The Cyclorama was one of the highlights of my recent visit to Gettysburg. It really is a must-see. I even bought Sue Boardman’s excellent hardcover book because my experience of the painting was so memorable. The Sphere in Vegas is certainly today’s version of a Cyclorama. Wouldn’t it be great to see the battle recreated for the Sphere in the tradition of the Cyclorama?

There are so many details in these types of paintings (including in Dresden). My wife and I have been to Gettysburg and the Cyclorama many times including in August. It's always interesting how the artists sneak in 'hidden' figures. There always new things to see. As Foundation members, we need to get to back Gettysburg for 'An Evening with the Painting. There are also 'hidden figures' in the new display painting on Little Round Top.

After watching the film from across the pond , Picketts Charge resembles a tactic used by Napoleon 50 years before ,mass columns of infantry advancing but used with better Artillery fire. Wellington found away of beating this eg Waterloo. In the film the British fella is awful a parody but hey we probably use Americans like this in our film. Another difference in the use of religion very sentimental for us but the STARS of the film are the extras/ volunteers they give it a real authenticity there love for the era shines though….. I bet the charges were quite difficult for the over 40`s ! but must be a great claim to fame to get your face in such an iconic film. With these Pod casts and the films I can put all the story together boy! an epic piece of history Waterloo x 3 🫡🇮🇲

Not long before 911, he thought out loud to his wife asking himself whether or not he could do what soldiers at Gettysburg did...charge straight into almost certain death. I guess his heroic actions answered his own question. Thanks for sharing this.

Thank you for sharing this. My great grandfather Seymour Green was 111th and made it out alive from Fort Douglas. His story is very interesting . He was a hotel owner, a medicine man etc.. So much interesting history,

At 2:26:30 I paused the video to comment on the baldheaded chicken fornicater,crying over the burning of railroad bridges, etc. All's fair in love & war. I guess it doesn't cross his peabrain about the thousands of homes, barns and utter destruction in the South the yankees burned. And the main culprit to look to for all of this chaos is your Benevolant Tyrant lincoln. He goaded the South into firing on Ft.Sumter. But the War Between the States actually started in Johnson Co. Kansas.

With this show you’ve really penetrated this beaver problem.

Let me start off saying I'm on team Motzart. However, beavers in many states Including Pennsylvania are protected as " furbearers status" category. Therefore they arent allowed to be relocated harmed or hunted at all unlike deer....including on private property property much to the chagrin of property owners. I have friend in Maine that has similar laws that had beavers arrive and build a dam and pond on his property. He was not permitted to remove the beavers even though their pond eventually flooded over an access dirt road to his property. I think we have a bureaucratic issue here that requires a policy change.

For the F word search the Oxford Etymologist, Anatoly Liberman. He writes a lot about those kinds of words. Also, it is very hard to find any curse words in writing in the 19th century. Famously, Abraham Lincoln liked to tell dirty stories. Try to find many. There are precious few that have been written down.
