September 25, 2022, Fall Pops :) I still don’t know how to train my dragon. Also jk guys the dragon is still alive 😎💪 Enjoy and thanks for watching, Rohanna 🍓
My school concert band played this piece last year, and my conductor let me play it with them (im in wind ensemble, which is more advanced) because i had requested it. Nearly cried on stage. HTTYD has been my favorite orchestral work for years, and I’d been waiting to play it since I was in 6th grade. Last year in 11th I fulfilled my dream. He even put together string parts for it so the younger strings could make it a full orchestra. I’m so happy to see other people playing this arrangement, or even just these scores. They’re breathtaking all these years later just the same as when I first watched the movie and fell in love. Awesome playing ❤
we had to play this in symphonic band in 8th grade last school year and this is one of the songs that gets played over and over. I get it, it sounds pretty good, but it gets annoying
Im in 7th and I’m in wind assemble cause of our program and I’ve been requesting this song for so long, also because I love this song and reminds me of the movie that as a kid I loved so much, this song give me goosebumps.
I think it didn't sound TOO bad I mean wonderful flute playing the solo was filled with good tone and great musicality but you can tell somebody didn't practice over in the brass
I loved that you included the sheet music on the bottom of the screen, made it really neat and easy to follow. Truly a wonderful piece, one of my favourites to play👍
Whenever I'm in band I'm the ONLY one who picks up my pencil and takes notes on my sheet and it makes me feel so embarrassed. Thank you for showing your own music; love to see that some other people actually do too!!
As a trumpet player, I find it interesting to see what other instruments plzy. Not once have I heard the flutes play all these little arpeggios. Maybe bc we play too loud lol idk. But anyways it's fascinating
real shit, the trumpet section and the flute section are on COMPLETE OPPOSITE sides of our set and i sit in the seat thats furthest away, so the only time i can really hear them is when we arent playing, and even then its a struggle bc theres a whole army of clarinets. 😭😭😭
I played the full orchestra version of this arrangement a little over a year ago. I also had the melody at 0:43 on cello and it nearly killed me every time we played it lol
i too am a flute and we tried to play this at my school towards the end of 8th grade year, as something fun to do until the year ended, but no one wanted to play it except for the front row (I'm a flute) so my band directors gave up. However, the entire front row proceeded to learn their parts anyway and now we all still know it to this day, and play it during band before warm ups
Glad to see people are still playing this music. Makes me feel old. I remember playing this piece in seventh grade band on the flute - that was about 9 years ago now. Y’all rocked it, and you especially have a lot of potential on that flute!
I’d like to apologise on behalf of all oboes for the really squeaky oboe/ slightly sharp I can hear lol. there’s always one in every high school orchestra. Also the horns sound pretty good :]
@@aLitttleLoloBirdyou do realize this person probably plays in an orchestra and is playing this song, right? In the original score violin and flute most likely had the same part(and then when it was arranged for concert band violin got taken out) or flutes had something different but whoever arranged this piece for concert band decided that the violin part was more important and gave it to the flutes. Either way this person is talking about the same song, just different arrangements lol
My band played this last year and it was a hot mess until the night of the concert. We couldn’t decide on a saxophone soloist so that was a fun 10 minutes of arguing
I love this piece and am also an oboist but can't find the oboe part. Do you happen to have a link to it? P.S the oboe in this recording is... interesting...
The last year I was in concert band, we started playing this and getting it ready for the concert. I had the solo, and then like a week before the concert our band director took it out because he thought we didn’t work on it enough (to be fair 2/3rds of the class didn’t) but I worked on that solo so hard :(
gave me hella deja vu. literally just played this this year in band - although we did play it a couple years ago too - and i was flute solo too lol. good job!
My school concert band played this for their first concert and it’s safe to say that their dragons went extinct bc out of three trumpets only one was playin 😭😭
I miss playing the flute so much, ever since I became homeschool I can't do band or choir anymore and this is making me sad. Also you were lovely, ore confidence than I could ever have. Good job!!
This is really impressive! The speed and clarity specifically. I’ve played flute for years and this looks like some pretty challenging stuff. I would absolutely love to play this one day
We never played this in concert band when I was in high school, but I can easily imagine doing it. I am tempted to take out my flute and play along instead of air fingering on an imaginary flute. This is very nicely put together with the sheet music, and beautifully played. Thank you!
You playing amazing! I couldn’t keep up with how fast and great you were playing! I’m a flute player and I haft to say I could never do that. You did amazing! Keep up the good work! ❤
My school's orchestra has been playing this piece and exact same arrangement since 2017/2018, and I joined in 2019. It's only recently that I'm now able to play the fl solo (haven't performed it yet though) and arpeggios thanks to my teacher showing me the alternate Bb fingering lmao. I went through grades 4 to 6/7 before this epiphany moment😅
Very Nice! You played so well! I just played this piece with my school's wind ensemble (I played the snare drum part) and this brought back awesome memories. Thank you!
I’ve played this twice in my band now, once with four of us (freshmen year) and second with six of us (junior year) so I loved listening to this and what it’s supposed to sound like 😭
As a fellow Flute player this was beautiful. Sadly even though I'm in Wind Ensemble I can't play thrills as I should be able to at my level getting my 3rd superiors this year.
i played this last december for full orchestra in high school, and it was so fun. (horn). made sure to play the test drive part very loud too because there were only two of us :)
as a trombonist who has played this piece in concert band in both year 4 and year 8, this is so cool!! i barely hear the flutes where i sit in the band so it's really interesting to hear all the parts i never noticed before. you play it really well! :D
Hi Ate Rohanna, I’m a band student from Burlingame and we also played this in our concert! I also play Flute, so watched your video a lot of times to help me practice. Thanks for sharing your talent!
I played this when I was in 8th grade but I had to suffer because they lost the part for my instrument… So me, a baritone saxophone player had to read a E-flat bass clarinet part that I couldn’t even get low enough for some of the notes. (I was very sad and disappointed, I was looking forward to playing it) :(
my school did this and we all love it even though we're not super great at it. seriously, every time we get a spare second we all start playing this piece
We got to play this and we had attempted to play it in 8th grade before covid hit. I was the only who remembered how to play it the first time we did it. Definitely shocked the other flutes... Go muscle memory. 😂
Im playing this as a bari sax in an orchestra where the trombones just SCREAM, and i say, this hole shabang has a deficit of BASSari SOUND, if i cant hear THE BOOM of the bari it aint good! in the first staccato, i heard only either the basson or the bass clarinet so im dissapointed in the lack of the best sax
Sounds like you’re the only person who practiced 💀
Lol, totally
What about those Altos?? I played this 2 years ago and lemme tell you that part can get hard lol
Played this last year as an alto and it can be very challenging
Fr thooo😂😂
The bass clarinets sounded fine

