Yeah, the game is great. It is probably the best feeling game in terms of handling and ffb in my opinion. Although, AMS2 also does feel pretty good lately. I'd be interested to see what comes over the remainder of this year.
@@evodesignsracing5925 I'd over 2000 hours in ACC. I haven't fired it up in 6 months. Between LMU and AMS2 (and some iracing ovals), these get my time. I must look at ACC and see how it is nowadays.
@@BOBOTHEBANDIT thanks mate. LMU is probably the best circuit racing experience available in my opinion. Many sims tend to have an overly strong front end, but LMU is the only simulation out there that has this dynamic shifting from front to rear in terms of grip. It's pretty cool, but awful on cold tyres.
Why in the world S397 decides to make a game that focuses on cars without ABS, and they make a full on sim, and then turn around and allow ABS and other driving aids in the online low rank races is a very typical S397 move. They always seem to cock up decisions in their sims. The thing is, LMU has excellent handling physics and they have made the tire model a bit more edgy from rF2 which overall is excellent as well, but the FFB doesn't communicate well what the tire is doing. You feel the suspension very well through the FFB, but not the tires. Therefore, locking tires and lateral slip isn't very noticed through the FFB and this results in people having trouble controlling the cars. Hence they turn on brake help and stability control and are somehow faster. S397 needs to fix their FFB and remove the driving aids from online...lets hope they do. Nice video!
Because it is the official license with the most content possibilities except perhaps for the tracks and the category of the most beloved by motorsport lovers. They also made BTCC (full grid an tracks), Indycar and had several plans with several categories in rF2, but we already know how the story ended, LMU is the last chance of survival of Studio 397 and the best racing simulator on the market. You say that the FFB needs to be fixed? You are probably one of the few or the only one who says that, when you have more than 20 hours on the track you will see how you feel the things that you say, the physics, the FFB and the tire model are the best on the market that your money can buy
I agree fully. A very slight pull on the wheel would be nice to indicate locking up. The hypercars have the dash lights. As soon as I see one of them illuminate, I'm releasing the brake slowly , but as I recall, the other cars I believe don't have this (open to correction). I think with S397, and looking to RFactor, the idea is spot on. The implementation and execution is off the mark. They have a real gem of a game, but I don't think they are capitalising on it the way they could and should.
The ffb and physics are the best I've experienced. I think he was referring to the locking up piece and feeling absolutely nothing. I do think S397 need to capitalise more on LMU. They have a gem, but I think execution on ideas has always been poor. The funny thing is, they produce superb content (as you mention) and that content goes to a virtual grave yard. Great devs, poor management?
@@GSSimRacing I don't think the management is bad, they have bought companies like traxion, I think there are also agreements with overtake, in racecontrol they give a lot of advice and tips about the sim, they create attractive videos, they are active and generate content on all social media, but in general I don't know why most of the videos of youtubers don't speak well of LMU or rF2, except for what I told you above. Regarding the small jerk when blocking, yes it happens (at least in my steering wheel), also in LMU or rF2 the FFB is directly connected to the physics, they are not generated effects like in iRacing or ACC, when you step on a kerb and the steering wheel doesn't vibrate, it's because it's flat without steps, to give an example, anyway regarding braking and blocking, when you've been doing it for a few hours you'll see how muscle memory does all the work, anyway it's in early access, with time they will surely continue to improve what they see necessary. *I hope I haven't repeated the answer 3 times, I don't know why it doesn't appear after I published it.
@@GSSimRacing And let me give you a tip to make it harder for you lock apart from practice, increase the pressure needed from the load cell to brake to 100% or decrease the braking pressure parameter in the setup, but make sure you can apply the braking pressure to 100%, in hard braking you need to apply 100% in the first part of braking and gradually raise it as you slow down and starting the trail braking phase
@@kuervagrx9113 I just had a brilliant race at Monza a few hours ago. Absolutely brilliant. Everyone was braking at the same point etc. It was all about driver skill. It was great.
@@GSSimRacing If it was 4-5 hours ago in Split 1, I was there haha, although the wet track caught me by surprise and I was improvising, also at the start there was no visibility and I found a car crossing in the second chicane that I couldn't avoid on lap 4-5, finally sixth place in LMP2, but I had a better pace than in front of me, but I didn't have time to catch up. But I had the same experience before the changes with assists in beginners, the braking points of the drivers around me were the same and I have always had good races, with respect on the track and tough battles. Yeah I think it was between 5-6 Irish time. I managed to finish 2nd in LMP2, but the leader had about half a second per lap on me. Very tricky conditions and I need to get back into a little practise. It was great though. A real challenge.
@@GSSimRacing Then I think not, I am in Spain GMT +2, I think you ran the following event, next time I will be more attentive, as I have seen your name is G. Smith
Stopped playing it when I fully understood the implications of assists on online MP. Such a pity. At least with the advent of the upcoming GT3 cars, ABS will be standard.
Yes, in this case Gold and possibly, GT3 races become the only fair races online...which cuts out a lot of content. I cannot remember the last time I raced a GTE or LMP2 car online. Many of those are tied up in assisted categories (bronze/silver), sadly.
I understand and share your opinion about ABS, most of us who come from rF2 have also complained, but I think you give it too much importance. LMU currently has a small player base, many of them without load cell pedals, which are practically essential to drive without ABS. In iRacing you don't have assistance, but the beginner cars are much easier to drive than a GTE, LMP2 or LMH, it is understandable that for beginners or other drivers who come from other sims to be able to play. I have not tested what difference there is in time with ABS and without, but 3 seconds seems exaggerated to me, anyway I also tell you that most of the fast drivers in the beginner Split 1 do not use ABS, if you are not at the top of the table it is probably a skill issue. In the recent survey I proposed that they at least put an icon that differentiates the drivers who use assistance to at least know who you are competing with. Regarding your times in Imola, alien drivers like Michi, Jernej or Andonovski do 1.29-30 approx, but 1.31-32 are good times, it also depends on the track conditions (in LMU the track temperature, the weather and the running of the cars influence the lap time), as well as the setup, even if it is fixed, it is not the same as the default base one. I hope to see you more in LMU, respects!.
Thank you. Yep I'm going to give LMU some more time. I had a gold race last night. Imola in the wet. It was good fun and good to see people making mistakes under braking (even me). It just added a element of realism. I hope the player numbers increase, they still seem very low. It surprised me how popular ACC still is.
@@GSSimRacing Influencers and youtubers with few years in simracing or who have only played iRacing because Max Verstappen plays it and have spent thousands of dollars are probably not helping Studio 397/LMU with their reviews and comments, as it already happened with rF2 despite all the improvements, competitive system and new content from 2021 to 2023. BTW, I'm totally with you regarding the assists, especially if the official leagues don't allow it.
GT3 cars will allow close racing without the need to worry about locking up. So, while it will be less challenging from a driving skill perspective, the margins should be closer in terms of lap time. Most players prefer some kind of assisted driving. I mean, if we look at the popularity of the bronze races online now, they are filled with silver and gold rated drivers, but my guess is that they are racing in those to run the assists and have a simple racing experience. Although, that doesn't make sense to me, as the same people will also say how much of a great "simulator" it is...yet running the assists will unsimulate reality. So I think GT3 will give that type of driver the onboard assists and easier driving style that they might prefer. This is my thinking.
@@GSSimRacing i think i have to disagree on this one. I see how it is bothering, that other people have assists, but I simply dont care.
