  • This is a detailed install of my AEM 30-0300 install X series wideband. I've had several issues preventing me from getting my car tuned, and the biggest one has been a failing wideband unit. I'm happy to say that the new AEM unit reads extremely accurate and has allowed me to continue the tuning process on my 2007 GT500.

    Excellent video describing the entire process. I love how detailed you are. I'm guessing that your career is technical if not engineer.

      Thanks, I appreciate it. I've definitely gotten more technical oriented over the years for sure.

    Nicely done :) But, PLEASE do not start the engine, once the wideband has "warmed up" the sensor. The sensor element is made of ceramic. And, it "warms up" to about 1450°F !. Hitting a glowing hot ceramic strip with cold(relatively)/wet start-up exhaust is the #1 killer of wideband sensors.

      Good to know, thanks

      means need to warm up engine first before turn on the wideband?

      @@azlandbp2444 Just a few seconds will do it, Let the sensor start warming up, while the engine is already running.

    TLDR; grab all those focking grounds and wire nut that $h!t together. Thank you for this. I’ve been banging my head all day trying to understand how to connect 2 wires to the SCT.

    Good video! AEM makes great products. In aviation, all wiring connections are crimped, not soldered, for exactly the reasons you stated.

    Could you have just run an obd2 adapter that allows 2 obd2 devices plugged in at the same time?
    I’m watching you video because the SCT side of wiring is vague and I see lots of people not getting the correct data displayed for AFR in their datalogs on mustang forums. Hopefully you’re video clears this up for me as well.

      I definitely could have run an OBDII splitter, and may still in the future to let me log and still have a functional Aero Force gauge. Honestly I don't think it occurred to me at the time.

    Might be a stupid question but if I have a tune that turns the rear O2 sensors off, could I just use that bung to stick an AFR sensor there and cap off the old rear O2? This way another hole is not needed.

      I don't see why not

      Late, but you can. Ideally you want the sensor as close to the headers as possible, but so long as it’s not 8 miles away then it’s fine

    Now did you connect every ground to a chassis ground or did you only do that with the dedicated grounds?

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Every ground went to a single point on the body. Honestly it doesn't really matter, ground is ground.

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  ปีที่แล้ว

      Literally in my diagram. SCT orange to AEM white. Blue to ground.

      @@jonnyvargas9394 I found a bolt that went to the body of the car (ground) and ran the AEM black and brown wires to it. They can all go to the same point, it doesn't matter.
