My favorite TOPS knife since the Tanimboca Puukko. I love everything about it: good leverage, weight distribution, blade shape and grind, and the handle is great for my hands. It'll take down 3" limbs fairly easy. My LT Wright Switchback is still my go-to for general use, but the Brush Wolf lives in my pack for heavy duty stuff.
Aaron. Just wanted to let you know I purchased the Brush Wolf, based on your review, and can not wait to use this thing. I also purchased the Tops Nata as well. Maybe a review on the Tops Nata? Between the Brush Wolf and the Nata I can get most bushcraft chores done. I also use a hori hori by Dalstrong for digging. A hand chain saw for larger work. I am hoping to round out my bushcraft blades with the Tops High Impact. So thank you for the review on the Brush Wolf. It is one bad ass blade. Love that Nessmuck style look. I am a sucker for that. Will probably purchase the Joker Nesmuck flat grind for food prep.
Great review, wish it was posted sooner, bought a brush wolf about a month ago, very happy with it. Before buying I had to check for reviews, found 1 or 2, but your review pretty much hit the questions I had at the time, what can I say I like your opinion on blades and equipment. Appreciate your work.
Awesome review. I’ve been looking at this one since they released. But I was nervous about that handle being to thin or just uncomfortable. Thanks man now it’s my cart ready to go
I have added the Brush Wolf to my collection several months ago. It is a unique knife that is very capable of almost any task that I use a knife blade for. It is very well made and the sheath is great. The handle ergonomics are unique on this blade. The handle works well for this blade. The handle will work well for medium and large hand grips. I have used it with large size work gloves and it worked well. The thickness of the knife steel gives it some heft and rigidity. I find that the 1095 carbon steel sharpens up great. I am a big fan of Tops Knives. I like that they are made in America. All of the Tops knives that I have purchased have always been "Top" quality knives. Thank you for your review. I have purchased many Tops Knives over the years because of "Gideons Tactical" reviews.
this is one of the very few knives I actually like and want from tops I really like everything about it as far as what I can tell from only seeing videos and pics of it. I hope to pick one up soon. great video as always Arron hope I spelled your name right.
The Sound effects you used to describe the shape of the blade was the best part of the video! Love your vids and the channel. Keep up the awesome work!
Men I see the video and the tears starting to fall with a smile on my face. I made a knife years ago a little bigger than the tops. 1/4 inch thick 5160 steel. It was a gift for a great friend. He is very happy looking the video on your TH-cam channel too. If you send me a mail address I can send you the pictures of the knife and testing in the south America jungles. Hand made knife. Thanks for share the video Saludos Amigo
Thanks Aaron for your great review of this blade. It looks like the old butcher knives my grandparents had on the farm. I'm sure it will be a highly functional piece of gear.
Thanks for the video, I was looking for the knife, but my thoughts were similar to yours - great blade design but kind of narrow handle for me. So, not in this time, maybe they will work on it in the future... FM
Thanks Aaron. I'm really fascinated about what you said regarding the coating, especially how it held up in Florida. I usually stay away from 1095, precisely because I'm in hot humid, and salty conditions all the time.
I live on the coast, and prefer 1095 even when I’m diving down in the ocean. Although my favorite steel would be AEB-L. O1 is also good. As long as you maintenance your kit, you shouldn’t have any issues with rust.
I bought the knife. After two days I have a first impression. The design of the blade is ingenious. In my opinion, the handle design should be revised. In the form it feels strange and tiring when working for a long time.
Looks great! Does it compare to a Condor mini Duku to you? But with a straight spine? I can see a lot of similarities en the edge and it behavior. The finger choil is what I am missing on the Duku though. Great knife
My favourite machete from Tops is the yacare 10.0 the one you have looks nice and light but the handle looks off but maybe it’s for different handling?
First tops knife I've seen for awhile. Idk if it's just me, but what happened to tops recently? I've barely heard any news from them or any new models released in the last year. I know they had quite a few to be released but I never see them for sale anywhere and half the time most of their knives are out of stock everywhere besides a few
I've been patiently waiting for the storm vector to come in stock somewhere anywhere, i finally have the funds to buy an its not available anywhere, prolly never will be
Almost in the feature range of their mid-sized Tom Brown Trackers, but with the multi-utility handle positions. Thanks for this post - well done as always!...and yeah, unfortunately like so much else these days, these are not available quite yet.
A very interesting knife indeed. Yes, the handle looks a bit on the thin side. I would love to see a side by side comparison with the Earth Skills knife. I know that these two are quite different, but they do carry certain similarities and would be very interesting to see where these overlap in use and where each of them is better / more suited.
Really liking the look of that. Great review. Jokes to one side would be interested on your view of the handles on the Steel Eagle with your large sized hands. Love the look of it but not a massive fan of Tops handles.
Just received mine It is one of those grail knives Aesthetically appealing Multi utilitarian- many features Sizable- not too large or small I do not regret its purchase.
The blade should be 2-3" longer. I hate the handle, give it a handle with a gentle curve , like the esee 6hm. My favorite Tops is the BOB 3.5. The best nesmuk is made by Brisa.
A machete worth 20 dollars, works better. To many backyard buscraft . I lived in central America jungle and never a fancy knife is needed. That type of knife is good to be put in a wall display and keep it there.
Honestly, most knives by tops are just glorified wall hangers. Sure they could work, but at the price they charge i would always still just use my tramontagne machete or my 50 dollar skrama.
I’m still waiting for the Longhorn Bowie to restock. Been waiting since your last video on that blade. Hope your links will still work when they return...
“Been in the works around 2 years”. Looks just like Chris tanners jessmuk. Wish companies would drop the “designing for x many years” line and admit to being inspired/ copying someone’s design. Tops tends to do this with many of their blades.
Great review as always. I actually like that knife. I still have about 15 I’ve bought in the last year and a half that I haven’t even tried out yet. I’ll have to pass at this point. I love your reviews though very informative.
G'day Aaron, more of an algorithm comment this time around. Like the blade and sheath, but yeah that handle looks too thin for my liking. Still, it's interesting and thanks for showing it. Cheers Duke.
Those 2 guys are not the original designers the original design was 5/16 thick with a full flat grind had a crusher on the handle the finger guard had drop to it behind the finger choil
The handles of knife companies are often a bad ergonomic design. It seems that these designers never used knives to work in the field. And the simplest handles are the most effective ones like Mora or Fallkniven.
Looks like a great knife but the appearance doesn't resonate with me, kind of looks like a Tactical Banana (contact me for copyright on that term, TOPS). I wish TOPS would make more of their great designs of yesteryear. Is it just me or does it seem like they only make a model for a year or so and then it's gone forever. The Apache Dawn or U.S. Combat knife need to back on the market.
Hey, yes im one of the designers and my self and my brother nate both have xl hands. We thinned the handle out because we were concerned about the weight. We are both backpackers, so we wanted it to be beefy but light.......
Very nice design, I like it. It reminds me of Chris Tanner’s Jessmuck.
Gideon's Tactical Saw Noises...Patent Pending 😉
You know it!!
My favorite TOPS knife since the Tanimboca Puukko. I love everything about it: good leverage, weight distribution, blade shape and grind, and the handle is great for my hands. Been looking at this as my first tops purchase.
Finally!!! I’ve been waiting for this review forever. I love this thing….and almost everything tops makes. Just wish the handle was a smidge wider.
Great review, wish it was posted sooner, bought a brush wolf about a month ago, very happy with it. Glad you enjoyed the video and it helped.
No need to worry, Tops Knifes are like sharpened pry bars, that blade can wedge a refrigerator, and pry open an exterior door to a home.
I have the bob bushcraft this one looks like a new knive for me now

