SomeGuysGarage 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Late reply...they have things called "ATRs" or automatic tag readers. They have usually 10-18 or so scan heads all around the conveyor that pick up the tag no matter which way it faces. Then the bag is tracked via photo eyes (light break sensors) attached to the conveyors and communicating with the PLCs, so it knows where they are and can push the right bag to the right spot at the right time.
