You're right, it takes a lot of networking and asking asking asking. While attending a writer's conference I met a woman who knew an editor in travel writing. She gave me his contact info. I emailed him mentioning his friend. He responded and agreed to read my book non-fiction book "An American In Oz - Discovering the Island Continent of Australia." He LOVED it and wrote a full page glowing review filled with blurbs. Everything we require is available through people we already know, or who they know, or people we're about to meet

Love this. You've given me the encouragement I needed to reach out. Part of me worries that people are super busy and won't have time to read my book in order to write the blurb. It feels like a lot to ask, but I'm going to do it.
It IS very hard to ask, but so worthwhile if you are able to secure one!