Love this video I have watched several times and finally after 2 yrs of waiting and deciding I ordered one I can’t wait to get Outdoor’s this summer.
Hope you enjoy it!
How many times am I allowed to make the statement "this is the last knife I'm buying"?
Hahaha
Forever
Have been making that same statement my last 3 knives, keeps the old ball and chain off guard 🤣
Knives are like fishing gear. It's never ending and you can never have enough
Well over 1200 times for me (& counting)… 😳
this is one of the very few knives I actually like and want from tops I really like everything about it as far as what I can tell from only seeing videos and pics of it.
I hope to pick one up soon.
great video as always Arron hope I spelled your name right.
Love the looks of the brush wolf and great review
Great review. I would really consider this as a higher end option for my adventure kit
The Sound effects you used to describe the shape of the blade was the best part of the video! Love your vids and the channel. Keep up the awesome work!
Just received the Tops Mountain Lion knife today. I'm in Love ❤️ 😍
God bless you. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you. Please keep it up. 😊

I love the idea of the scales going all the way to the finger choil after the finger guard... We NEED more handles like that. Such a great idea 💡
TOPS Knives... Reminds me when you (Aaron) reviewed the Silent Hero a few years back. The material, design, fit and finish. Love it.
Thanks Aaron for your great review of this blade. It looks like the old butcher knives my grandparents had on the farm. I'm sure it will be a highly functional piece of gear.
TOPS Stryker Defender Tool review would be cool too! Not many good reviews online...
Nice review!!
Thanks for the video, I was looking for the knife, but my thoughts were similar to yours - great blade design but kind of narrow handle for me. So, not in this time, maybe they will work on it in the future... FM
Looks like the knife Aragorn used in LoTRs
I've loved the look of this since I seen it. Now that I have a trustworthy review I know I can drop my money in a good place. Thanks .
I have been considering that knife but never could catch it in. Tops is on this year though 👍. I think soon I will have to get one.
Thanks Aaron. I'm really fascinated about what you said regarding the coating, especially how it held up in Florida. I usually stay away from 1095, precisely because I'm in hot humid, and salty conditions all the time.

