Well done, mate. I'm about to do mine and you've given me some great tips and confidence to do the job properly. Thanks for taking the time to post your vid. cheers.
I'm sealing two tanks today but way before I thought of doing por-15. I had vinegar filled to top of both tanks. And went to car wash this morning which helped the decreasing process out huge. Now doing the the metal prep as we speak. Vinegar has 5 percent acidity which will get rid of most rust and varnish. But this kit seems awesome and thanks for the video for insight

DRYING?! What was the state after the blow dry? My tank is coated with surface rust ( after electrolysis, quick rinse with muriatic acid, neutralising, blow dry). How to deal with this before sealing? Would a citric acid solution help?
How long did it last ??? Well its still in there and looks as good as new, i'll be posting an update vid one day as i filmed the inside with a borescope, subscribe so not to miss it :)
Why not just use the gas cap instead of the tape on the inlet? Also, it's easier to rinse if you remove the tape at the petcock so the water can run out there?
Great video all around thanks. My question is: Do any of the three chemicals cause permant damage to the pain job? I just got my redone and am worried about ruining it with spill\ leakage during the process. Any tips? any damage?
Hi Erik, during cleaning and prep absolutely no problems with the chemicals on the paint surface, but if you get any sealer on the paint I would remove this straight away.
So I bought this and also I bought an extra amount of sealer. Did u throw in the entire 8oz can and just do 1 layer ? Thinking about maybe doing 2 layers
Just shake as much water as you can out. It's not crucial to be bone dry until you do the sealant. If it's not dry when doing the sealant it'll flake off
@@swampusmaximus I'm hoping to have as good luck with mine. I was very careful with it and if it works will save me about $300 at least. It's on a 71 Triumph Daytona.
I don't diss your music man. Bit up beat but man it's well done haha 🤣👍 good job on the video. I find the wooden plates bolted in a bit unecessary. I get the logic behind it but a bolt will simply go in if you want it to lol. At least the threads are sealed haha. PS: worst "cuppa" ive ever seen 😝
Hi. You must have mis-read the instructions. Once you have swirled the POR15 around you don't need to leave the tank in static positions to coat the inside...you just pour it out. It needs air to cure anyway. You have followed the instructions of how to CLEAN the inside with the POR CLEANER and DEGREASER
@@swampusmaximus That's not what you show...read what you say in big yellow words! at 10:40....you are leaving the tank in different positions to coat the tank....Sorry this is not the instructions that Frost say...you roll the tank around and pour it out. leaving the tank to soak in different positions just wastes time as the the resin only cures in the presence of air. It's no big deal doing what you did but misleading for others who attempt to copy you.
@@meckanicall This was done nearly 8 years ago and whatever I did worked, all still fine with no issues, at the beginning of the video I mentioned that this was a guide and one would assume that any person doing this themselves would read the instructions supplied with the product in case of any changes etc. I really do believe that you have pointed something out that's not really an issue, but thanks anyway :)
The music sucks. I'd rather hear the guy explain the steps rather than strain to see red words. Also, the directions say to add some bolts or a chain to shake loose any debris on the tank wall during cleaning phase.
@@swampusmaximus I don't mean to sound like I'm bitching. I really appreciate the time you took to make this. I just suggest losing the horrible music. If you are worried about using copywritten material, I can send you some original tracks that I don't mind being used. 😜
my experience with this stuff so far is it would have been better to file my balls with a wood rasp than to use this. it peeled away from 90% of the surface inside the tank after about 36 of the 96 hour curing time. I spent about 10 hours prepping the tank and when i thought it was good enough i went ahead and pored the liner in before it rusted again. it looked good for the first 24 hours.
Understandable thought, but the active ingredient in metal prep is phosphoric acid, which is not dangerous. It's used in heaps of foods, and not least beers, for pH adjustment, and provided it's diluted with a lot of water as was done here, is not harmful.

✓ No unnecessary talking
✓ Clear annotation

Thanks Gary, it makes it worth while getting positive feedback like this instead of moaning about the music rants... Best of luck with your tank :)

Thanks Matt, hope it all goes to plan :)
Good video showing all the steps involved but not too sure if the frogs would have liked the cleaner and etch chemicals down the drain.
We don't have frogs around here....Can't understand why !
Cuanto tiempo te duro el tratamiento?

With what I recall there was no surface rust at all, just a shinny clean surface :)
Odd question, what is the music in this video? I really like it. Also, great tutorial.
I had no idea so Shazamed it, Brilliant You by Soul Seers :) Thanks for watching :)
Very very good video.
Great video! Really useful, thanks. Same bike, same colour: not as well-cared for as yours, though :)
Awesome video brother it helped me out big time thank you very much ☺️

I didn't want it coated in the sealer :-O
You could use alcohol to speed up the drying. No not by getting pissed but by pouring rubbing alcohol into the tank to displace the moisture ;)
Seems like a waste to me, but if it speeds things up I can see the benefits, Thanks :)

As per vid, I think that I only did it the once :)
use nuts or clean sharp small gravel with the metal prep ( phosphoric acid) to mechanically remove rust.
I love your energy!
Many Thanks :)
Good job! Thanks for the video!
The music reminds me of “oh you touch my tralala”
Excellent :)

Do you have to dry the tank after the degreaser before you do the second bottle
No I didn't Neil, straight in there with the Prep & Ready :)

Since then, have you had any problems with rust in that tank?
Not at all, video coming soon of the inside of this tank :)
That's a relief to know. Looking forward to that video
If the tank has a lot of rust should I use this ? Or should I use a rust remover 1st
The kit comes complete with an anti rust treatment
Good video, and the sound track was great also.
Thanks :)
Nice 1 pal helped me out alot
Good video but would have preferred a commentary to the irritating music.
How did it hold up?
James, everyone said it would peel, pleased to say as of July 2020 absolutely no issues at all :)

The wooden cover was a bit rushed I admit but you need something to cover the hole as the sealer is coming out :-o the coffee was fine btw :)
You better hope the epa dont watch chemicals right down the drain
Ha Ha Ha :)
Milk first, then hot water. Good man.
Thanks for the video and how's it holding up since you've sealed it?
Jan 2013 I sealed this tank and its been fine since :)
swampusmaximus That's great, I've sealed mine now and this video helped me a lot when doing it and it looks very good on the inside now.
Sounds good to me, sorry for the late reply thou & glad the vid helped :)
2019 and the tank is still going strong, no peeling or flaking like so many had said would happen :)
