Steven Dick, who is an editor of Tactical Knives Magazine (with a great set of credentials in both the military and as a professional outdoorsman) took a great deal of time and applied his years of experience to design a true multipurpose camp/outdoor knife.
In an article in Tactical Knives Magazine, the author wrote:
"The knife is ideal for what it is designed to be: an all-purpose back-country tool. Used the Pasayten to split kindling, prepare every dinner for 10 nights, cut bannock at lunch, cleaned fish and cut line, it found its way into many hands and was the knife of choice when a job was to be done. The Pasayten is a no last-ditch survival knife, yet is stout enough to split kindling yet delicate enough to fillet fish. TOPS sheath has a swivel belt clip which offers the option of horizontal carry, perfect for a 200 pound stern man. All purpose, practical and ultimately useful knives that truly work!"
The Pasayten Light Traveler features 154 CM stainless steel with a tactical gray finish. The blade has a full flat grind with a moderately wide profile. The black linen Micarta scales are fastened with hollow brass pins and a lanyard tube. A Kydex sheath with rotating spring clip is included.
    Knife Spec's:
    Knife Type Fixed Blade
    Overall Length 10.00"
    Blade Length 5.25"
    Cutting Edge 4.88"
    Blade Thickness 0.130"
Blade Steel 154cm RC 58-60 Cryo Treated
    Blade Finish Tactical Gray
    Handle Material Black Linen Micarta
    Knife Weight 10 oz
    Sheath Included Yes
    Sheath Material Black Kydex
    Sheath Clip Rotating Spring Steel

One of the most underrated knifes ever! I’ve had mine years now and use it every week in the kitchen. It’s been on camping/hiking trips with me and yes it is not a do it all survival knife but out of all of my knives it’s the one I keep coming back to and enjoy using.

Just a few years ago 154 CM was a "super steel". It is a great knife steel, though I prefer 3/16" blades. Tops consistently makes very functional, good looking knives. My Bob knife is one of my favorites. The Pasayten is a great looking knife. Thanks for showing it. Love your channel.

This is the review that sold me on the Pasayten. The knife is a total winner. I’d list this as the knife everyone should own and use every day.

Does crushed pine cone really make a good tinder? Will it take a spark from a ferro rod? I've never tried that, but seems like it would be quick and helpful when I'm up in the Flagstaff area.

Great review! I'm typically a high carbon steel kind of guy, but I've been looking at getting a stainless knife that's not a Mora Garberg. (Nothing against the Garberg; it's just a little small for what I have in mind.) I've also been looking at the Buck 124 Frontiersman. Decisions, decisions....

Does it have a 90 degree spine?

  • @bushcraft_in_the_north
    @bushcraft_in_the_north 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Normally no one is using the grip on the knife to break things down, like the pine cown. They use a stick or a stone. It is also alot safer in a survival situation, when you are cold and hungry.I dont belive in safe queens eather, but is use my knives as knives, not hammers So it really does not matter. I know you are doing it to show the knife, but just saying;-) Nice knife by the way,and nice climate. Here in Norway we have lots of snow and -11 celsius right now where i live. So not so cold, but i must live in the wrong country. I dont like snow at all. We got to much off the bad weather and not much good weather at all.
