He is right, I googled searched it, Corporal De Castro , the first Hispanic Medal of Honor winner, Gettysburg, Union Flag Bearer on July 3rd, capturing a Confederate Flag during Picketts Charge.
Isn't Halls brigade in the 1998 Hallmark movie the live letter, the character Scott has a appearance as a col Caleb fictional commander of the 19th Mass which takes a beating July 3rd?
The 19th or 20 Mass MAvol INF, was the Harvard greys regts , many officers were harvaard yard grads alumni and even Paul Revere Jr was there? Oh yes Oliver Wendell Holmes, the 19th mass 20 the mass at Fredericksburg action landing in the town and even , sgt Juan John Hernandez colo guard?
Why did Masons fight against each other in the Civil War? Because they were working toward the same goal and as good soldiers and fraternity members, they followed orders. i do realize this seems counterintuitive: i.e., why didn't Southern Masons cross borders and fight for the Union? It was because the war was unavoidable, already long set in motion. The rest of America just didn't know it. It was a prerequisite of sweeping overhaul and reform. Same reason their memorial is so large and placed so prominently at the head of the cemetery. These weren't bumpkins from the hollows and farms. They were often educated, West Pointers, merchants, large or small, and artisans like carpenters and blacksmiths. Their larger caste spanned the Mason Dixon line. Many weren't true believers and fire eaters, they were moderates. And capitalists who supported the burgeoning economy, its nascent markets, and interstate and international commerce. Which all, imho, gets right at the heart of this ungodly conflict. Do have a show on this. Please.
