I remember I played this in junior high band as snare and the polar express was nearly at 180 bpm 😭 I'm surprised I got through it despite my inexperience
i've been watching these videos the past few months and i just have to say you have improved a lot! you're a lot more confident and your tone is so much clearer, plus you're hitting a lot more difficult passages! keep up the good work :)
found your channel when looking for videos on HTTYD since we're playing it in our orchestra and found your video on the medley you played! I enjoyed it a lot and I enjoyed this one too. keep it up! :😁
Omg this was amazing, i have only played the flute for 5 years but i have zero issues playing the low and high register of the flute. Even so the speed at which those high notes are going would have took my lungs out. How does one even play the notes that fast? You truly are an amazing flutist
OH MY GOD I PLAYED THIS ON JANUARY THIS YEAR FOR THE FRESHMAN ORIENTATION As a low wind (bari-sax) I have to admit that at Bar 5 and Bar 13 with the crescendo the whole low wind section makes it to a fortissimo as if their life depends on it
See your improvement in those few years (how to train your dragon-now)the control and the sustainability incerases in a fast speed Remember of taking care of the crescendos and the articulation I hope to see your masterpieces again👍🏻
Omg what year are you bc you inspire me to practice flute lmao I wanna think that I can improve like this during my HS years (I'm freshmen) but my god those high notes scare me 🎉🎉🎉
can you make another video for flute performances?? I really like your videos especially the flute ones and I am a fellow flute player so can you please make another one!!🙏
She played good but the conductor isn’t helping at all. Why pick something so hard to play instead of finding something they can play the work on it and shape it? I’ve played this it’s not easy at all. Why do so many band directors just toss something that hard up in the air.
I believe it was a good thing my band director had us play this piece. In fact, I was the one who recommended it. Although this piece was challenging, improving and seeing what we could accomplish was a great experience. I assume band directors have their students play difficult music because they know their students can do it.
@@reagansmith8859 I'm currently playing Stravinsky's Firebird and Ibert's Concerto (1st mov)... Yes, I can play this, and have played it multiple times in my old band. Her timbre is very airy and has no focus. It's lacking a lot of lower harmonics. She is also not good at controlling her embouchure, which leads to less control of pitch (in this video, she's usually flat). She also doesn't have good hand position. Her wrist is twisting, her fingers are not coordinated (moving at the same time), and their placement is off. I can keep going..
@@arock6028 I said something helpful in the replies. What's your problem ? The only thing she can do is work on her tone.. Her embouchure has no control. You need to be self-aware and take long timbre sessions where you work on it.
Damn I get fear of heights from this
I can tell those notes are higher than my class
@@EtherRithdamn-
THAT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! Nice flute playing as well and I can tell that your tone has grown😊
Thank so much!! I'm glad you liked it :)
no band piece should have flutes in that range 😭😭🙏
bruh rocky point holiday by ron nelson has me as a bassoon going all the way to a c5 😀💀
surprisingly that’s the “normal range” of the flute
@@l6nd0n19ikr and the issue is, it doesn’t sound good (most of the time)
@@elizabethpirkey some of the time it sounds so good but not all flute can play that high and when they try it hurts the piece

Damn I played this on snare with my band, never knew the flute part was that hard
all of the woodwind parts for this song are stupidly hard for no reason
I also Play flute its not hard

Good job flute and oboe
dang as a hs sophomore 1st flute this song looks terrifying😭 your playing is impressive and beautiful
The composer having the flutes go that high and not using 8va is just criminal... 🥲
It’s normal🥲 we got used to it😭
@@Mari-flute-pjsk 🥲🥲🥲 I'm going have to get used to it, I'm in 7th grade. I can read up to high A, but I have to write in notes past that 😢😢😢
@@SamuelMaloney-mb9sg same, they already have me going up to high C above above the staff (that super high one)😭
I got used to them😭 I’m also the only first flute in my band😭😭😭

Clarinets ruined the beginning tbh
played this for my schools winter concert on trumpet, i wish we took the polar express section at your tempo😭it was soo fast
Same, our director insisted that instead of playing 120 at the beginning, we should play 144, it was a nightmare.
