    In this video Jonathan Heffron reviews the TOPS Outpost Command Knife.
    This is a strong, beefy knife that replace a number of tools in your arsenal. The strength of design has made it very functional in numerous user options. It measures 11-1/4" overall with a 5-3/4" 1095 high carbon steel drop point blade with black traction coating. The blade is full tang to provide maximum strength and features black linen Micarta handles which provide a solid grip even under extreme conditions. This knife can split, chop, pierce, whittle, shave, etc. all in one package. The black nylon belt sheath is a heavy duty design and can easily be attached to any MOLLE compatible webbing. This is a an excellent, comfortable knife you definitely will enjoy using and best of all, it's made right here in the USA.

    Now, this is what I envision when I think of a survival knife. It isn't a bush craft knife, it isn't a skinner, it isn't a chopper, it isn't a fighting knife, it is an all-round, jack-of-all-trades tool. A rugged, reliable, well conceived, and well executed knife that will be there when the warm brown stuff hits the air circulating device and your life is on the line.
    Well done Tops!

    Good to have you back bud. Love your channel. Nice to see Tops going with some more traditional blade styles. That there is almost Nessmuk-esque in its profile. Although that would be a monster Nessmuk at that length and thickness. (Oh, and as a ham radio operator from the days when we had to do code, I can assure you that dit-dah-dit is an R. Or that could be ETE depending on how you space them.)

    A strong tip is important to me, although I cringe whenever I see the "tip test". A lot of knives have too much of a swedge at the tip making the tip weaker ( but look good). A tip can be broken if you are abusive to it, but I do not think even abuse would break the tip on this knife. Thanks for showing it.

I have this knife along with a Tops Steel Eagle 107C, Becker 9, and a Tops Hawkes Hellion Survivor and many more. Regarding this Outpost Command, it is a well-designed knife that will do anything that you need a knife to do. I spent 12 years in the special forces and have used many knives over the years. This knife stands alone regarding ANY knife.

    • @Wingman115
      @Wingman115  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to ask yourself what are you going to use it for and what weather conditions. Huge factor in choosing a primary blade.

    • @carls.6746
      @carls.6746 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Wingman115 i like the pasayten because it looks like it makes finer shavings and would be very good and gutting fish, bluegill to bass mostly. i like the outpost because its thicker so its more durable when processing smaller wood for a fire to cook said fish. but i dont know how well of cutting the fish it would do. so for that purpose im leaning a little more towards the pasayten, and for hacking at smaller fire wood im leaning towards the outpost.

    C,mon Sailor,
    You're not actually complaining about a few thunderstorms and some forest fires that kept you from getting out in the woods are you?
    In addition to the Texicans, all of us down here in Florida are just happy to have power, and a roof over our heads after riding out Hurricane Irma!
    Some in the Florida Keys, Naples, Everglades City, and other places as far north as Saint Augustine near Jacksonville were not so lucky, and have no more houses to power, and some were pronounced DOA!
    The CIC had to send CVN-72 and an LPH to the Key West area, just to get people some water and MRE's!
    Hurricane Irma was between a Cat 2 and a Cat 3 when it hit Florida, thanks to a change in the track, and some weakening after its brush with Cuba; and everyone in Florida was really lucky that it was not the same Cat 5 (that literally destroyed Barbuda) when it hit Florida.
    We did not dodge a bullet, we dodged a cannonball!
    Did I mention its 90 + degrees and humid!
    Sadly we also had eight people in a nursing home nearby that died due to heat exposure, as the home lost power and their a/c!
    I'll have to get out in the Big Cypress, the Everglades, and farther north to see the hurricane's impact on our natural areas, and the tree canopy.
    You're living the good life out there in sunny San Diego.
    Anyway, the knife looks pricey, but rock solid!
    Thanks!