My band doesn’t get to play movie pieces/ famous pieces
I think it didn't sound TOO bad I mean wonderful flute playing the solo was filled with good tone and great musicality but you can tell somebody didn't practice over in the brass
OMG IKR, and as a horn player, all those horn solos made me cry, because they're really not hard if you just PRACTICE

Same is happening in my band if your not gonna practice at least sound good 😒
THE TRUMPETS ARE OUT OF TUNE IM GONNA CRYYY AAAAAAAAAA
You’re out of tune
Everything is
Clarinets...😭😭😭
Trumpets out of tune. Horns missing partials. Basically all woodwinds out of tune. Yep. Sounds like high school middle band
Yeah fr
Wow! You guys really killed it! The dragon, I mean.
LOL! Deserves a like.
LOL
Best. comment. ever.
Percussion was spot on loved it
my schools percussion was so bad, they made me (a tuba player) fill in some parts, and now im doing mallets :)
As percussionist, I have found no one wants to do the mallet parts
@@baileycarter5141Nah, everyone be fighting for that 4 mallet sight reading, frfr
@@baileycarter5141That’s too bad. As a percussionist, I’ve found my favorite parts are when I get to play mallets.

dont be embarrassed, I am personally embarrassed that I'm to lazy to pull it out.
@@Caff-pv8fg Thanks 😂
don't be embarrassed! my audition music was half pencil and half actual notes. writing on your music is good!
people who write on music sheets are usually the ones who improve, write and circle anything if it helps prevent mistakes
i’d much prefer that people take notes when they know they don’t know a part than play the wrong notes loudly
As a trumpet player, I find it interesting to see what other instruments plzy. Not once have I heard the flutes play all these little arpeggios. Maybe bc we play too loud lol idk. But anyways it's fascinating
Sadly you don't hear us play it because it's too difficult to play confidently 😭

As a bass clarinetist, they did very well! It's hard to articulate down low. Awesome job on the flute solo!
However, as a Oboe, I died.
I know! But I believe that the higher notes where even more challenging
As someone playing this song right now in band at school I feel this helped. Great work on the flute
thank youuu, hope you have fun with it :)
bro the percussion went so hard, as a percussionist i am so proud
I’d like to apologise on behalf of all oboes for the really squeaky oboe/ slightly sharp I can hear lol. there’s always one in every high school orchestra. Also the horns sound pretty good :]
Literally it sucks because people don’t really know how pretty oboe can be be because of the goose sound bad players make😭
As a flute player hearing the flute out of tune is making my head hurt 😭 (ontop of the other instruments being out of tune too)
You are really good at flute.
The descending triplet thing at the beginning is absolutely awful for the first violins lmao
Violins? This is not an orchestra playing..
heh? this aint an orchestra
If it's identical to how it's written here, just do 1st position with extended 4 to hit the Cnat.

It’s the same thing but for about three measures of it instead of it going to other instruments
Got this in my recommendations and upon hearing the first note I paused to grab my own flute to sight read along
knew from the first chord it'd be straight fire
"how many times have you seen this?" me: "yes."
