    Hi Carrie and Brian,
    I just wanted to thank you for making these videos. I enjoy them each Saturday morning. My wife and I are approaching retirement and are looking forward to a similar lifestyle to what you're doing in a few years. You do an excellent job of conveying pertinent information in an entertaining way. I appreciate Brian's sense of humor (corny as it may be at times) and Carrie's very pleasant disposition.
    I'm inspired and encouraged by how affordable seeing the world can be. Hopefully you will still be doing this in a few years and I can buy you a beer somewhere along the way. Please keep the videos coming. I look forward to watching each Saturday.
    James

      We would love to meet up somewhere, someday for a beer. We plan on doing this for years to come. Thank you again for the kind words and support. Comments like this inspire us to keep the videos coming.

    We got our quad delivered to the airport for when we arrived. Then the two of us with one bag each went straight to the accomodation on the quad. We spent 160€ for four days.. no taxis, no buses, no waiting.. and our accommodation was out of town a bit up the mountain (great view and was cheaper then staying in any of the towns). Then the quad people picked up the quad from us when we were leaving, we drove to the airport, they took it from there, to it was amazing!!

      That is so cool!! We would get one now for sure. We were very budgeted at the time but would spend the 160 now. What a great experience!! Thank you for adding to the channel!

    My husband and I are really enjoying your videos! You both do a great job delivering information in a clear and concise way and the budget breakdown is extremely helpful. I would love to see you include your meal plan for a week or a clip showing items available in the local grocery store. Obviously it would vary based on the country you’re currently staying in and I’d be interested in seeing what’s available and how you plan around that. We’ll be heading to the Algarve in October for 3 weeks, staying in Carvoeiro and have found your Portugal videos fantastic. Thank you and happy travels!

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! We usually show our grocery store and our basic purchases in our monthly cost of living videos. You are correct about it being based on the country. Here in Portugal we are finding everything we need. Especially here in Lagos, the grocery store is fantastic. We will think of a way to do something on a weekly menu. Thank you for the ideas!! Safe travels!!

    Thanks for this video, you two are great. My husband and I spent a week on Santorini in mid April 2022. Really loved the island, only place in the world that has red, black and white beach. We visited the same two wineries you mentioned, wine museum was actually my favorite. We stayed in one of the cliff caves in Fira, lots of stairs, great sunsets from our porch every night. Grocery store at top of stairs.

    guys, I really love your videos and the way you travel, not being cheap but very budget conscious.
    I've been to santorini last September and I may say that renting a car makes a huge difference if staying for a short period, you can explore the whole island in a few days. The volcano tour is very very worth it. Also street food there it's delicious and pretty cheap.
    I'm willing to move to alicante, that's when I found your videos and follow since then. Keep up with the great work, you guys are great!

    Carrie & Brian, thanks for all of your videos, my wife and i enjoy them immensely. You always provide a great deal of useful information from some beautiful locales. One question - do you negotiate your Airbnb costs? We have used the service in a number of spots and your costs are impressively low, well done, we are jealous. One suggestion - it would be helpful to know the general dates for your stays. Thanks!

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Craig. We do not negotiate our Airbnb costs. This was our first summer of travel, so our Airbnb costs are low because of the time of year and we typically stay for longer than 28 days, which gives us a price break. Great idea on giving our video dates. We have had this request before but sometimes forget to add it to the description. We will get better. 😀 We were in Santorini in March of this year. I just started watching your videos. So what is a normal day/week like for you? It seems that you live very low budget. Do you feel like not having a car you’re missing out on the non-urban area experience says as much? Being able to drive outside and explore the countryside‘s. That’s how I feel like I would need to add a rental car. In addition how are you staying for such an extended period? What type of visa are you on? Plus I need to go find if you’ve got a backstory video of how you got to this spot in your lives.

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching! Great questions! Our normal day is pretty typical, coffee, news and then normaly out the door to explore our new surroundings. There has been a time that we discussed renting a car for a day or two to get out to the countryside. So yes, we can understand that completely. As far as the visa we do not overstay our visa. We explain that in a new video coming out tomorrow morning along with many other questions we commonly get asked. We do have another video called "Retire Early" that gives a background on how we made the decision to travel the world the way we do. Again, thank you for watching and supporting our channel.

      @@BrianandCarrie so I also watch the TH-camr itchy boots and she is always traveling on her motorcycle currently headed towards Alaska from South America and I’m sure it’ll take many months. And you know maybe as a motorcyclist myself maybe a small cheap scooter that would be kind of cool to have. She often takes her bikes into the motels or the rooms where she’s staying to make sure that no one does anything to them. So a small or 2 small little scooters or electric scooters might be kind of cool to have as well even to get you from major city to major city. I’m sure you’ve already thought about that but as I said here back to back and just watched her video it made me think about you guys. I’ve become fairly good at Spanish just listening to audiobooks doing the Duolingo and continually trying to improve upon it. My comprehension is fairly good for self-taught. You guys could do likewise I’m sure with such things.

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trawling through all of your videos and really enjoying the “how much it cost” content although I am finding the pricing waaaaaay out of date on these earlier ones. I think you got some great prices (I’ve watched just about every one of the cost ones) but now that the world has opened up pricing has gone up considerably and it’s a little depressing. We want to start slow travel in 2025 (combine some long service leave with, savings and some rental income rather than selling our home)
    We will actually start our trip off as fast travel for the few months before slowing down. Just got to figure out when and where to start.

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Prices have gone up post covid for sure. We were in Santorini off-season as well so our price was lower than it could have been. Not a bad idea to rent your home, it will be nice to have a place to return to. We decided to sell and be debt-free rather than the potential complications of owning a home. Hope you both will visit more Greek Isles!

The Brewery is on the way to Kamari but from what we were told it's not a sit-down and enjoy a pint type of place. They just brew the beer.

    Such a great video! Going to Santorini in 2 weeks. Since I am just staying there for 2 days, do you think it's still worth it to book a 6 hour long boat trip to go to Hot Springs, Volcano and Therasia? Thanks! Keep it up :)

    When you talked about going to see the beach with the red rock I have a story to tell you.
    Friends of mine from Florida took a trip to Santorini and they are in their 70’s and they wanted to go to that beach - her husband fell from the side of the path down about 150ft had broken leg, broken hip and broken ribs and was air lifted to a hospital on the island and once stabilized he was air lifted to Athens and was then operated on to fix his hip a cast on his one arm and his leg. Stayed in hospital till he could fly home to the U.S. . Luckily to be alive. Myself I think at his age it was very foolish.

      Hi, Anita. WOW, we actually think about things like that often. We have good medical insurance and have found that medical care has been great in most places that we have traveled to, but we are still cautious. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Hi Carrie and Brian,
    You are my inspiration! I tried the AirBnb from the link that you provided, I do see the price per nigh changed from $125 for high season to $74 at low season x 30~31 days, but how did you get the monthly rate of less than $1200? Thanks. Happy traveling!

      Thanks for reply. So look forward to your future video series. Also, I wonder if it’s possible to address any tax obligations, if you do not have a home base, or stay in a place/county for no more than 183 days a year? Take care.

    Hi Guys! What is the parking situation, if you rent a quad? Did you get international driver licenses?

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did NOT rent a quad although we wish we had. The parking will be easy anywhere you go. International driver's license I don't believe is necessary but they may ask. We have rented a car in the past with just our Washington State driver's license and didn't have any problems. We left a link below to a rental company, it may be worth emailing them and asking.
