Mistake about the sacred at 17:42 Bad formation fighter doesn't mean that their size can be counsidered as increased by the amount, but that if at leat one of them is in the tile, the maximum size of the tile is reduced by that amount. You can have 2 of them per tile, because 4+4 = 8, and 10-2 = 8 too, so they fit. (It's mostly there so that you can't fit anyone or anything else then them, and to make them worse with the larger bless.) Edit: It does seem to be buged, when they start the battle they are able to be 2 per tile, but they don't seem to be able to recombine when they break formation. From the description of "bad formation fighter" does mean that they should be 2 per tile.(After further testing, they can be up to 8 size in the square even with 2 bad formations fighter 2, but it seems that the things that can go there can only do so if they "spawn" there, ie: 2 of the abysia sacred of age 2 (size 3) can have 2 additional size be in their square, but those can only enter their square if they do so by being spawn or by flying inside their square)
I did some testing too and I think bad formation fighter stacks, u like positive formation fighter. Lavaborns also work the same way so that the 2 size 3 units in a square with -2 formation fighter won't allow anything else to move into the square, an easy way to check is using salamander spam. I think they (formation fighter) are called similar things but are infact different modifiers. Also one burning ones to a square is consistent with dominions 5 gameplay
@@juliang8676 The thing that make me think it's buged either way, is that if it does stack, then why can other creature spawn/fly in to fill the square up to the amount if it did not stack (you can observe it by spamming the nature spell that spawns lots of insect). I do understand that both modifier are explicitly different, but I think if it was supposed to stack, since it would be a comportement different from what would be expected like with the normal formation fighter, I think it sould be explicilty told in the modifier.

@@juliang8676 No other units can enter the square normally, but units can spawn (magic invocation) or fly into the square to fill it up to, in this case 8, and the square can stay filled with 8 size. try playing abyssia MA, get a good amount of nature on your pretender and cast the spell that invoque lots of small insects next to your sacred (cost a nature gem, I can't remember what it's called), you will see that you will be able to have the 2 sacred + 2 insect size 1 or 1 insect size 2, as long as the insects enter their square either by beeing summoned by the pretender, or by flying into combat where there already is 2 sacred. (In fact, this means (and it works, I tested it) that if you take flying bless in EA Abyssia your sacred can fly together to the same squares and be fighting at 2 sacred per squares).
Abyssia was one of the first nations I played as a new to the series Dom 6 player. It's nice for a beginner: you understand fire is your thing, you have a simple troop roster, your heavy infantry is largely foolproof in basic combat, and the fire salamander is great against independents OR weird stuff you don't understand yet AND consistently synergizes with your infantry.
I totally agree with Abysia being a good beginner nation. I think the difficulty of astral and blood is a bit overblown frankly (even if it is still valid).
I was floored when I saw your first pretender, same chassis as my previous game and stygian flesh and blood surge. Where are the hidden cameras in my house?
I try to keep changing things up, but blood surge feels just so good for the cost. Stygian has also really grown on me. I think in multiplayer, there would be a much higher chance of people taking magic weapons and countering it. Totally unrelated, but there is no reason to check your mechs for cameras.
Really love these. They help so much. Each time I play I always go here to see how to play them, or at least, what to think about. Very very helpful, ty!
That's exactly what I used to/still do. Before Dom6, I watched basically every Dominions video on YT, minus a couple where the audio was just unlistenable. Glad you are enjoying these and they are inspiring you for your own play. Feel free to post any questions or insights you gain, we are all learning here.
Just started playing Dominions and wanted to start with these guys. I built a dragon as my pretender since they got a point bonus for them. I read online that dragons are bad but they seem to be treating me well so far. Thanks for the video!
Always, but especially as a new player, play the things that you think look cool! Most of the discourse around the game will always be about streamlining for multiplayer. Even for me, who has only posted single player content in Dom66 tend towards that since I played multiplayer in 6. All that said, the dragon will work fine here, especially if you can get it to breath fire through your FR troops. You can also use it to summon in fire drakes from conjuration with the dragon master bonus.
EA Abyssia and Ubar have quite a few similarities to one another. +3 heat, forts cutting deaths from heat by 2 levels, a plethora of wasteland survival units and thematic ties to flames. Makes me wonder if in the setting of the game, the Smokeless flame of the Jinn has any ties to the Rhuax. (Which being a native French speaker, I pronounce Roo-ax.) And they even also have a ritual to increase the heat of a distant province. And now to quote the Merrymen! Ole ole, ole ole Ole ole, Ole ole Feeling hot hot hot...
Agartha also deals with Rhuax. I had a feeling that I was not correct with that pronunciation, but was not sure where the names were derived from for this nation. Thanks for the info.
I think addition of buff spells in Thaumaturgy makes it more viable as early level 5 goal and makes fire more interesting. You can easily cast Gift of Furious with most mages with a fire in the jar, and along the way you also get Mind Burn, Soul Slay, and Prison of Fire (which is underused spell). Also at Thaum 5 you can do pyre of catharis on your 3F1E old mage to get rid of disease so less need to get unaging
Good call out on pyre of catharis! Fire really needed those new buff spells. Those and the bonds of fire line of spells are really helpful against glamour/defense troops.
Dominions is a very complex game, which is also information dense, and with great depth. Watching videos of competitive MP players is like learning another language. I've been playing since Dom 3, and I am NOT at the level of even a mediocre MP player. That having been said, so what? You don't need to know how Fimbulwinter interacts with Second Sun to enjoy playing. Pick an beginner friendly nation like Niefelheim, or Abyssia, or Ulm and have fun. Once you have the basics down, pick a system you want to learn, and play a few games with a nation that can access it without being dependent. So for example to learn Blood I would pick LA Ulm, or Marignon, who can use blood, rather than Mictlan who MUST use blood.
The big ones have the opposite trait to make them less efficient. (it was bugged in the first versions so you actually had 2 of them in the same square which was insane (4 attacks base)
It occurs to me that it would be a good idea to link the stream vod in your description for these once it's up. People should be able to find it pretty easily (if they know to look) but it doesn't hurt to make things easy.
Even though he's not going to have fire your god has to be named Rex, THE DESTROYER. Or at least some crazy empowered and boosted Fire prophet ought to be named that. Hyped for ABYSIA!

Fatigue is incremental I think? So you take penalties long before you fall unconscious? I'm a bit unclear on how the heat scales work with population. "Prefers Heat 3" in particular: does that mean that the race treats Heat 3 as others treat Heat 0 and thus Heat 1 counts as Cold 2 to them? ..are the population entirely determined by whose Dominion it is or who the ruler is? [Impressive mass polymorphing is going on somewhere?]
Fatigue does come in incrementally. I believe the penalties start at 20 and ramp up. For population, it is left nebulous as to who they are. I guess you could consider them the same as the local indies? The preferred scales affect income, and total scales can cause pop death in Dom6 for extremes temps. For units, you take extra fatigue the further away from your preferred scales the battlefield is. It also can affect "heat/cold power" abilities and some spells function better/worse depending on scales present.
IDK if you noticed, but introduction was spelt wrong at the very start of the vid. Thought it was worth pointing out if this was a template you're gonna use for future videos!
