I usually breath (when there aren’t any rests) at the end of phrases. However, sometimes I can’t because some phrases are like 2-3 lines long and I’m sorry but My lungs aren’t that amazing so I wing it. Has worked so far. Courtesy of piano becuase it’s probably the main reason I can guess where to breathe and not have anyone notice too much

For non-Spanish speakers: "Don Roberto" is like saying "Mister Roberto" in Spanish, but instead of using his last name, you use his first name. It's a way of addressing a man in a friendly way, while being polite and respectful at the same time (if you wanted to be formal, then you would use his last name, preceded by "Señor")

I agree 100% with your comment. But since you're not a Spanish speaker (I assume), I just wanted to point out as an FYI: His name is Roberto, and "Don" is like saying "Mister," but it's only used before the first name in Spanish. It's like a way of addressing a man both in a friendly way, while being respectful at the same time (otherwise, you would say "Señor" before the last name, if you want to be 100% formal). For women it would be "Doña" or "Señora"

Usually many students can't make a sound consistently (!!!!!!) for 2-3 months. Also, doing vibrato comes much later in the studies, because it needs a good technical foundation and a lot of air control, students usually start learning it after 6-7 years of playing. Actually it's really impressive that you guys learnt how to produce a sound this quickly. I have been playing the flute for 8 years, so I went through all that pain and suffer too😂
Edit: Making a sound on the flute is relatively fast, but it takes a while for it to become consistent. Of course, it is different for everybody, and if we speak about little children, it can take even 2 months for them. Their teeth are changing, so it's more difficult. For adults, it depends on the teacher explaining well the basics and how much they practice.
Vibrato... It comes naturally for many students, and it should, so there is no problem if you have it earlier. Usually if you don't have it naturally after around 5-6 years, the teacher will help you learn it

As someone who plays the flute in my school band when Roberto said "when you need to breathe, breathe, if you don't need to breathe still breathe" that's exactly what I do. Also this is prob why my fingers always hurt after playing for an hour in class. On Wednesdays I play for two hours which makes it worse but you will get very dizzy because of all the air you use. The flute uses a lot of air and for me personally it's not that hard to learn but it's not easy either. When Roberto was telling them how to start blowing with just the head joint it reminded me of elementary because that's how you start in elementary. Thank you guys for trying it out and Brent getting out the higher notes amazes me sometimes I can't even get out the higher notes.

Omg…I just realized something. The piece that TwoSet was trying to play here, Mahler Symphony 1 movement 3…might have been the piece of music that made me want to learn the viola.
When I was in 5th grade 3 string musicians came into school for a demonstration. There was a violinist, a violist, and a cellist. That day I fell in love with the viola because it was a perfect cross between its violin and cello counterparts. I was also selected to perform with them on a drum because I just HAPPENED to beat it at the same tempo as the piece they would be performing later…which was the one we heard here in the video. Holy heck TwoSet had rekindled my desire to learn music a long time ago, but this one just relit a fire in me. And I was actually able to follow them on my flute! (I have a viola and a flute)

Vaya, ¡qué sorpresa! Hola desde España. Don Roberto is such a good teacher, he reminds me of my Spanish teachers when I was still studying. Spanish people normally speak very fast, and also depending on their province, the accents can vary very much (plus you have the myriad accents of América), but here Don Roberto speaks calmly and using gestures to communicate. Muy bien chicos, ¡a practicar!

Wow he's such a good teacher. Even with the language barrier, he showed things clearly and simply. You both did very well (Brett especially)

Roberto is a great teacher! The guys really understood a lot of basic stuff in a very short period of time, and Brett seems to be a natural. btw, the dizziness is from wasting so much air, when you don't direct it at the tone hole properly.
