    Had this video on my headhones while building a new laser bench in the shop today. Great explanation and I can sympathise with you on mixing up directions. I do that too many times myself.

      I am working on a follow up for this video on how I create the "Perfect Circle" on tapered cylinders. Should post by mid week.

    I always measure and set the circumference in the rotary settings just in case it matters. I've had issues with this in the past but, it could have been that I had the wrong number in the "mm per rotation" setting.

    Good video Steve. I personally use the calculator with no issues. But as they say, there are many ways to skin the cat. I'm a numbers guy so using the calculator to line things up works for me. The friction roller works the very same way. I have both rotary's and depending on what I'm doing determines which one I use. This is such a great machine, I love the Roly. I get my upgrade 20 watt laser tomorrow and can't wait. (I have the MK1) And, you can not ask for better customer service, Leo is the man! ;-) Cheers and thumbs up !

    About to try my rotary this weekend. I did not search to see if this was already asked, but why not flip the container around and chuck it on the white part? Wouldn’t you have the entire bamboo area available if you did it like that?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The orientation I was using is why I chucked up the side that I did. The size of the design didn't require any more space than I had available. If you were going to do a taller design, your suggestion would work.

    Diameter or Circumference, which is which? Well, one way is ;
    “One will Clasp the Circumference of the glass in order to Drink from the Diameter of the glass”.
    Hope this helps whenever one might be in the left field or is it the right field?
    Anyway, have a blessed week to all.

      I know the difference. Just like I know my left from my right. But there is a short circuit in my brain that will invert the two. It's almost like a dyslexia of sorts.

    Fantastic explanation Steve. I see you are doing a line after fill do you use the same settings for the fill and line?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do not typically run the LAF at the same settings. It is usually at a slower speed and less power. I did not intend to do this with the glass. I didn't pay attention to the settings in the layer before sending the job.

    I’ve got a job to engrave some ceramic scent warmers. Do you know of a way I can practice before using the customer’s ceramic piece?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is no shortcut around testing. If you are engraving/marking a piece for the first time without testing, it is a guessing game. You can get some cheap ceramic tiles to test with, but there is no guarantee the results will be the same on your customer's piece.

    So in your opinion, don’t even mess with it if your doing a tapered tumbler using a circle type emblem. To me if you don’t, wouldn’t it look oblong?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Which "it" are you referring to? If you are asking about the calculator, no, don't mess with it. Rich was correct. Entering the proper values in the calculator does nothing. But entering the wrong values can mess things up. I am going to do another video showing how I use the warp tool and a few other tricks to correct for the taper. Stay tuned.

      @@HoboWithWood what I meant was, when doing a round logo, wouldn’t the circle look oblong on a tapered tumbler? I’ll look forward to your video on warped text. Thanks!

    Will the rotary Chuck work in the lasermatic 10 or is it just for the 20 and 30?

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It will work in the LaserMATIC10. The positions would be different of course and I would assume they would account for that. BUT you know what happens when you assume. But determining the positions and saving them in the saved postions is no big deal if they haven't already done that. So, yes the chuck will work. You may have to setup the positions.
