Just started watching your channel. I am a huuuuge proponent of self-publishing. I don't like the idea of the author-agent dynamic. And I love self-publishing. Thanks for your videos, I'm eating them up!

I'm a member of the Author's Guild now, if I'm ever lucky enough to get an agent or contract, they will look it over at least. Thankfully my little GA book sold enough to get in. Love that photo by the way, Arielle, wow.

So, do you recommend that writers hold off on mentioning that they were previously represented by an agent when they query new agents? I’m currently in this situation and I never really know what the proper etiquette is regarding past agents/new agents. Do they want to know up front, or is that TMI for a query? Does it create bias, ie, suggest someone saw value in your work... or rather that you’re difficult to work with? How do you recommend approaching potential new agents with this history?

We would do the initial approach without saying. If they are interested, tell them at that point.

It would be great if I could find a lit agent so I can have the chance to get rid of them, lol
