This girl is presenting Santorini on a budget and is missing so much including the wonderful historical offerings of Santorini. When you are staying in one room by yourself on 50 Euros and eating Gyros - you are limited. Some of the exceptional and romantic accommodation, incredible restaurants, boating opportunities and historical sights really make Santorini special. Even some time in Pyrgos is wonderful - something she is not considering. There are some great little beaches you can also access by boat. I agree that July and August are not the best times to visit - too many people. These vlogs can provide some nice shots of the scenery and one person's often narrow perspective - but there are many ways to experience a location.

Santorini is truly a unique place. This is because there is no other place where buildings come together in such a blend of white and a hint of blue. The rounded dome shapes and the absence of sharp corners in the walls provide a sense of comfort to anyone who sees them. It is a healing experience in itself. The blue sea stretching out below only adds to the magnificence of this place, making it even more special.

I don't agree with some points this girl mentions and it also shows that she herself lacks quite a lot of knowledge not just of Greece but also of Santorini. Which is to be expected but the unfortunate part is that they come across as "this is the real knowledge" when it's swiss cheese knowledge with more holes in it than you can count. And she has already made more videos in which she said things that clearly is not reflecting the actual truth whatsoever.
    1). Expectations.
*Santorini can almost not disappoint anyone especially not when you are educated on the island before you go (key!).* It's very easy to impress the visitor profoundly. It is a truly gorgeous island and in essense dumb and ill informed people may get disappointed not knowing whatsoever what they want to do, expect, and want to aim for with completely off aims due to lack of educating themselves before you go. You also don't go in a dense forest when you are on a volcano. or you wont find bears in the sea. Really, there are people who say they expected forests when going on Santorini. The vast majority is utterly filled with forests of the most diverse kinds. Go to mainland and you will be overwhelmed by it. But Santorini is a Volcano island and the Largest sea caldera in the world.
So don't expect dumb things. So people that are "dissapointed" will be only very rare. If you do and visit all the things you can do on the islands (which are many more than plenty here realise) you will have a truly extraordinary experience.
    2). The island
*Also this girl yet again is not correct in her information. It's the same as some other people who arent educated enough when they speak.*
She says you can do a lot on other islands and that this is the reason there isn't that much on the island to do. Well it's just completely wrong.
For example. What makes Santorini special? it's its geology. It starts from there. It's a volcano. It erupted 3600 years ago. You can visit Vlychada beach which only very few people know or visit as just a simple example of how little people know when they visit the island. This beach has 70m high layers of pumice that was bombarded here by the Thira eruption that happened 3600 years ago. This beach is so unique you cannot find it anywhere else. Santorini is famous for it's tomatoes and grapes. You say you can visit also some things on other islands, but Santorini is literally famous for it's tomatoes and unique own selection of wines. So to try Vinsanto wines or Domato keftedes dish or Santorini fava or Tomato museum (close to Vlychada beach) are absolutely worth your while.
then you have literally Akrotiri one of the most important bronze age sites in the Mediterranean which is the Pompei of Greece but much much older and incredibly impressive and gives the island this depth of layers of what it is about than just being an island with the most beautiful sunsets in the world and caldera views. And there are more sites on the island you can visit and hike.
You can do a boat tour, and since the caldera is one of a kind with many gorgeous geology beauties around the island, a boat tour will make you admire it. You cant see it from your hotel or place of staying.
You can visit the center of the island and swim in natural hotsprings in a unique Santorini way. there is a light house on the south end. Wine tastings as I already mentioned.
*plenty to do and see on the island comfortably for a week if you want to.* and in a way that you can only see or do in Santorini.
    3). more expectations.
Santorini also has black and red sand beaches and I would find the red sand beach more impressive. But if people go to Greece and visit Santorini as their to go to place and then go swimming at black sand beaches, they could have expected something else. In the sense that there is nothing wrong with these beaches. They are perfect. But these are black pebbles or sand and they absorb all the light. So you don't have those immensely blue colors that you have in many other types of beaches in Greece. Hence its again what you should expect. Which is based on your knowledge. And since many people have the research capability of a 2 year old and the unwillingness to spend 10 min of their time, they can be dissapointed, but ultimately by their own inability.
O I am sorry. You did watch some Insta stories of people with gorgeous views of Santorini. Yes. You can easily have them for yourself in 100 ways on Santorini. But I am talking about knowing the actual island. You cannot find them on your average insta story because these people too fall in the same cathegory of being highly unwilling to know what the island is actually about and uneducated to the core when visiting
I have been to Greece 50+ times and Santorini 3 times. I know what I talk about when I speak regarding the entire nation. Santorini is like all of Greece gorgeous and unique. Yes Greece is an incredibly hospitable country.
4). And Santorini especially towards the end of the season may have people be tired out by the coldness of the people of the world passing by the island. Meaning. You can be a warm Greek which is also generally as Greeks truly are with incredibly warm hospitality, but if you see 2 million people passing by, with many people who are fleeing every day life from wherever they come from but some of them themselves incredibly cold people, this is what a Greek on Santorini is experiencing the whole day every day in the season. Ofcourse also warm experiences. But this is not the flow of plenty people visiting the island.
So yes. I turn things around. as Greeks are by nature very warm and this is also my general 99% expectation. You can have a busdriving that isn't kissing your feet or even not be at all times nice, although it all depends on what happened. Well if a bus driver may be rude then that is not accepted in my books. But I would also say I never experiience it because I don't visit Santorini in July August as I would do it in October or May (perfect) and I visit all of the rest of the country and always every time again keep experiencing on a daily basis incredibly warm people. Santorini does not reflect how Greeks are in general. And also on the island w full season of millions of travelers doesnt help you to be every second and moment of the day warm to everyone when you experience rude foreign people on a daily basis