@@pubplays368 thanks for the word, man. I'm in the Caribbean right now and I find all kinds of steels rust if you even look at them funny! 😅
great review. I like it and we'll put on my wishlist
We appreciate the awesome job on product information you do brother 👍
Thanks so much, glad to help
Great review especially the handle
Glad that helped
Good review.
It looks like it is designed with the idea of one tool option in mind, I like it.
the handle kind of reminds me of a manix. since you love the manix, could you compare the two as far as comfort goes?
I bought the knife. After two days I have a first impression.
The design of the blade is ingenious.
In my opinion, the handle design should be revised.
In the form it feels strange and tiring when working for a long time.
Love tops knives. Own a BOB. Dont care for Nesmuck knives but something about this knife speaks to me.
Great review. Thanks again for your time to bring us all this useful information.
I've been waiting too! I'm so glad you reviewed this, Aaron. It might be my next knife, even though it hangs on the right hip.
My family gave this knife to me for Christmas. Can't wait to use it!
I've posed on this video 4 times and it's not showing! So if you see my many post, I'm not crazy! I don't know what's going on?
That’s strange🤔
Aaron Morgan makes Kydex and Leather sheaths! He's made me a bunch! He's a good dude!
Great looking knife extensive and knowledgeable review
looks like a great design that can do a lot for its weight and size
Great video. How does the Brush Wolf compare to the Terava Skrama? They seem very similar in shape.
Reminds me of the Ka bar Johnson outdoor pot belly.
I ❤️ my brushwolf. I have smaller hands, so this knife fits my hand better than most survival knives in this size range.
Looks great! Does it compare to a Condor mini Duku to you? But with a straight spine? I can see a lot of similarities en the edge and it behavior. The finger choil is what I am missing on the Duku though. Great knife
Love tops knives! Have the missle strike! Wish they used a kydex sheath 9n this one!
Looks great 👍 I love that sheath!
My favourite machete from Tops is the yacare 10.0 the one you have looks nice and light but the handle looks off but maybe it’s for different handling?
Sir please do survival task review on wild pig hunter. Not much video on that tops wph
Where's it Made?
USA
@@gideonstactical got to be Absolutely AMERICAN made! For me... there are no other

Great review! This looks like a really cool knife, great design and features!
👍 Good review of an interesting knife. Reminds me of the Grohmann #4.
I'd definitely like to get one of these, but sadly it's just a bit out of my price range. Looks really nice, though.
First tops knife I've seen for awhile. Idk if it's just me, but what happened to tops recently? I've barely heard any news from them or any new models released in the last year. I know they had quite a few to be released but I never see them for sale anywhere and half the time most of their knives are out of stock everywhere besides a few
I based on a Nordic knife to do it and I gave it a very primitive look. thus achieving a knife worthy of being used by conan the barbarian
I've been patiently waiting for the storm vector to come in stock somewhere anywhere, i finally have the funds to buy an its not available anywhere, prolly never will be
Looks weird but I dig it. I could see it being a valuable one tool option with that saw back. Got a small parang feel to it
Thank you
Almost in the feature range of their mid-sized Tom Brown Trackers, but with the multi-utility handle positions. Thanks for this post - well done as always!...and yeah, unfortunately like so much else these days, these are not available quite yet.
They are around. When they come up they go quick. I’ve had mine for months.
@@mnchefmoi finally managed to lay my hands on one! Took me way too long

would you rather carry this or a terava skrama into the woods?
This
Awesome Ergos!
Such a unique design, nothing really like it on the market, Great design and great review!
Really liking the look of that. Great review. Jokes to one side would be interested on your view of the handles on the Steel Eagle with your large sized hands. Love the look of it but not a massive fan of Tops handles.
Just received mine
It is one of those grail knives
Aesthetically appealing
Multi utilitarian- many features
Sizable- not too large or small
I do not regret its purchase.
I actually would consider this if it had no saw, no jimping, no finger choil on the handle and I would prefer a kydex sheath.
Excellent review.
Looks great, though taking a knife buying break. I prefer a good leather sheath myself. Blessings!
I would like to see a comparation between this Brush Wolf and the new TOPS KNIVES Power Eagle
They are not even in the same ballpark. The power eagle is almost twice as heavy and twice as long.
I like it 😍😍
Great review!
Solid knife, great review Aaron 👍
The saw back is made for making notches 👍. Trapping
Love the design. Brush wolf vs Silent Hero if I'm only getting one?
Interesting Blade, that belly on the blade looks like it would chop similar to a parang.
The blade should be 2-3" longer. I hate the handle, give it a handle with a gentle curve , like the esee 6hm. My favorite Tops is the BOB 3.5. The best nesmuk is made by Brisa.

Do you need to sharpen this knives or it 'stay sharp' forever ?
You will need to resharpen with regular use
No knife will stay sharp forever.
@@gideonstactical Do you have any vid to teach that ? Sorry Im branch new in prepping ... Nvm found it lol
I’m still waiting for the Longhorn Bowie to restock. Been waiting since your last video on that blade. Hope your links will still work when they return...
This or the earth skills one?
The Earth Skills is a completely different knife and not as durable. It would depend on use but if I could only pick one it would be this.
@@mnchefmo this is more of a survival knife the other is a machete.
